Hotel Boutique Casa Garay

They accommodated all of our needs. I had a tour scheduled before the time we can check in to the hotel. But the lobby staff kept our luggage and kept safe for us so that we could go and still enjoy our guided tour . They also prepared a special treat for my husband since his birthday was during our stay and surprised him with it by coming by our room and singing happy birthday. The place was clean and right in the heart of Oaxaca where you can find a little of everything. Shops, bars, restaurants, food markets. Great stay!

If you have already been walking around town all day and your room on the third floor. Going up three flights of stairs was not so fun. Having to carry your luggage down the stairs was not so great either. Although I'm sure you can always call the lobby for help.

This is a great hotel conversion of an old home. Beautifully done. Hotel is small and cozy. Location can't be beat. You are within walking distance of major attractions of Oaxaca City. The price is a great value. Service is excellent.

The WiFi could have been better. The signal will not go into your room. Works well in lobby areas. The hot water in the shower was not consistent but we got by.

Location was great! Breakfast was good! I didn't like that they start serving breakfast at 8:30 am and that when I made my reservations I paid for free breakfast but there is a maximum amount of $ that I can used, $100 pesos, over that amount I am responsable to pay. That was not explained when I booked for this hotel.

If there was an elevator, my room was on the third floor. And that I have to paid for part of my "free breakfast".

This is a beautiful boutique hotel located right next to the oldest market and within a few blocks of the main square. The rooms are equiped with lovely furniture and the bed was really comfortable. It's quiet and perfecly safe, and the staff is absolutely amazing. They serve food and drinks in the restaurant downstairs and have a cool rooftop. They will also help you book tours and a taxi to the airport (250 pesos).

Can be noisy at night if someone is chatting at the rooftop or walking up the stairs. The rooms have no sound insulation and you can hear everything. Bring your earplugs. The Internet connection is spotty - don't plan to work from here. The rooms are dark - you will have to keep your lights on the whole time, which is fine.

The location was interesting and kind of noisy. This is our first time there so we weren’t aware of all the traffic and the sidewalk stands. Everything was convenient. We enjoyed the little bakeries and the markets. We enjoyed our stay.

We had a portable air conditioning unit in our room. It worked OK but was not enough for comfortable sleeping.

convenient to zocalo but on opposite side from most restaurants and museums (had to walk an extra 2-3 blocks-not a very big deal). Had to rely on our Spanish in communicating with staff

The location is very convenient to the local artisan markets, zocalo, restaurants and historic centre. Our room was comfortable and quiet with A/C and a fridge. Filtered water is available to guests. We were a little apprehensive upon arrival because the street is very busy however once inside it’s very quiet.

Toilet issues where we have to manually turn the notch after every flush in order to fill up the tank with enough water in preparation for next flush. Staff a bit limited on their English skills

Very conveniently located. Staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were amazing and the room was clean. Although it is in centro and near several markets and lots of street vendors, it was wonderfully quiet at night. The entire hotel is gorgeous. I loved having a fridge in the room. We arrived almost 2 hours before check in, but they had the room ready early for us. They also let us store our luggage there after check-out while we explored the area. I appreciate the 12 noon check-out.

The shower head was clogged, but staff came immediately and fixed it. I would love a microwave and coffee maker in the room. But the restaurant had delicious coffee.

Nice helpful staff, location south of Zócalo Square, big room, coffee and water provided in the room. Anything you needed like a hair dryer or coffee refills were provided. Roof terrace a bonus.
