Hotel Stoffel - adults only

Extremely nice hotel, rooms and staff. The changing dinner is fantastic (based on local seasonal produce), and you get it to a lower rate when you stay at the hotel. We (my wife and I) had the room with the rooftop terrace, which is an amazing place both during the day and to watch the stars at night. The hotel also gave us 2 "Arosa Cards" so we could ride the lift system, buses and most of the train ride to/from Chur (Arosa-Lüen + Lüen-Arosa) for free. That is a nice touch! The hotel is quiet, cute, beautiful and excellent spot to start your hikes, have a romantic holiday or take the gondola lift to the Hörnli mountain station. The nearest bus stop is only 2min walk away.

The hotel staff went beyond the normal to make our stay great. They stayed late so we could check in for our preferred time. They were very helpful and welcoming. The design of the hotel is great making sure windows face the most stunning looks of the mountain. Breakfast featured a wide variety of foods, lasted till 10:00 and even better, nearly everything was local allowing you to taste Arosa and Switzerland. The hotel also got us an Arosa-card so you can make use out of the facilities in and around Arosa. The owner was most helpful and friendly as well, brilliant interaction and great advice on where to go.

We had a very basic room, which we chose so to speak. Maybe a fridge or an additional bit of painting would have been nice. Yet honestly, for the price we paid we had everything we desired.

Everything! The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Huge thank you to Christoph and Marcus who were so kind and especially to Christoph who patiently allowed me to practise my German on him! A special mention also for the chef as the quality of the food was outstanding. We had the set, four course menu each evening and couldn’t fault it. My husband particularly enjoyed Marcus’ suggestion of an “adventure plate” of cheese. Breakfast was also fresh and delicious with many home-made touches. On top of all this, the location is stunning, with easy links to the centre of the town and short walk to the Hornli- express cable car and mountain pathways.

A tiny point would be my personal preference for larger bath towels.

For a 10 out of 10, I would recommend to have more salted choices for breakfast (hams, boiled eggs…). Moreover the bed was unfortunately too soft and the covers too hot for summer, even though we slept with windows opened. At last, it would have been practical to have small bottles of water in the room (e.g., to take with us outside).

There are hotels you stay in and that is the norm. The Stoffel is much more than that, it is your home for the duration of your stay. The owners and managers of the hotel make everything perfect for you, from the cleanliness of the rooms, to the excellence of the food to the help they give you for every need. Booking another restaurant? Done. Booking a spa? Done. Telling you how to get to the piste in under a minute? Done (they don't tell you this is more or less a ski in ski out hotel on the Web site). Having your boots warm and ready to go every morning? Done. No wonder so many people come back here.

It would be nice to have a sauna in the hotel and perhaps tea and cakes in the afternoon.

Though it was quite tucked away (in Inner Rosa), it was particularly special for that reason. It was quiet, clean and comfortable. I especially enjoyed my outdoor terrace where I could sit, read and gaze at nature. The sound of the river and the cute squirrels in the area were also part of my nice memory of staying here. The staff are also very helpful and kind.

Lovely hotel on a great location. The room was cosy with a lot of wood, and clean with a beautiful view. There were some clever tech touches to this traditional hotel: a light up mirror and a clever lock. Everybody in hotel Stoffel was very nice, including dog Leo. Breakfast was great and again with a lovely view. We also enjoyed the cable car passes for a trip up the Weisshorn.

the separate toilet was all good but after a day it started to have a weird smell which lasted for half a day only.

As soon as you walk in you get a whiff of woodsy cabin heaven. The staff was so helpful and friendly. The room was much bigger and more charming than the pictures let on. Beautiful view from our terrace. So close to a wonderful nature path and stream. You can easily use public transportation to access.

Oh. My. God. This was the most beautiful and most luxurious room we've ever had the honor of staying in. Hotel Stoffel is located at the upper edge of Arosa (for now at least), so you have a great access to the Alps straight in the back yard. This room has the original wooden panelling from 1919, which looks stunning and smells great (the wood resin still emanating from it). The hotel gave us Arosa cards for the two days of our stay, which meant we could travel with all the gondolas in the town up to the various peaks (Hörnli Express is 5 minutes walk away). Dinner was exquisite nouvelle cuisine faire with a proper Alpine touch. Even the library in the room was great, being not just a random collection of left behind books but a genuine collection of literary and popular classics.

I wish we could have stayed longer. Also, the environment and the hotel are both equally amazing, meaning it's impossible to choose what to do.
