Garlands Del Rio

We had a room on the upper floor with inner yard view - the room was clean. Towels and bed sheets were fine - it was very quiet in the room and in the entire hotel - there were safe box, fridge, good TV and efficient AC as well as celling fan in our room. And even an iron - Wi-Fi worked well - water pressure was good and there was always hot water (just let it run for a couple of mins to get hot). Shower drain worked well - our king bed was big and comfortable/soft - we felt safe and comfortable in the hotel and area around - there is just 15 mins walk to the beach or to the historic town center - we did't have hotel breakfast. In the touristic area, you can get a fair breakfast for 2 for 500 pesos

You get what you paid for. We think it was a fair deal. You just need to know and be ready for: - in our room, toilet was behind a wall and door not high enough to reach the celling. That means there is no real privacy or soundproof. Fine for one guest. But if you are a couple but not that close, than that room is not for you. - room was small, no much place to store luggage and put clothes - that's not a new fancy room/furniture for a honeymoon - there is no elevator but if you need, reception can get help with luggage

The location was good - easy access to the malecon and beach. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of public areas in the hotel and they were nice spaces.

Our room "the countess" was on the small side -there was no comfortable place to sit in the room; bathroom door was useless; step in bathroom somewhat dangerous; the closet mini - though not a hugh issue for us. It also seemed that decorations and features of the room were afterthoughts and not cohesive. We looked into other rooms and they looked well thought out - and roomy. No beach towels were available.

One of my favourite hotels I've ever stayed in! From the moment I arrived, sweaty and exhausted after a long flight, and they brought me chips and a frozen margarita, I knew I was in for a good time. The bed was the comfiest I have ever slept in and I slept so well while I was there. I stayed in the room 'Antonio' on my final night and it was incredible - definitely get this room if you can! Gorgeous views of the jungle and river. Staff were amazing, especially Ivan, who gave fantastic recommendations, and one of his colleagues (I didn't find out her name) who gave me tips for visiting Quimixto. The building is beautiful and has everything you need - the guest kitchen is really useful if, like me, you drink a lot of tea and want to buy and prepare fruit from the local markets! Purified water on tap so you don't have to buy loads of plastic bottles. The pool is lovely too - temperature is just right (the sea is almost TOO warm!) Location is great. It really felt like home for a few days.

There were a lot of mosquitoes by the pool and in the kitchen - but the hotel have thought of everything and have a little box with repellent (and also suncream) for you to use by the pool! Just be warned if you're a mosquito magnet like me - use the repellent!!

The hotel itself was in a great location, very close to restaurants and other attractions, but tucked away so you didn't get much city noise. I loved the layout with the many seating areas, staircases, colorful walls and variety of art that made it all so charming. The staff were very friendly and helpful- they gave us great tips and recommendations. We enjoyed the warm pool, the communal kitchen, and bar services - I would absolutely stay here again and look forward to returning.

In the room we stayed in, because of the door, the bathroom was a bit awkward to get in and out of.

Staff and location were great. right in the heart of the Romantic district . Walking distance to the "Mosaic park'. Right across the river from Isla Cuale,and its colorful market. Walking distance to restaurants and Beach.

no reflection on the ,hotel but the river had been diverted due to hotel construction up river. Just be aware that this is a'charming. rustic' room and with that comes bathroom doors that dont close completely so if you are a very private person, it could be an issue.( Sme issue with my friends room that had an alcove but no closed door separating toilet with rest of room.

Spent 3 nights mid november 2022 at the Garlands del Rio. Had previously staed 5 years earlier at their sister resort - Rivera del Rio. We really enjoyed the charm and beauty of this boutique hotel starting with the stoned entrance as you walk in. Beautiful quiet view by the river in the early morning. Coffee shop right next door for those who did not take the breakfast plan, or Oxxo blocks away. Nice pool, pool area has alot of shade though, ( no sun after 3ish in mid novmber).

We were assigned the King Room = Ferrentino I d'ont believe it should be sold as a King Room, it is very dissapointing and does not reflect the beauty and charm of the hotel and other King Rooms. It does not have windows to the outside, feels stuck and crammed. Luckily, the staff were able to accomodate us for our last evening and anniversary and changed us room. We were assigned the COUNTroom. Beautiful spacious room! Grateful for their service and attention.

I loved my room which was the countess room. The bathroom reminded me of rose petals and pearls, simple and clean. The shower had plenty of room and hot water. The bed was super comfy and it made you feel a bit like a princess in the high ceiling dome. Awesome staff and felt secure!

I think the area around the pool could be made more inviting and cleaned up in the back. The picture advertised is taken from the opposite side of entry, which is definitely the better view. Please provide your guests with mosquito repellent while they eat breakfast so we don't get eaten as well.

The location along the canal was exceptional. The property itself is a bit quirky - it's hard to find off the street, and seems to be a bunch of buildings cobbled together with tons of hidden nooks, crannies and staircases. But that only adds to the charm. The staff - Sonja, Martha and three lovely ladies in the kitchen - really made our stay with their outgoing personalities and genuine care. You're just not going to find that in a big, impersonal property.

Never figured out how to work the tv, but really, what the heck are you doing watching tv on vacation in Puerto Vallarta? Just as well.

Great character, wonderful, enticing and stimulating spaces. Every room is unique it seems! Perfect location and a beautiful oasis. The staff were brilliant, so helpful, so friendly and considerate. The pool and bar area are great and the various spaces between the rooms and terrace outside alongside the river are beautiful. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and we were sad to leave!

The water pressure and flow were poor in our room. There weren't really enough sockets, we got round this by unplugging the bedside lamps to charge our phones etc. The breakfast was disappointing, although we were happy with the coffee.

First off, the grounds of this hotel are gorgeous. Beautiful foliage, vibrant colors, gorgeous architecture. Plus, our room had a balcony so that we could sit and enjoy the view. The pool was clean, the breakfast was good, the location is great. Not so close to the beach that it’s in the middle of the busy-ness but close enough for a quick walk. Lots of food choices close. The hotel staff were very helpful and gave us great recommendations for places to go and eat, excursions, and answered all of our questions.

When we first arrived, no one answered the front door or the phone so we were waiting outside for a bit to get in (but once we got in we understood why -small staff size but very friendly, they give you a very personal experience). We also were hoping that they had food later in the day as we got back from an excursion and were very tired and didn’t want to leave the hotel to eat but they were able to recommend food that was very close to the hotel.
