The Royal Foresters

Very good location for Lapland UK. Breakfast was excellent, great choice, service in restaurant was first class.

The Hotel has a real buzz. The staff are all delightful, attentive and helpful. The food in the restaurant at breakfast and evening time was excellent, plenty of choice and well cooked and presented (thanks Chef). The room was well presented and comfortable with a large bathroom. Good air conditioning in the recent heatwave.

The room (207) is situated on the first floor over the top of the waste bin bay and the unloading point for the brewery truck. The three mornings we stayed it was noisy at an early time in the morning (6-7am). For the size of the bathroom the shower is quite narrow to enter.

We were made to feel welcome at the Royal Foresters from the start and throughout our stay. Helpful acts by staff ranged from the cleaning lady who was good enough to show me the card operated exit and entrance in the small hours of the morning through to the waiting and kitchen staff who met my partners off-menu needs with enthusiasm. We especially commend Mocick (service) and Rebecca (kitchen) who built my partner an excellent and exotic fruit salad which was not on the menu which enabled her to have a sweet and by extension enabled me to have a sweet. This perfectly completed an excellent day and an excellent stay.

There was nothing about this place that we did not like.

The staff were friendly, helpful and hardworking . The Manager was also an excellent concierge , a living dynamo making herself available for any query . We were there for a b&b base for Royal Ascot which for the hotel is clearly an important event, which it clearly gears itself for, including seamless access to local executive car/taxi services.

No real complaints , save the room rates are significantly increased for Royal Ascot but that applies to all of the local market including those some distance further away .Very solid if not luxurious, it is competitive given its convenient proximity to that event.

The breakfast choice was superb and all freshly cooked a bonus not having a usual buffet. The bedroom we had was excellent and the bathroom was spacious. The friendliness of all the staff was a pleasure, nothing was too much trouble and everything came with a smile, which makes a great difference. The outside terrace was a real bonus in the beautiful weather and was used for all meals. The food was good and there was an excellent choice on the menus, not only the usual, but a very thoughtful mix of some very interesting dishes, including a brunch menu available from am to 5 pm. shows some thought had been given to the food preparation and choices.

Only something minor. The bathroom lighting is carefully designed, excellent, but not bright, so a makeup/shaving mirror would be a good addition. Also a box of tissues would be useful.

Stayed here before. Well located for access to the surrounding area. Rooms and facilities v comfortable but not oversized. Good atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. Staff all very friendly and efficient.

Had a problem with check out on line but this was resolved on the phone. The rear entrance to the ground floor rooms could do with enhanced cleaning as it's used for the adjacent kitchen store and obviously has a lot of traffic. In addition, the "temporary" mobile chiller in the car park (it was there a year ago) is still powered by a cable running out of the building across the footpath which isn't very presentable as well as being a potential trip hazard.

We stayed here in order to have a short drive the next morning to Heathrow to return our rental car and catch our flight. The hotel's location was good for that. The room was large, up to date, and fully equipped; the only thing it didn't have was a safe. The main business of Royal Foresters seems to be dining; the place was packed and the car park was full. Breakfast was included in our reservation; there was no buffet so we just ordered off the menu and were very happy with the food. Overall, we got excellent value at Royal Foresters. The staff we dealt with were very helpful.

Smart restaurant with rooms resurected from a former 'carvery'. Slick service coupled with an immaginative menu makes the restaurant a popular choice. Very easy to find on the main A232 with good parking. Ice cold Peroni was very satisfying after a long drive. My dinner of chorizo scotch egg and a medium-rare seared steak was cooked to perfection. This was accompanied with a large glass of quality Merlot and not at a silly price. The rooms attached to the carvery are far enough away from the road and with good sound insulation so sleep was not disturbed. Well equipped with bath robes, minii-bar and all the usual fittings you would expect from a 4+star hotel. I slept well. Breakfast mirrored the same quality as the dinner. I opted from Eggs royale, cooked perfectly to order and coffee.

We stayed here for the Christmas weekend (2022) it was our first Christmas holiday away as a family we took our 2 1/2 year old, the staff were amazing especially, the hotel manager - she was amazing!. Breakfast was delicious, and we also had our Christmas meal here, was just as delicious!. All staff were brilliant, and so polite - especially when it can be horrible working during the Christmas period, but they put on a smile and cracked on. Every morning they would welcome us, and everyone wished us Merry Christmas, they’re atmosphere made it magical for our little one, she had the best time - and she talks about it now (late January). Thank You to all staff for making our daughter have a magical Christmas.

Nothing, we were so pleased with our stay.

We were expecting rooms over a pub... but actually it's a really really NICE pub/restaurant with rooms attached, and although on a fairly busy road, we didn't hear the traffic in our room at all. The bed was comfortable, the room & bathroom very clean, there was a well stocked mini-bar AND the breakfast was delicious! If we ever visit Ascot again, we shall definitely stay at the Royal Foresters...and we shall definitely recommend it to our friends & family.

One tiny quibble was how warm the room was - until I realised there was air-con that I could control & then even that was sorted!.. so, I guess I liked everything (although I wasn't too keen on the granola I had for breakfast (a bit like kids cereal rather than granola), but the rest of it was delicious!)
