Hôtel Alpes & Lac

The room was somewhat spartan, but the bed was comfortable and the shower excellent. Our room did not have air conditioning, but an excellent fan kept us comfortable on a warm night. The view to the lake was nice. We were there for an evening wedding in a suburb, so it was great to be able to get to and from the hotel by train. A fununcular runs from the train station across the street to the University. From there it is just a short walk to the art museum, old town and harbor. The hotel provides guests with a pass for local transportation and coupons for admission to museums and nearby attractions. Notwithstanding its proximity to the train station. The street out front was quiet.

It would have been nice to have a more comfortable chair for reading and a TV with a larger screen.

We had the apt and were surprised by the angled lake view. We knew we'd see the station side, but the small terrace overlooking the lake was sublime! We also liked that the city offers free passes for public transportation and that within the little booklet of coupons, we could enjoy a free round trip lake cruise on Sunday morning! Was a perfect location for visiting the Fest'Neuch as the hotel sits directly perched up on the hillside directly above the venue. Spectacular in every way! Breakfast on the plunging lake below from their sunny terrace was heavenly! A def must and so surprising that it's only rated 3 stars! Very friendly reception on Saturday afternoon when we arrived.

Some fixtures in the bathroom were coming out of the wall. Need to be repaired: towel rack, for example.

Absolutely incredible view of the old town and the lake, basically in the train station so I could roll out of bed in the morning and catch my early train, extra firm mattress, coffee machine and pods ready. Staff were efficient and pleasant. A lovely simple experience in a hotel that ticked all the boxes seemingly effortlessly.

A room without a balcony was 135CHF which is a little steep, but for everything that was right with the hotel I'm prepared to pay it. A lovely place to stay.

It’s my second time staying in this hotel and my experience this time has been even better than the first time. What a marvelous place to be, definitely one of the most beautiful views of Neuchatel. The room was spacious and comfortable; the staff is friendly and helpful. The fan was enough to cool the room in a late spring evening. The terrasse for breakfast is just great!

The breakfast is good but I'm certain it could be more diversified (e.g., adding scramble eggs).

The 2 ladies on reception - Jessica and Felicie - were absolutely excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and they gave us really helpful advice on many things. They always greeted us in perfect English and with a smile. This quality of service makes such a big difference.

Compared to the other places (hotels and one apartment) in which we have stayed in Switzerland on this trip, there were no English speaking channels that were working.

We asked for a lake view, and it was really worth it. The view in the morning was stunning; on a clear day you can see the Alpes! The room was very clean and modern. The hotel is very well located and you can just take the "Funambule" to take you to the bottom of the hill and walk towards the city centre. The staff was nice and helpful.

Very minor negative thing: there was only coffee available in the room, no tea or herbal tea.

The room was in execllent conditon. It was big and very clean. The location is very convenient, near the train station with a lot of bus lines. The town is nice, small and very easy to get aroind. The lake is lovley. Exelenct to 1-2 night stay

None. If it is importent to you, ask the lake side of the hotel for the view.

across the road from railway station, so convenient & not noisy at all. lovely lake views from our room & big room. the transport card was brilliant & the funicular railways which were included in the card were such a great way to get around & buses also great.

nothing really except perhaps their breakfasts could have had more variety for the price.

The location of the hotel is excellent. The staff is very helpfull and friendly. They offered us free parking. We had a roomn at the side of the lake. As the hotel is on a hill opposite to the trainstation, the view over the lake is magnificent. We had a small balcony and the hotel has a big terrace for dinner and drinks.

Room was hot due to the weather and there is no aircondition. The bedcover is too hot for the season and the blower in the roon was noise and had little effect. We slept with the blacony doors open, but the bedcover was too hot. Just sheets would have been more comfortable.

Nice old style French architecture hotel with a great position just outside the main train station. lovely views of the city and the lake as this hotel sits high above both.

Hotel restaurant is currently shut and as it is above the lake there is a nice hill to walk up to get to it. Not a problem as there is a funicular to get to the train station from the town and lake level. Unfortunately the lady checking us in told us to use it but it is not running for the next few months due to maintenance.
