Evergreen Laurel Hotel - Taichung

We were granted and upgrade to a suite for no particular reason, which was really nice. Breakfast buffet was plentiful; mainly oriental options but you could order the cook to prepare a dish also. Had good espresso coffee machines.

The hotel is rather old but well kept, except for the pool, which was one of the reasons we chose to stay. It was closed for maintenance and there was no mention of when it would be operational again.

We loved the hotel. 1. It had a good location. 2. The resort was great for families. 3. Breakfast was included and it was wodnerful! 4. The pool was lovely, outdoors. 5. The gym was adequate. 6. The room was lovely, cozy and clean.

I did not like that the hotel pool and kid center was closed mid day. We waited for our room, and it would have been great to get in the pool while waiting.

Great service from every single staff! They all go the extra mile to help.

Bad wifi and long line to get to the elevator each morning around check out time. Location isn’t as convenient even though it’s right next to the bus stop. Bad traffic to get into the front door for delivery and pick up/drop off services.

We came with our young kids, they enjoyed the very nice kids playroom and the pool. The room was large. Breakfast buffet was very nice, lots of choices.

The carpet on the ground is very messy and not really clean when you have a crawling baby. The opening hours of the pool. Close between 6-7 pm almost when we would use it around 5-6.

The Taichung Evergreen Laurel is an excellent well-managed hotel that has been and will be, in the foreseeable future, our favorite family hotel. My child constantly reminds me that it is her favorite place to stay in Taiwan. Whenever we stay there, our experience is always consistently pleasant and satisfactory. It offers the kind of quality one would associate with luxury hotels of leisure and service, but it somehow manages to be thoroughly unpretentious and welcoming to ordinary middle-class families like mine. The restaurants chefs are first rate. Other services and activity rooms are likewise superb. I particularly appreciate the information available on the hotel’s website on its COVID-prevention measures, such as air filtration and cleaning methods. Even though the Taiwanese are generally not at great risk of COVID, it is a reassuring thing that the hotel is attending to air cleaning, the most effective way to prevent COVID.

While this is my favorite hotel in Taiwan, I must point out that the last time I stayed, the bottle water tasted terrible. It may seem strange to say this, but the bottle water tasted like the water purifying system was over-used and so instead of tasting fresh and clean, the water tasted of impurities I associate with an old and clogged up filtration system. I do hope they attend to this and fix this soon, because I will plan a return stay to the hotel.

Amazing kids playrooms. Adult steam /sauna/hot tub is great. Big gym, even had table tennis and squash. The pool is very generous. Great breakfast. Super kid friendly

It’s a 15 min walk from the mrt station. And also 15 min walk to the shopping areas. The decor is a little more dated, but we’ll kept.

slightly dated, room with low ceiling , bed mattress are getting slightly better at top level , during my extended stay at Level 14, but still it’s not that comfortable, I would recommend you to use “Sleepyhead mattress” from NZ or of the same quality. I get sore back when I wake up.

A bite old but clean and organized, staff were helpful, good breakfast , a good value hotel to stay for a total of 5 days.

Lobby is kind of small, when big tour group arrived, they even took out all seating from lobby just to accommodate luggages, not quite a five star in this category.

From the beginning of checking in, the staff was excellent. Ordered a full dinner for the family off the in room dining menu. The food was exceptional. We ordered everything from a club sandwich to beef noodle soup. Compliments to the chief. Beds were comfortable and checking out was painless. I can easily understand why this hotel was rated 5 stars.

Not much to complain about. Parking lot was a little hard to get in and out but that is really nitpicking. Drove in with a rented mini van and didn't really have many problems.

Clean and big swimming pool, large sauna facility. Room is specious with bath tub and separate shower booth. Breakfast choice is very good and always full of food in the booth.

A bit far from MRT station if you need to access.
