The Lodge Porto Hotel

Location was great, just a 15 minute walk to the old city and our riverside room had fantastic views across the river to the city. Breakfast was lovely and so was dinner in the restaurant. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The pool and poolside bar were fantastic ! Overall the hotel was great place to stay.

There was no desk/dressing table or chairs in the room which made it difficult to sit and dry my hair or put make up on. The bar was downstairs at the back of the lobby and quite dark and very quiet and it wasn't possible to have a drink on the terrace unless you were having a meal. If the bar was next to the restaurant with the views over the city it would be much nicer.

Great fit out with a luxury feel. Our deluxe Douro river view room was ample in size with fabulous comfortable king bed. Luxury products & so nice to have turn down service with little treats & bathroom towel replacement twice daily. The hotel restaurant was an added bonus as it was extremely good with food that was both authentic & extremely good with views over the river & back towards Porto. Breakfast in the same restaurant is generous & varied. Every single staff member we were lucky enough to interact with over the entire hotel was friendly & helped us over & above the norm.

The pool area is lovely but very undersized for the the hotel. At the dnd of a hot summers day it was impossible to get a lounge to enjoy a swim & many disgruntled guests, including us, left hot & disappointed.

Excellent location, stunning view from our room. We were in Porto during a heatwave and the pool saved us! Everything was incredibly clean and the included breakfast was delicious. Stylish rooms and excellent décor. Attentive reception and housekeeping staff. The hotel helped organize a wine tour of the Douro Valley and we didn't have to do anything other than show up and pay. Highly recommend.

While the food was incredible, our dinner service at the hotel restaurant was pretty disappointing. We were left unattended to and like we were forgotten. With the cost of the meal, we wish we would have been a bit more attended to. Upon paying and leaving, we were the ones to notice that we had almost half of our bottle of wine left and the staff forgot about it entirely. When asked if we could cork it and take it upstairs, we waited for 20 minutes and never did receive a cork.

Very nice modern and stylish hotel with very comfortable room. Service was great throughout. Breakfast was very nice.

Pool area was quite nice, if a little small. When we were there the pool was often full of children who were very loud and dominating the pool. It also took quite a long time to get served as there was only one person serving drinks/food but who had to constantly go up and down the hotel to get the drinks/food. Finally, people were reserving beds by putting towels on them in the morning which was frustrasting given the lack of beds. Most of these issues could be improved by putting up rules and having someone there to enforce them, which may require an additional staff member. Also would be nice to provide herbal teas in the room.

The staff were extremely helpful and cheerful. The breakfast was excellent . The bed very comfortable. Bathroom facilities perfect. Wonderful view.

The food menu in the bar could have been more varied. The bedroom was ‘tight’ for two people. Only one chair for two people. Not enough hangers for women. Not enough drawers for two people. Only the surface of the Side tables were of use & with telephone, directory information etc not much space. More easily accessible and more electric plugs for charging iPads and telephones for two people!

Hands down, one of the most well appointed hotels of our stay. From the minute we checked in to the minute we checked out, we were treated like their most treasured guests. From the bell men to the front desk staff to the house keeping staff we were in the hallway with... nothing but warm smiles, genuine concern for our stay and willingness to do anything to make our stay perfect. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful! Not to mention, this hotel is beautiful and the attention to detail, especially the amenities and all of the little extras in our room was appreciated.

It would be helpful at breakfast to have someone helping at the coffee station. The machine was complicated for those unfamiliar with how to use it. We held up the line....

The included buffet breakfast with room was the absolute best ever with numerous and various food selections of top quality, fresh products like Iberian ham, local cheeses, fresh croissants, local eggs, cafe latte, and freshly-squeezed orange juice among my favorites. The entire hotel is decorated in the Douro River theme with top-quality furnishings and fixtures throughout. High quality fixtures and latest technology in room. Nice, quiet hallways with lush carpeting. Plenty of elevators throughout the hotel. Located one block from main dock/pier where most wineries and cruise boats dock. Local small cafes and wine places within walking distance. Staff are well-trained, professional, helpful, and smile.

Definitely a 5-star hotel but kindly provide a complimentary Nespresso machine in room. The minibar was not stocked due to COVID-19 but I don't see how that should be a reason for not providing complementary canned sodas and mixers. I did have complementary fresh fruit in my room. The in-house Dona Maria Restaurant room service gets extremely busy and delays orders on a Friday evening.

The location of the hotel was fantastic overlooking the Douro River on the Ribeira with easy access to all the attractions and restaurants. The hotel restaurant was fantastic - we had dinner there on our first night and the food was outstanding. Gorgeous view from our room and the most comfortable beds. The pool terrace was a welcome amenity to cool down.

The layout was a little confusing with different lifts for different floors.

A stunning boutique hotel in a perfect location, the port wine side of Porto. We chose this hotel for its unusual but dramatic interior design. If it’s too much for you there’s a bland Hilton next door. This was a 5 night treat for our 30th wedding anniversary celebration. We had a room on the top floor overlooking the pool as the river view was out of our price range. The rooms on the ground floor had its own outdoor sofas but you would have sun beds and bathers also just outside your room-so we took the top floor option. I had let it slip it was our anniversary while negotiating a double bed vs the twin option. On our arrival we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of champagne, fruit and chocolates! From the moment of our arrival all the staff congratulated us, giving us priority with tables with views etc. we felt so spoilt-it added to the whole occasion. The breakfasts were amazing and the staff so friendly and polite-they even could enforce the dress code without causing offence! The swimming pool was warm and pretty too! It was the best hotel experience we’ve ever had, even over London’s offerings (the ones we’ve afforded)

It’s a petty complaint but there’s NO TCMF! If you like a morning cuppa or an evening decaf coffee - bring a travel kettle or coffee sachets/tea bags and you can negotiate with the bar to make your hot beverage. Otherwise you pay for it! No sockets near the vanity mirror for hairdryers/stylers. The hotel does have some form over function but it’s forgivable.

Clean, utmost quality rooms with comfortable beds and quality shower. I booked the hotel because it had a pool I especially enjoyed it being quiet during the day, although it was not too big.

My minibar was empty. I was reminded twice about my checkout time despite not being late, i don’t appreciate being put in a rush while i was already going to be in time. Also when i arrived my room was not ready, which was not good for me after a last minute booking because of a flight cancellation. So it might be more related with my mood that I picked these annoying details than another time when i might have enjoyed the hotel more. They might have too many things being stolen by customers so they put a price list for things people might “take away” with them, I found this hillarous :D
