Charming beach cabins right next to the beach. The property has a small restaurant that serves breakfast, dinner, and drinks. There is a beach lounge area between the cabins and the beach proper, and you simply walk out the back to get to the beach. Great for the beach.

We had a breach view cabin which was great. Most do not. Since the common sun chair / lounge area is between the cabins and the beach, we had people always right in front of our cabin. All in all not a problem, but worth noting the lack of privacy. Can help to speak Spanish - we had trouble as English and Italian speakers with very basic Spanish. (Fellow guests were kind enough to translate.)

Beachfront as advertised. Room was large and comfortable. Balcony had a hammock. Restaurant on site was reasonable price, and honestly some of the better food in El Cuyo. The Restaurant staff was very friendly.

Bed was not very comfortable. Linens were pretty ratty, Think Motel 6. The sliding door to the balcony didn't fully close, so it didn't feel very secure. While this doesn't seem to be limited to Casa Mate, the beaches were not cleaned of seaweed and it stank very badly, like public waste plant bad acrid and stung your nose. I was better when the sun went down, and the wind picked up a little, but if hotels in the area could each chip in a little to have a crew clean up the beaches each morning it would be WAY better.

This place has a pleasant and happy vibe. The owner is always around. The staff are very pleasant and courteous. The hotel is RIGHT on the beach. The rooms are fine. We stayed in the upstairs room across from the restaurant and appreciated the little balcony! We had some drinks in the bar and enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere. We were pleasantly surprised by the breakfast. Guests can order from the menu and there are several choices (pancakes, eggs, etc.). The portions are small, but it was adequate and you can always visit the El Cuyo restaurants for a brunch later on. All in all, this is a great place for a night or two.

There are a lot of rooms crammed into a tight space. It feels a bit tight at times.

Location is perfect! You wake up literally steps away from the beautiful Cuyo beach. Our room was well-kept and comfortable... quite rustic but it worked due to the rustic nature of the location. Hammocks by the beach were clean, breakfast included was yummy and it was quiet at night. Perfect to rest and disconnect. Wi-Fi was so-so but we didn't expect any different!

It is quite expensive for what you get. No beach towels available (there are white towels in the room but we didn't want to bring those to the beach). Bed wasn't the best and although everyone was polite, it seems a bit short-staffed. There's no "check-in" and "check-out" process... which can be a bit confusing.

El Cuyo is a remote village, perfect to relax, with few activities available, but kite surfing. When we were there, it was extremely windy particularly in the afternoon, but we still enjoyed walking on the beach and swimming in the morning. Nearby tours of the salt lakes and las Coloradas are well worth doing. The village does not have many shops or attractions, but locals will all be most helpful and welcoming. Sunsets from the pier are epic.

The location is amazing. The view is stunning and there is the vibe can be described as lay back. Which is exactly what we did. Breakfast was very good.

The restaurant unfortunately did not always met up with our expectations for dinner. Not only seemed that a lot of the items were not available on the menu, a few items like the mahi mahi were also clearly not fresh and there fore quite dry.

El Cuyo is a paradise! And this hotel is located right on the paradise beach - you just step out of your room right in to the white sand.. The room itself was well shaded and it didn't get hot inside, the bed was very comfortable and you could just lay on it and stare at the paradise view outside. There are sunbeds and hammocks to relax at the beach. Breakfast was great - loved the eggs Benedict and fresh juice. You could also get lunch and dinner there, which is important as most of the other restaurants in this village are open only on weekends. Really felt like I'm in paradise during my stay there!

You have to realize that El Cuyo is a very small and remote village with limited amenities. There are some power and water outages during the day. It is not a luxury hotel in a traditional way as everything is not brand new. So maybe it is a bit overpriced for this region. But we didn't mind all this because the real luxury is to have this opportunity to stay in this beautiful remote paradise :). The only thing I would have liked to have were some cocktails :)

The overall ambience feels almost like a tropical paradise, considering that it is right next to an almost entirely empty beach. The hotel is designed in a tastefully "primitive" jungle style. The room was okay nothing crazy, the bed was comfy. I liked the shaded backyard that is gradually turning into the beach.

None of the staff spoke any English (although they were friendly and helpful). There was a bit of noise from the adjecent construction (was not bothersome).

really close to the beach, yummy food & great drinks (we came midweek and there weren’t really any other places to get a cocktail etc.) really peaceful & full of nature. the pelicans at sunrise were amazing.

we had the room at the top of the stairs as you enter, and there wasn’t much privacy. the curtain across the bedroom was a bit flimsy & the outside lights were left on all night which was annoying but minor things really! it was so lovely.

The site is in front of the beach, it is beautiful to see through the window. It is one of the best beaches in Mexico. The breakfast is quite good and the attention is excellent

There was a day and part of the night that the electricity failed. We know it can happen. The site has power plant but only works for common areas. Without electricity, the heat is a bit strong to be able to sleep well
