Backpacker 41 Hostel - Kaohsiung

Nice location. Good ratio quality price. Free coffee, tea, milk tea. Nice owner: she really appreciates if you try to speak Chinese, and often offers something (to eat or to drink) to random customers.

No laundry machine (but around the corner there is a cheap laundromat, like 40$), but they have fast drying clothes balcony on the roof (in a couple of hours everything dry). Receptionist that speaks English arrives late in the afternoon, therefore if you don't speak Chinese is advisable to not arrive too early.

I like this place. Simple yet comfortable, close to the metro, walking distance to the best dumplings and noodle shops in Kaohsiung (near 7-11 and Watson's, another one on the left side before you reach 7-11). FREE coffee and tea, friendly staff, designated smoking area. Quiet and comfy bunk beds, free shampoo, body wash & toilet paper (no bidet), small towels at 20NTD, toothbrush & paste at 10NTD. FREE WIFI, spacious and comfy common area.

I am just bad with directions and that is my fault. Other than that, the location is very convenient.

Location was just a few blocks away from Sandou Shopping District MRT Station so it was very convenient and accessible. Facilities are clean and the staff are nice, will definitely come back. 😍 It's really worth the money.

It's not a big issue but there were no curtain coverings for each bed (so you can just put a towel or shawl to do it) and there's no bidet at the toilets, but it's fine everything was GREAT!

Really good location near night markets and the train station. Just a few train stops from the airport! Joanna was really kind. The hostel was clean and tidy with a good space to hang out and meet people.

No curtains at the bed. Really squeeze in the washrooms and depending on who is there, it can get a little messy.

super friendly owner and staff, cozy place with clean space, strategic location and not far for other public area or tourist attraction.

the toilet is too expose no coverage can be seen by people who passing by and too narrow from men's room. I found this hotel as Moslem Friendly hostel but there's no space for pray and no separation for utensil, its to worried to use if you are vegetarian or Moslem due to mix usage of utensil

Liu nainai (the grandma boss lady) seemed angry at first, but she is very nice, as long as you pay 🤣. The common area is nice. There is soap and shampoo in the showers. Facilities are basic, but functional. Met many cool people.

Showers a bit small, also, it seems that there may be some mold growing. Because it is the cheapest in the area, it attracts some questionable travellers.

With this price the hostel managed to have every basic things: garden, balcony, kitchen, fridge, free tea:coffees. The staffs are very nice. Hygiene is also at top standard. The only thing need to bear in mind is: Grandmom Liu (the owner) has character;)

Convenient location, owner is friendly and speaks English well, other staff are helpful (prepare Google translate for some, but they're friendly and approachable), owner Joanna suggested a couple of local places for me to go to, including one of the best and cheapest dumpling places I've tasted my entire life.

Very clean hostel, close to the metro station in Kaohsiung. Going to the airport from there is a breeze. Good environment and services.

Maybe the kitchen can have some more tool like a frying pan, but overall there are really few things to complain about

The location was excellent. The hostel was wonderful, with well-equipped kitchen facilities. Washrooms were neat and clean.

We reached much earlier but there was no baggage storage facility. So that was a drawback for us.
