Leonardo Hotel IJmuiden Seaport Beach

We stayed here 4 years ago when it was the Apollo and weren't disappointed on our return this year. Just a 1 night stay to kill a day before getting the ferry back to Newcastle. Fantastic family room with balcony and marina view. Very spacious and comfortable. We ordered a meal via room service which was very good. Hotel bar/reception area has lovely furnishings and nice relaxed vibe. Husband made use of free access to sauna and gym. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Handy for Ijmuiden an Zee beach and less than 10 minutes drive to ferry terminal.

Can't fault anything about our stay. Balcony height perhaps a bit low??

This former Holiday Inn is a nice hotel at an interesting location 5 minute walk from Ymuiden beach, good for watching sea birds and ship travel in and out of the Ymuiden locks. It is a great base for long walks along the wide beach, or on the >2km long south pier or on the paths through the dunes, where interesting remnants of German WW-II bunkers can be explored. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Good buffet breakfast and a variety of restaurants in walking distance. Large (public) parking area along the back of the hotel, with fees covered by hotel.

Unique location, just a little walk away from the beach with cosy beach bars and a sporty vibe with lots of young folks surfing etc. The restaurant Chi Ling offers marvelous authentic Chinese & Mongole food within a very esthetic setting, just a few steps away from the hotel.

Although the room (we had a suite) was very charming and comfy the bathroom ist very outdated and especially the separate toilet room was quite an imposition! It is so small that you either break your spine or suffer from a claustrophobic panic attack when you need to use the toilet...fortunately we are slender and flexible people ;-) The breakfast buffet could offer a wider variety, but was basically ok.

All was great. At reception I found a very warm welcome. As I booked 2 rooms they made all possible to have the rooms next to each other. The rooms were clean, laundry was fresh changed. As welcome gift I found bottle of water and tea and coffee. Very nice. Everything we need, the hotel made all to help us or provide. Elevator was silent and well maintained. Good food at restaurant. At the bar I found relaxing atmosphere and proffesional people who knows their job. The balcony was equipped with small table and 2 comfortable chairs. Nice touch especially to wake-up and watch the sun coming over the hills. Definitely I will visit again.

The fridge in the room is good to have but really noisy.

My high rating reflects a stay where I was selected as Guest of the Day so we had a huge corner one bedroom suite with extra amenities. But service was generally good for a one night stop on a month long bike trip. Breakfast was good. Room was great. A secure bike garage was available. A 500 m walk to the beach.

Not much staff was around for help with bags etc. The staff were friendly but not particularly helpful. One food side dish was improperly cooked so they took it away with no offer to substitute (we weren’t charged). We requested assistance with an onward booking in their own chain and they gave us a phone number (it was not busy and they could have made the call for us). I did not get the impression that it was a happy work place and maybe that reflected on staff.

Great location, just a few hundred meters walk from the IJmuiden beach.

Of course not all rooms have the harbor view and our room had a view of the garbage container and the parking so that was not the best, but all other points were good. Friendly staff and good breakfast.

The location was excellent and the hotel was clean comfortable. We had our dogs with us and they were made most welcome. The staff were very helpful.

There was nothing to dislike. But I must add that it best not to have a packed lunch as its not of good quality and very expensive for what you get.Sandwiches were dry and consisted of dry cheese and ham. It was a shame as everything else was excellent.

I like the place, it was quiet and very pleasant to stay. We had family suit and was enough place for 4 people. We had the best view from our room, in front was the sea port, and the side was the land view. The beds were spacious, Bathroom was clean, but Toilette was very small, the balcony was not clean but we could not use it because it was so windy anyway.. The beach is near to the Hotel and just few minutes to walk, lucky we had the sun, and wind that many people played with their kites. It was such a wonderful weekend. I would highly recommend this place for someone who wants quietness and serenity 😎

Fireplace was very nice and cozy. Jacuzzi was great. The view was amazing! The bed was very comfortable. Having the balcony to breath some fresh air by the sea was also great. The staff was super nice, my compliments to their work! The breakfast and dinner were delicious, great food (personally my favourite was the burger).

The wifi didn't work by the jacuzzi and sometimes in bed. The facilities were great but a bit old (shower was not the best). In the suite would have been nice to have a couch for 2 people next to the fireplace. We spent a lot of time by the fireplace drinking wine and after a while those chairs are not the most comfortable. The TVs were also quite old and the image didn't have the best quality.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I stayed here with my dog. I was surprised to find a tennis ball and treats waiting for her in the room. She was SO excited to have them after a long plane ride. It was an extra touch that made the stay special.

The rooms are a little bit dated and the TV wouldn't turn on.
