Hotel Castillo de Javier

I am on Camino de Santiago #3. I stayed at this great accommodation on my first camino last year. I'm hiking 2 different routes this trip, the Del Norte and Primitivo. In May of this year I hiked Caminho Portugués. Pamplona isn't on .my itinerary, but since I was so happy with this accommodation last year, I decided to use Pamplona as my camino prep location. The fact that I come back, and extmy stay here, says more than anything I could write. Location, great staff, and friendly vibe make this a great stay for me.

The only thing I didn't like was leaving.

Nice, compact hotel in the heart of Pamplona. Fair price, 44€ for 2 plus 12€ for 24 hours of discounted parking, mid March. Note that hotel is in a pedestrian zone so you have to carry your luggage from your dropoff. Parking is 200 meters away in an underground garage. Tiny balcony overlooking the busy way but it gets very quiet after the bars close.

Wifi in our room was too weak to be useful and the staff was largely unconcerned even when I told them I needed it to work. I ended up using my laptop perched on a high stool in the deserted ground floor bar during the night.

This property is exactly the type you want to take if you want to feel the real heartbeat of the place where you have arrived. It is simple, but in the same time affordable, clean and wonderfully located. I enjoyed my stay and the bonus was an air conditioner because I was there in the mid of 40 C heat wave. Like this, my room was also my shelter and a place to allow me for a wonderful night rest after the exploration of this wonderful town. My recommendations for this small, but nice property.

The only detail that was a small, but relatively insignificant drawback, was the lack of the view from my room.

The old city centre location is ideal for sightseeing and amenities.

The parking payment procedure is not entirely clear on the website, information from the hotel, or staff at the time. Having paid to leave the car park, then returned for a refund of the difference between the public charge and the hotel discount rate, the proprietor was unhelpful and surly. The room was quite cramped for all my motorcycle luggage.

The property was good, however it was the staff that made it exceptional. The wait staff at the bar was friendly, and as a woman traveling by myself it really was wonderful. The owner took time to chat and it’s obvious that he is treating his employees right including his son. Amaya, Estela and I think his name is Carlos were fantastic. Keep up the great customer service!

We loved the location, it is just a few meters from the Plaza del Castillo. The cleanliness was fine. The staff also allowed us to leave our luggage in the reception area for a few more hours after the checkout, which was great!

The central location also comes with disadvantages- the street is very noisy at night, because of all the discotecas, so we did not sleep very well. The room was super small.. we could hardly put our luggage in the room - but if you are travelling light, the room size should be fine.

Perfect location in the heart of the 'old town', interior room was quiet, hotel staff helpful, bed comfortable. Nicely decorated, hotel connected to a restaurant. Although in the old town, the taxi could drive to the hotel.

I would have preferred a room with more light, air, and view. I understand if it had faced the street the noise level would have been higher though.

I loved how clean the room was. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept like a log. The staff was very helpful and efficient.

It was a bit pricey considering the small size of the room. Overall, very comfortable and far enough from the street that I did not hear the revelers at night. The staff was excellent, and the room was very clean. I just felt that given the room size, €51/night was a bit steep. That said, it does place you right in the heart of downtown, so that could explain the rate.

This hotel makes you feel like you are visiting a relative. The room is beautiful, clean, adorable place. Only French speaking…brush up on standard questions. I am very happy overall. The view of the village is beautiful from my window❤️

Loved the parking situation, made it so simple and knew that our car was safely tucked away at an extremely reasonable price. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was well equipped and the breakfast options were deliciously cheap.

Very little sound proofing between rooms, although this was only occasionally an issue.
