Hotel Plaza

Everything was beyond expectations at this hotel 1) The hotel was family owned and operated. The hotel manager was always present during the morning breakfast and was interested in whether the guests were missing something - for us he even found a place where we could buy specialized trekking maps, developed in cooperation with the Italian mountain hiking club 2) During the meal, we listened to relaxing classical music, specially selected by the hotel manager 3) The decor of the lobby and dining room was complemented by paintings painted by the manager's mother - the whole interior made the guests feel as if they were at home, not at the hotel 4) The breakfasts were excellent: they not only consisted of sweets (as usually in Italy), but also included specific dishes, as well as bio elements such as nut mixes, prunes, real honey. The juices were not sugary, also freshly squeezed. Natural yoghurts, bio. 5) Best location in Salerno: a) public transport stops: 3 minutes b) intercity transport stops, including Amalfi: 2 minutes c) train station: 2 minutes d) Marina departure for the Amalfi coast: 4 minutes (+ a further 4 minutes to cross the marina to board the ship). There is no such thing

it doesn't happen very often for me as a solo traveller that you get a room with a view, here I had brilliant view! that included hills and houses, fire works at night for about 5min, sunset, rainbow, railway station entrance. It's a 1min walk to the Stazione, very convinient short distances to the ferrie for Amalfi coast, to Salerno's Old town, busses; very friendly staff in the hotel, nice room!

The hotel was an easy walk from the train station, so worked out well for our rainy evening arrival. Reception was welcoming & efficient and we were appreciative of the elevator to transport our luggage to our 5th floor room. The room was on the back side of the hotel, was quiet, well ventilated, roomy, had a comfy bed, mini refrigerator & a great shower. Breakfast was excellent & custom coffees were made to order. The hotel is attractive & our contacts with hotel staff (owner, reception, breakfast & housekeeping) were very positive.

Its location is across the street from the train station (Salerno Centrale) and very close to the port (Porto di Salerno) in case you need a cruise trip to Amalfi beach or any other location.

The room (mine was single room) was good and clean, but I didn’t like the air conditioning system, it’s somehow old where you can only control it via a wall-hanged module (has only 3 levels)

Wonderful hotel, one of the best we have ever stayed in. It is perfectly located, literally next to the railway station, the bus station for the Amalfitan Coast and very close to the harbour. Very spacious, extremely clean and cosy rooms, with a lot of attention to details. The paintings are an especially wonderful addition. Plentiful and delicious breakfast. We appreciated the classical music played discretely. But the most wonderful feature of the hotel is its staff. From the very polite and attentive owner, who had the kindness to explain to us the story of the hotel and of the paintings, to the nice young lady in the breakfast room and all the receptionists, everyone makes you feel extremely welcome. We are looking forward to coming again, sometime.

We used Hotel Plaza Salerno as a base from which to visit Pompei and the Amalfi coast and we're very glad we did. The hotel is perfectly located a 2min walk from the railway station, from which trains depart frequently for Pompei. It's also very convenient for the ferry terminal from which we had planned to take a boat trip along the Amalfi coast but unfortunately all the boats were cancelled due to bad weather. (So we took a bus instead, from outside the railway station). Having day-tripped to Amalfi we were really pleased we'd stayed in Salerno, which feels like a "real" town, unlike Amalfi which felt like a tourist trap. The staff at Hotel Plaza couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, the room was great, as was the breakfast. Nearby restaurant recommendations: Mamma Rosa for great value seafood and Osteria dei Mercanti near the cathedral.

Stayed for three nights in mid-September with my mother. It is located in a perfect place, just in front of the main station. We never had sleepless nights as it was quiet even during the weekend. There is a supermarket a couple of minutes away which was very convenient. We enjoyed breakfast, especially the cappuccini served from the kitchen (instead of coffee machines). The room was spacious and the shower was okay, and the beds were made and towels replaced every day. They allowed us to leave our luggage after checkout which was great as we took an afternoon train. We traveled to other destinations such as Vietri sul Mare by train and visited the Salerno duomo by taxi (15 euros). It was our third time in the area and Salerno was a perfect place to stay. Graziie mille.

Great hotel, located right next to train station & bus stop for Amalfi coast. Breakfast was great. Staff very friendly.

Loved everything about this hotel. Comfortable, classy, helpful and friendly staff. A wonderful breakfast in a delightful breakfast room. Paintings, books and plants made it more appealing. The location was excellent - in the square opposite the railway station, which we used to travel to Pompeii and Paestum and close to the ferry for Amalfi. It's on the main shopping street of the modern town, which leads to the interesting old town. We stayed 5 nights and couldn't fault it.
