City Centro by Marriott Oaxaca

The architecture is very nice. Also, we asked for a quiet room, and we received just that: a quiet room. Just early in the morning, other guests were making noise (earlier than 8am), and at half past 9:00, someone was knocking at our door to ask for the "status of the room" -- whatever this means, and whyever this is needed!

We did not like that our door was knocked at 9 am--we were awake already, but what is the need to bother the guest, if checkout is at noon? And again, we were coming back to the room at 11, and the housekeeper knocked our door some minutes later to ask if we were about to leave. My question is: why? Checkout is at noon! When we came out, there she was, just waiting outside the door. We felt watched by the housekeeper. Not comfortable. Otherwise, everything would have been 10

The location was perfect – walking distance to the historic district, and well located within a colourful neighbourhood full of street art, cafes, restaurants, and across the street from an old church. The room was incredibly clean, modern, and the bathroom and shower were great. The staff was very friendly, and the best part was the rooftop pool, perfect for a daily afternoon swim in the sun. The pool bar was just what we needed.

Honestly, nothing. The service was excellent and we felt very well cared for during the trip. Signing up to the rewards program allowed us to check out at 3pm on the last day, which was perfect for us as we had an evening flight.

City Centro, the pink hotel is super cute, right in the middle of all of the action & activities. Being across the street from the beautiful Templo de San Juan Matias Jalataco was amazing, restaurants & boutique shopping was all within walking distance. And of course, the hotel is beautiful backdrop for photos!!

Our room was a little small, the closet door would hit the other door, the overall lighting in the room was very harsh and our toilet was not flushing when we first got there, BUT those were minor compared to everything else, we really did love our room.

The hotel is about a 15-20 min walk to the center but it’s a nice walk and the hotel is in a beautiful neighborhood. The room was very comfortable and the property photographs beautifully. We never had the hotel breakfast, but there are a ton of great coffee shops within a few blocks of the property.

Just something to note - we sometimes had a tough time communicating with the front desk staff as not all of them spoke English and we don’t speak Spanish. Not a negative of the hotel, just something to be aware of.

Some of the staff members were excellent and very nice. I loved the design and the pool area was beautiful with a nice view.

It was really hard to sleep in. On the weekend they have a brunch buffet with live music, so it is very hard to sleep in. And on Monday, the last day of my stay, there was a really loud man on a microphone starting at 7am. I think it might have been some kind of graduation but I was unable to sleep in due to it.

The hotel is located on a beautiful, quiet street, within walking distance to the hustle bustle of the city center. It was the best place to return to and rest after exploring the city. I loved the modern decor of the rooms combined with Oaxacan charm. The room was very comfortable and clean. There were a couple times when we asked the staff for help. They were very nice and addressed our requests immediately. Some tips - You can ask the hotel to book you a taxi to and from the airport before your arrival. Breakfast was not included for us, but there are so many places nearby that you can walk to and get some delicious things to eat for cheap.

Honestly not much. Wish the pool was bigger and wished there was a hot tub, but that's just nitpicking!

Although the hotel is called City Centro, it was actually in a wonderful suburb called Jalatlaco which was so much better than staying in the centre would have been. We found the doormen/ security guards great and the swimming pool was a really big hit for our family! The design of the building is incredible and well thought out. There are some great street food vendors in the area that should definitely be supported as their food was delicious.

We found the receptionists not all that willing to assist us and the doormen were better able to help us find laundry services etc; the restaurant-bar was overpriced and so we never ate there. more hooks for towels in the bathroom would be helpful otherwise, a lovely place.

Staff was really nice and friendly, all areas of the Hotel was very clean and Service desk was quick to provide us with taxi service when we needed one.

Unfortunately the only issue was the Mattress was very hard, it would be nice to have a little more comfortable mattress to lay on after walking around the city to have a more comfortable sleep and rest. That was our only issue with this property!

The design of the public areas was very cool. The bed was extremely comfortable. Excellent location. Colorful barrio. Nice restaurants and bars in the area. Walking distance to city center and centeal bus station. Special mention to Angel, who was excellent from start to finish. He was a star. Great recommendations and always smiling.

Storage space was very limited in the room. Breakfast was rather limited for the price.

Very nice, new facility up to any standard in the US. Had almost a business feel to it, although almost guests were families our couples on vacation. Very nice layout with exceptionally nice courtyard and pool areas. Bed was really comfortable. Maid service did a great job. Neighborhood should not be underestimated as it is one of the fun and colorful we saw on our whole trip. Great restaurants, including some wonderful breakfast spots, within 2 blocks. Would highly recommend although there are cheaper places too.

Small things only. Room needed more towel bars. Shower door allowed water to escape. That’s all.
