Trying to get a cup of coffee at the breakfast everyday many gust where complaining every morning But breakfast was good

great location, excellent amenities. the pools and ocean access were amazing. lots of restaurants and activities within walking distance. free parking which was excellent.

we had some small hiccups but they didn’t take away from the experience. our hotel room door was open when we first checked in, which was odd. our mini fridge also hasn’t been cleaned out, there was a partially eaten food item left behind. that was fine, didn’t bother us at all, but the first time I reported it to the front desk, the clerk said not to worry about it. I was afraid it hasn’t been restocked and we’d be charged for missing items so I brought it up to someone else and they sent housekeeping to check it out. the girl who showed up was SUPER rude. she dug through the fridge, answered a call on her phone, and left without saying anything to us. So.. hopefully we don’t get charged for missing stuff, I guess.

My wife and I absolutely LOVED this place. Very clean, well organized, super breakfast (my wife felt there should have been more vegetable options, though). The staff was very nice and helpful. We had a very nice woman at the hotel set up for us a very nice excursion on the western side of the island. The pools here are great, they have a sauna, jacuzzi and massage options on site. A hair salon is also on site. The hotel arranged a nice taxi to the airport after our stay. Our room was good-sized, GREAT view of the sea. Comfy beds. Maid service every day with clean sheets and plenty of towels. The bathroom was superb with lots of counter space. The WiFi worked well. Elevators were quick. We feel we should have stayed longer!!! The location of this hotel is awesome. It's a block away from the main street that leads right into all the shopping and restaurants, cafes, etc. in the center of the city. It's also an easy walk to the port and the old city. It is very close to the ferry to Porto Sancho. The hotel is in a nice, quiet spot up on a hill with several restaurants that are steps away (they range from an Irish pub to fine dining). We are DEFINITELY returning and we will stay here for sure. The city of Funchal... and the entire island of Madeira... are absolutely AWESOME!

It would be nice if the outdoor pool could be heated (particularly during winter which is when we stayed here). Also, as previously mentioned my wife would like to see more vegetable options for breakfast.

Breakfasts are always great with plenty of choice. The hotel location is fabulous, so near the centre of Funchal, and the views are amazing. As they have so many pools, people spread out and it never fees too congested. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.

It’s not so much what we didn’t like but maybe something to consider since we are talking about a 5-star hotel: - breakfast sitting needs to be more organised. On 5 out of 7 days, we were left to find our own 5-seat table, which involved carrying chairs and moving tables ourselves. Although some breakfast room staff are very friendly and helpful, others look overwhelmed and barely seem to know what they are doing. Cleaning and setting tables seems to be disorganised too. There must be a better system.

Only a short walk to the old town, lots of superb restaurants nearby for those who wish to dine outside the hotel. Breakfast was fabulous, so much to choose from, continental or traditional with freshly baked bread and maybe a glass of bubbly! The salt water swimming pools are so refreshing and the garden well cared for, so nice to relax in. All the staff were friendly and helpful, from the receptionist to waiters and house keeping staff. There was a fabulous view from our junior suite across the garden and the sea.

The carpets on the bedroom corridors are a little tired and worn in places which takes from the overall standard expected.

Beautiful hotel, fantastic location, amazing breakfast and incredibly friendly staff. The fact that the hotel has access to the ocean to swim is a massive asset. Madeira doesn’t have that many beaches so being able to swim in the ocean from the hotel was something we really loved.

The only things we didn’t like: 1) service at “the pub” attached to the hotel was really not too good. The staff who works there also works at the hotel. Our service there was below average and our food arrived cold. 2) our beds weren’t really made properly when room service would come. We often had to re-attach the bedsheets because they would come loose in the night, and room service didn’t tuck it in properly when they came.

Beautiful hotel. Great location, close to Funchal town and a good number of bars and restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. Lovely pool. Never felt too busy. Amazing sea view from room (16th floor). There was live music most evenings. The reception and concierge staff were very polite and helpful. If you join the Pestana Club (can do it whilst there) you get 10% off everything you charge to your room.

It was a nice place but didn’t feel like a 5 star hotel. It was missing those little extras you would get with a 5* property, such as free bottles of water. There are limited options for dining. Only one buffet style restaurant and a ‘pub’ that offered things like burger and chips. The staff at breakfast were very slow at cleaning the tables and bringing tea/coffee. The sun beds by the pool were quite uncomfortable. The only way to get info about the hotel was through a QR code that didn’t work.

Breakfast and restaurants were fantastic. Good variety and buffet in the evening was well worth a try. Pool area and views were spectacular. Room was a suite for 3 and there was an extra bed so 4 would have been very comfortable.

Found the room to be a little shabby and grubby. The shower door was old and broken and the whole place especially the bathroom needed a deep clean as there was mould in the bathroom and cobwebs in the actual room. The walls were scuffed. Not up to 5 star standard. Fitness area was also very ill equipped with just a couple of weights and one treadmill and one cross trainer.

We really like our stay at this hotel! Our room was spacious, quiet and clean. The bed was huge and really comfortable. The balcony view was breathtaking, there were also two sunbeds and it was also really spacious. The meals were plenty and sooo many choices!!! The waiters was so kind and helpful. There will be so many activities: pool party was so much fun! :) Also the hotel staff was so attentive, they know when my birthday is, and they brough me champagne, it was very nice from them! After check-out, we could leave our lagguage at the hotel, they were so polite and kind, it was a really nice experience! :) I really recommend this hotel!!!

Excellent choice at breakfast with both cold and hot food. Swimming pool was very clean and a good size. Beds were comfortable. The rooms were at the front of the hotel and did hear music one night and noisy cars but then shut the door which kept the noise out. We visited The Pub (attached to the hotel) for drinks a couple of times which was very pleasant. The hotel was in an ideal location with shops, restaurants and local attractions within half an hour walk. We would come back to Madeira to explore more and stay in the same hotel.
