Hotel Fabrica do Chocolate

The breakfast was excellent and is made on demand, this does mean that they ask you to take a time slot, although they are flexible. The location is not in the centre but it is only a 5 minute walk, it is also 5 minutes to the river front and 10/12 minutes to the station. This was good for us as we took the train to the beaches up the coast to Caminha, Moledo, Ancora, Afife every day.

Nothing really, the view from the window can be a bit poor as the hotel is built into the old Chocolate factory. We suggest you ask for a room with a balcony like our room, room 3.

We stayed in Chocolate Fabric during our summer holiday and we really enjoyed our stay. Really good breakfast, great rooms with nice bathrooms and super helpful staff. Big bonus is good drinking water, no need for hauling plastic water bottles around. Coming from Nordics we really enjoyed nice AC cooling in otherwise hot Portugal summer. We stayed 10 days and there is DIY-laundry place around the corner (in case you need washing e.g. hiking gear). Viana do Castello has great crossfit gym, which I highly recommend and great kitesurfing possibilities.

No complaints about anything. Everything went great.

We liked the helpful staff and the revised way of doing breakfast since our last visit was good

We did not have our room cleaned even though we left the Notice on the door and the cleaning trolley was outside. We went to breakfast and then were out all morning. There is no Mini Bar anymore and the kettle cannot fit under the tap so you have to use a glass to fill it & there was no milk. Only one small bottle of water provided for 2 people

Location a few minutes walk from town centre. Helpful receptionist who assisted us in looking for restaurant. Breakfast was very good with good choice of items and good cofffees / juice.

The town is very quiet and seems to be a bit run down and empty. Hotel is very pleasant to but seems to probably have not been invested in due to Covid so although very clean rooms the hotel is getting slightly dated.

Hotel,,location and staff totally exceeded all our expectations. The little touches and breakfast were phenomenal. It was also right on the camino with wax to boot! Thank you for everything it was fantastic value for money and a real treat from the more stereotypical pilgrim hostels.

We loved our stay, but thought there would be more of the original chocolate factory within the hotel. Breakfast which was included in room price, was excellent. Staff were very helpful recommending an excellent restaurant nearby which actually served vegetarian food!

Nothing to dislike.

Fabulous concept and amazing features throughout. The staff were exceptional and the room exquisite. Lots of extra touches e.g. fridge, kettle, selection of teas/coffees…and a personalised bar of chocolate! Delicious breakfast included.

Noise from road. Big vehicles using road outside during the night and municipal big bins being emptied at around midnight.

The museum was intersting. Friendly helpful staff. Well equipped room,. kettle and drink selection welcome. Breakfast was ample with plenty of chocolate. Good restaurants within easy walking distance.

Utterly charming theme hotel, with quirky chocolate-style features in an old building. The staff were super helpful, and breakfast was fantastic.

The only drawback was that a room at the front of the building was by no means soundproof in relation to the outside road, including the 6 a.m. garbage pick up. This is a great place, but those sensitive to noise might want to remember the ear plugs.
