Albergo Bologna

I like a healthy breakfast, the muesli, seeds, dried and fresh fruit selection at the Albergo Bologna would embarrass most large modern hotels. which is why i personally choose the Bologna, the coffee is excellent, if you like cakes, croissants and local meats and cheeses, fresh bread etc its also a winner - however they dont offer cooked breakfast if that is your thing.

Parking, like most hotels in Verase is difficult - Its on a one way street and they do have limited parking which is first come first served. If you cant park its a long detour to the multi-storey which I use which is a 4 minute walk, 7 euros for the night, it closes at 10pm and opens about 7 so is fairly secure.

Our host met us near the albergo and directed us to the secure parking area then helped take our bags to the lift which carried us to the first floor. We had lunch at the restaurant and ate there every day we were in Varese as the food was so good. I wish we could have stayed there for another week. Varese would be a good base to explore the Italian lakes. As it was, there was plenty to do, including the walk to Sacro Monte, 2kms of winding path past 14 glorious little chapels with views on every side. It would be worth doing the walk over a weekend as there is a museum at the top of the hill which looked very interesting but it's only open on Saturdays and Sundays.

Nothing to dislike

We booked two rooms (single and double), both of them were great. Air conditioning was good, we got a coat (with toys) for a baby, beds were comfy, wifi quick, breakfast good (with great coffee) and employees are professional. There is an elevator in the hotel. This hotel is a great option if you fly from Malpensa (easy to get by car and train - tried both). Hotel has free parking and located in historical center at the same time. Besides, restaurant is totally amazing (i booked it in advance). As far i understood from stickers on the door, restaurant has michelin mentions for many years and is affordable at the same time (100 euro for a dinner with vine and desert for 4 people). We will definetely come back!

The hotel was really nice and the staff super welcoming. We were late for everything, checked in later than announced, arrived late for dinner, breakfast, check out... They never made any problem and were extremely nice. The rooms were super comfy and filled with nice touches, and the food in the restaurant was very tasty. We also liked the location, less then 10m away from the train station and right in the middle of the centre with many cute shops and gelaterias around. But also if you are going to Monte Santo the bus stops just in front of the hotel. Everything perfect, keep up the good work!

Lovely staff, friendly and accomodating. The breakfast was excellent with a variety of options, even milk alternatives and gluten free cereal for those who want/require it. Lunch and dinner at the restaurant is delicious and reasonably prices, they served so quickly, I didn't even have time to wait! The hotel is located next to a street, but quiet at night and any shops, parks, public transportation can be reached easily on foot. The room was clean and well maintained with everything one could need, from fridge to safe.

. Very nice large room, excellent bed and linen, I actually enjoyed the room much . Location is great, but might be a bit noisy in evening and early morning . Food at the restaurant is excellent and plentiful, I had a tuna tartare pistachio, excellent - and breakfast was great- . Staff very friendly and helpful - they got me a free parking spot, really appreciated . Wifi was working well, which is not always the case in many places

Clean and comfortable, the staff was very kind

When I checked in, I was not given info on house keeping nor was there a “do not disturb” hanger so it was interesting trying to communicate with housekeeping every morning to let them know when I wouldn’t be around

the location is really perfect - its located directly in the middle of the old town of varese. the room was really clean and quite big.

it was quite loud because of the restaurants location directly underneath the window of our room. also you should keep in mind that the breakfast ends at 10 as well as the checkout is at 10 in the morning.

The staff were fantastic. I fractured my ankle and they did everything to accommodate. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable beds. The restaurant is top notch, generous breakfast with excellent coffee, constantly replenished. And the location is great on edge of the old part but with very good public transport to outlying areas.

The air conditioner is not very effective.

Breakfast was delicious and also very nutritious with a variety of protein and carbohydrates. The service was excellent . Our room was spacious with beautiful decor and excellent standards of cleanliness.

I cannot think of anything to improve.
