Lovely location. Peaceful, relaxing and all the staff were excellent and very accommodating. Room was great and a short walk from the main house. Pool area had amazing view from the deck. Lovely breakfast and dinner venue overlooking the dam. Beautiful sunsets. FOOD was excellent.

Just a suggestion.. More tables needed on the pool deck... a table between a set of 2 loungers is something I think would be helpful. Pool could do with some cosmetic attention... chipped paint and staining, however the water was clean and a great place to relax.

Our second time at theLab in Robertson and our second great experience! The room was wonderful as were the public areas. The little things count - somebody opening the front door for you when they see you approaching, the friendliness and smiles all round.

After a wonderful stay we had to check out before reception and the restaurant opened and as such a a breakfast pack was offered for the night before. Unfortunately that was a let-down which dulled the otherwise overwhelmingly positive experience - a very dry bacon and egg sandwich presented hot and sweating between two dinner plates, which you can obviously not take away. No packaging, no condiments, no juice - not even a serviette. That is the guest's last contact with the establishment guys - the one that's stuck in his memory!

The location is beautiful the staff are amazing all of them. I was served a lot by Prince, Ruzaan and Beatrice also Blommie, they are all lovely as a team they have excellent, chefs and hosts they are very accommodating. The wellness spa was such a lovely treat as well. The owners onsite also very friendly and engaged their guests. The staff seem very happy like a family.

The one thing I did not like about my room was the lack of a door or glass at the shower a bit to open for my liking over the door other than that very happy I would just book a different room.

The service all round is fantastic, and the bed very comfortable. Great atmosphere and beautiful dining area. We feel so comfortable and rested after going there and will definitely visit again soon. I noticed some small touches in the room which was great (mosquito repellant, water in the fridge, plenty of towels) and NO loadshedding!

Food not as good as usual and menu stayed the same on consecutive nights - which means we had a great dinner on the first evening but no matching alternative options on the second evening. We usually like to have a starter and a main, and neither were great the second time around. Breakfast could have been a little larger, with extra slice of bread.

Rita, Ruzaan, Beatrice and every other member of The Lab Robertson team went above and beyond to ensure that the week leading up to our wedding was perfect. We had a huge group of family and friends staying at this beautiful guesthouse, and the staff took it all in their stride and made it look effortless - taking care of different guests' needs and a bunch of very exciteable children too. The food at The Lab Robertson restaurant is fantastic! We ate here for most meals, and Rita and the chefs even went out of their way to cater a 'harvest style' table for lunch before our wedding in the afternoon - a last minute request that made the world of difference to myself, my bridesmaids and the rest of my family. The guesthouse is stunning, but the service with a smile is what really makes this place exceptional. Thank you for everything. We can't wait to come back to stay as a married couple. :)

There were some minor issues with the technology side of things, but I think a lot of this had to do with frequent load-shedding (which everyone in South Africa is affected by!) which reset some of the settings for lights etc. A generator was set up outside my room, especially, so that myself (the bride) and my bridesmaids could get wedding ready with zero interruptions :)

The staff was phenomenal. We felt at home the minute we arrived. Room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellently prepared and delicious. The modern technology was so convenient. The nicest coffee right next to my bed was a bonus. . Thanks so much.

Nothing serious but positive criticism. There were no mirrors in the bathroom and no bin in the room. The patio had no partition on the roadside which exposed us to passing traffic and unsightly weeds and a broken wire fence. But the hot tub made up for it. Especially in the evening.

Absolutely beautiful setting. The staff were wonderful and the rooms pristinely clean. Great meals in the restaurant with lovely ambiance. It was a very happy stay despite the niggles detailed below.

The room was quite noisy from both pump/electrical noises, to being able to hear neighbours easily. The neighbours Bluetooth linked into my Echo system and played through the speakers in my room on multiple occasions. My temperature controlled shower only gave cold water, despite the gauge saying it was 45 degrees. The cold showers were not pleasant. Room 17.

Enjoyed our short stay immensely. Facilities are fantastic, restaurant for dinner and breakfast, the pool, spa possibilities. Room was also equipped with everything we needed and the bathroom was very spacious and had such a nice shower. The guesthouse also provided a very homey feel, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The manager of the guesthouse, Ruzaan, in particular looked after us so well despite the external challenges with loadshedding and electricity supply from town that made things quite difficult and always had our best interests at heart.

We Loved the friendly, kind and supportive owners and their wonderful staff who were exceptional in the way they handled an electricity emergency. Most of the guests became firm friends and enjoyed the hospitality despite the 24 hour loadshedding. So much extra was done and the food was delicious. To top all this they even “doggysat” our two fur balls when we went to the wedding that was held on a nearby reserve.

One set of rude, drunk guests who couldn’t accept that loadshedding was a reality beyond the proprietors control. Fortunately they left and the rest of the guests enjoyed the hospitality.

The staff were wonderfully personable, we felt like royalty. The breakfast was exceptional and even though the dinner menu was limited, it was phenominally delicious. The chef has a wonderful command of flavour. They adapted their meals for my wife who is vegitarian in a way that did not leave feeling like a second-rate quest.

The room could have done with a welcome document/link explaining the fascilities and listing a room-service menu.
