White Hart Hotel by Greene King Inns

Location, cleanliness cheerful staff we was a party of nine and the only thing that was a bit below par was one of our party found a hair in her mac and cheese the manageress changed it straight away, and the ordering was a bit of a mess took orders for three sirloin steaks, then said they only had one, so two of us changed to rump, only for five minutes later to be told they never had the last sirloin, changed that to rump but all three were really tough manageress offered free deserts which was a lovely gesture. But 28 day matured rump shouldn't be tough so I suggest you have a word with whoever supplies them, but that was the only grump.

We stayed there last year and it's very central to where we needed to go and visit. My grandchildren live only a bus ride away.

We were disappointed that when we arrived we couldn't get any food even though the website says 9. We came into the restaurant at 7.20 pm and were told the kitchen was closed at 7.30 pm. We had been traveling on a coach for 12 hours and didn't want to go out to eat but obviously we had too. A little snack would have been nice especially as we were paying for it. Also unfortunately we nearly missed breakfast because again on the website it says up till 11 am but we went down at 8.45 am and some things were packed away because the lady said last breakfast was 9 am. We love staying at the White Hart but are a little unhappy this time.

Firstly the staff, Ben, greeted us with a big smile, very helpful, the bed was massive and the most comfortable I have ever slept in, including my own. Breakfast was superb, cooked by Scott I beleive and served by Mon, who was excellent and helped my wife and I with coffee etc. Overall it was a first class expeience and one we will most certainly repeat in the not too distant future. Superb value.

Nothing at all. The building is a 16th Century Inn and is exactly what one would ecpect.

Spacious room with clean and comfortable beds. Upgraded to family room from a double at short notice and no extra cost so our grandson could accompany us. Staff were all excellently welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a good range of choices and was great value for money although the Coffee and hot water flasks difficult to operate!

The rooms decor was a little tired looking. There was no mini fridge. It was up two flights of stairs and there was no lift. We didn’t find it straight forward finding our way back down to reception.

It’s located in the centre of town which makes it great for shopping and site seeing. The property has its own car park and the staff are friendly and helpful.

I have stayed here on numerous occasions but have noticed prices have risen of late, service is a little slow at breakfast on my latest visit having to wait 15 minutes before my order was taken and a further 20 minutes before my food was delivered to the table, (not sure if there is some understaffing issues or not), never experienced this in previous visits over the last few years. I’m sure this is a one off. I hope that the ‘value for money crown’ I have personally awarded this hotel in the past doesn’t disappear.

The staff were exceptional. Scott has put a great team together who each helped in their own way with a special thanks to Ben and Dan. There were large portions and plenty of choice for breakfast to give great value to the charge made. The advantage of food being available in the pub. Be aware no orders after 8.30pm.

Noise along the corridor and banging of doors at 5.30ish each morning. As it's a pub be aware there is noise outside til 11 ish but the back bedroom overlooking the car park I had was quiet after that.

This location was in the centre of braintree. Good value for money and a cooked breakfast available every day which could be paid for separately on a daily basis or when you book. Food was good throughout the day with various meals meeting most people's dietary needs and reasonably priced. Access for disabled downstairs for visiting but rooms only available via a staircase. Staff freindly, helpful and accommodating. A quirky , old style venue with even a relaxing lounge under oak beams. At the weekend they have entertainment arranged and at those times very busy. A great place to stay. If visiting there was a car park which you would register your car and get free parking when spending over £5. As a guest staying the parking was free but you must register it. The venue belongs to the Greene King chain and my experience was of a high standard. On getting to the rooms it was via a spiral staircase and the building used to be a coach house which has since expanded . A great place to stay.

Not much not to like really as with its quikeness and different rooms it was relaxing , unhurried, relaxed atmosphere.

The room was clean and the bed really comfortable. The outside area was quiet so no noisy disturbances during the night. There was an excellent choice for breakfast and the meal we had the evening before was very good too. A nice large dining room. And all the staff were very friendly and helpful

The bathroom was small but clean, but the shower wasn't very powerful - there was another, smaller and more powerful shower but it was a bit confusing having the two. The system for the coffee and tea in the morning wasn't very good - the coffee and the hot water were in large thermal jugs which seemed to lose heat quite quickly. The continental breakfast also offered fruit, but I couldn't see any

The room was a generous size with a comfortable double bed and decent large smart TV. The bathroom was compact, but there was space to put things either side of the sink. The shower cubicle was large but the water pressure was disappointing. The staff were excellent in all areas; very friendly and helpful. The English Breakfast on my first morning was excellent but was a bit cold on the second morning, which was disappointing.

The view of the car park and some outside tables wasn't great, but I wasn't staying there for the views and thankfully I didn't notice the smell of smoke from the people smoking outside.

Great hotel. Super food. Ate in both nights as better than surrounding restaurants. Scott the manager was exceptional and very friendly and professional. His staff were attentive and efficient and very pleasant to deal with. All in all a great break and we highly recommend it.

Nothing really. The heat wave made the bedroom hot but the fan provided saved the day.
