Daiwa Roynet Hotel Wakayama Castle

Great value offered considering the complete range of room amenities and my top floor room with castle views. Location is perfect for sightseeing in Wakayama City since this hotel is right across the Castle Park.

Front desk was difficult to find since it is on the third floor and there are no directions on the ground floor in English. Elevators are too little, small, slow, and unimpressive for such a skyscraper hotel. Staff spoke little English, which is strange for such a big hotel in a big, tourist-oriented city close to Kansai International Airport.

It was a surprise that the Wakayama Castle can be viewed closely from our windows. The room size is truly big. The hotel also got a sizable carpark that allows us to park the car very easily. The very very big AEON MALL WAKAYAMA is only 13 minute drive away, in which we could buy almost everything we wanted to. Lastly, it's also not too far away from the KIX Int'l Airport, less than an hour drive to reach there. Could be a good choice of hotel before leaving for other countries.

would be great if it has hot spring (onsen) facilities also! Somehow we could not find Gym to use... might be we missed it.

I must've paid for the room upgrade because I was on one of the highest floors with a view of Wakayama castle. I could've spent all day looking out the window. And then the castle lit up at night as well. The restaurant was spacious and the breakfast buffet included an omelet bar and cereal as well as the usual Japanese and Western fare.

It's not the hotel's fault that Wakayama is spread out and really needs a car to get around. Most restaurants are a short walk away though there are two in the building. Fortunately the hotel is on the main bus lines.

The staff! They were cheerful, polite, efficient, helpful (it seems they could anticipate one’s queries!) knowledgeable and patient. On-site laundry facilities - good to have especially when one is moving from city to city (travelling light with minimal clothing etc). It’s location is great for our purpose - though a little away from the main train station and city centre - of having some peace and quiet. It’s located right next to Wakayama Castle - nice walking paths.

Better / more lighting in the rooms. One of the beds was tucked into a corner…. great if you’re one who prefers (almost total) darkness to fall asleep.

The view of Wakayama Castle from our room was really nice. The buffet breakfast had a nice mix of Japanese and Western food. The location being so close to the castle grounds was very convenient.

We booked two rooms for 4 adults and 2 children. One of the rooms only had 2 twin beds and a pull out single sofa bed so the 4 year old was expected to sleep with the parent in a twin bed which made for an uncomfortable stay. The rooms were a little on the small size.

The hotel is right across from the Wakayama Castle. The view of the castle from our room and the breakfast room was excellent. The hotel practiced strict hygiene rules at breakfast, the quality of which was very good. Although it looks like JR Wakayamashi Station is nearer to the hotel on the map, it is much more convenient and direct to get off at JR Wakayama Station. The taxi ride to the hotel from there is 1,000 Yen.

Would be more helpful if front desk staff could communicate in English. We appreciate their efforts though.

Clean hotel room, comfortable, 2 double beds, incl. sofa bed, bathroom including amenities. Our room (No. 1312) has view to the city, opposite rooms are with view to the castle. Wash and dry machine for 500/400 Yen. Wifi was very good. Walking distance to the castle. Pubs and restaurants nearby. Public car parking is situated directly opposite to the hotel, 24 hours for 1000 JPY.

The room is pretty big for 3 people and really clean. The hotel staffs are nice and friendly.

Far from the station and pretty difficult to find since it is in a big building with some other restaurants and book store. I took an elevator to 15th floor and it is a chapel. You just need to keep an eye out for a sign that say elevator to the hotel front which is also on a 15th floor.

Great view to oversee the Wakayama Castle. Room is spacious. The hotel is a bit worn but it is very clean and staff is also very friendly. Within walking distance there are convenient stores and restaurants.

It's not close to train station so probably is only suitable for people who drive. But the carpark is not free, cost 1000 yen per 24 hr.

Excellent breakfast with plenty of variety. The castle view was amazing. The location was great since we could not get lost. Early checkin was 2:00 pm and late checkout was 11:00 am, far better than other places we stayed at during our 3 week vacation in Japan.

The room was too warm, even when we tried to leave the window open.
