Hôtel du Rhône

The staff (Renauld) at the hotel made wonderful efforts that saved the day for us 😁! The trains from Sion to Parma, Italy (our next destination) were completely sold out because of work being done on the tunnels. Renauld was able to find a longer train route (through Locarno, ~7hours) that allowed us to make our way to Parma successfully. Although the connection time in Locarno was only 4 minutes, and we had to go upstairs to a different station, we were able get aboard the RE train to Milan successfully. Because the trip crossed the Switzerland-Italy border, it was not possible to purchase the tickets on the internet or the app. He was able to determine the correct train schedule for us (while we were able to enjoy hiking the Bisse du Torrent-Neuf: the main reason we came to Sion!), and left instructions on how to obtain the train tickets upon our return to Sion train station. The hotel facilities are Ok, clean, and are about a 10 minute walk from the train station. Their restaurant does serve a reasonable Fondue Bourguignon. Again, thank you 🙏 Renauld so very much!!!

The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. As well, this was a wonderfully central location to enjoy historic Sion.

The property only had two twin beds available, which is an odd option to us. As well, the lobby was upstairs so it was difficult to get oriented initially without sufficient signage to guide us.

Quite a good stay, only 10 minutes from the railway station and really close to the restaurants and the local castle. The breakfast was quite good, fresh bread and lots of fruits. The room is equipped with a safe, fridge and a coffee machine, really nice.

The coffee served during the breakfast was really bad. Other than that, nothing to complain about really.

The location was perfect just beside the old town center and with a spectacular view on the castle. The room was fine for a one-night stay, unfortunately very hot and impossible to get any cool air inside during the night. Beds were twins (I knew) but a pity that a queen/king size bed option was not available.

As I said, the room was very hot (for me, my partner even covered herself in the night!) and impossible to get cool air in during the night. The breakfast was a bit pricey but I'm not a big eater in the early morning...

The room was clean and well laid out. The beds were very comfortable and having a bath rather than a shower was very welcome after a days skiing. The hotel is very well located, close to the old town and has convenient parking beneath.

The staff were very very nice and helpful. The location is great: walk around the old city or leaving the city by car. The hotel has a free private parking

The bathroom needs to be redone… the shower had very weak water pressure, the bath has a nylon curtain… it feels like the 90’s. Breakfast: there are some other options near by which are tastier and cheaper

The room was spacious and clean, the lady at the reception was very nice, the check-in online was very convenient, it would have been nice to have a bit more choices for a savory breakfast (e.g. scrambled eggs, a few veggies)

Very good location near the middle of the city center. Good service and big lobby. I had a room with view on the basilica. There is a restaurant downstairs where you can eat also later in the evening.

Rooms were older but in good shape. Definitively worth for the price.

Very good breakfast, although less sugar in the cereal would be good. Good views of the surrounding mountains and historical buildings. Very well placed in the centre of Sion for sight seeing and not far from the station

Location, very friendly service, parking possibilities and bike room. Excellent breakfast as well!

there is no air conditioning. we just slept with the window open
