Hotel Maritan

On the first two days, we skipped the buffet breakfast at the hotel in order to visit nearby cities. From then on, we made a point of booking the varied and interesting morning meal to set us up for the day. The manager ( I presumed) was helpful and friendly at breakfast time and set the standard for his staff for the rest of our stay. The location was quiet and central with good bus communications to the train station. The place is a small hotel, modern, clean and practical with interesting artwork in the foyer/breakfast areas. We had a ground floor room backing onto the breakfast area, so there was some noise in the morning. This wasn't really a problem, as we like an early start anyway. I didn't complain, but the manager apologised without being prompted and explained that some sort of modernisation was in the pipeline that would overcome this. The sheets and towels were white and fresh.

Everything was fine.

This was my first visit to this hotel, which is not quite in the old centre of Padua but in easy walking distance to all the historical and cultural sights, and also to the railway station (20 minutes on foot, buses available too). It is at the edge of the large medical campus and university hospitals. The building is a few decades old, but the rooms have been more recently renovated and modernised, and are very comfortable. The reception staff were always friendly and available to respond to any questions and requests. There are some good restaurants likewise within a short walking distance, like the excellent La Cozzeria.

My only regret is that the hotel gym (ultimately the reason i picked this hotel) was accessible only for a few hours in the afternoon each day, basically when i was never there. There was no chance of a quick dailywork-out, as i had hoped, in the morning before leaving, or before dinner or even late evening.

The room was on the top floor with a spacious balcony with a nice view of the city. The room itself was small, but tidy and well equipped. The location was very convenient: just 10 minutes walk from the city center as well as other attractions. There's a grocery story and a couple of restaurants close by. The nearby bus stop allows to reach the railroad station easily. The breakfast was tasty: mostly pastries, yogurt, some cheese and salami, fruits. The staff was very friendly. The price is great for the good service. Overall, it's a perfect place if one doesn't plan to stay inside for long. Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is located just across the large hospital, which means loud sirens day and night. The sound isolation is superb, and with closed windows one doesn't hear a thing. But, sleeping with the open window I had to use earplugs. The room was really small: just enough place for a bed and a chair. Luckily the balcony gave enough space to stretch out & relax after a day of walking. The wardrobe was rather small too & had no separate places to sort clothes into. None of that caused me any trouble, and it's one of the best 3* hotels in Italy I've stayed into.

Nice location and very helpful staff. We needed to stay the following day to work a few hours and they let us work on the bar. They did not have late checkout, but just letting us work for a few hours from the bar was great.

Parking was not 24 hours. I mean you park at 19:00 then you have to take your car out by 13:00 the following day, but if you park at 9:00 then you have more than 24 hours because you have up to the following day at 13:00. Guess what, we arrived at 19:00. We could have paid 2 days parking. Staff informed us about where to park overnight and solve our "parking issue"

The beds were exceptionally comfortable and my allergies (which I often have problems with) did NOT bother me (that’s my “clean meter”). The pillows could be upgraded / replaced. Furnishing were dated, and there were bowls of potpourri about. There was plenty of floor space and the ceilings were like 10 feet tall. The bathroom was large, and insulated sound-wise from the rest of the room (I could use it at night without waking my husband or daughter). I don’t think the exhaust fan in the shower worked. The hairdryer on the wall was weak but the front desk had a powerful one for checkout. There was no peephole in the door. The staff were nice. Housekeeping was friendly and gave us the tools to clean our own room as we preferred (during COVID), and kept us supplied with towels etc. The woman at the front desk helped us make phone calls in Italian. The owner introduced himself. The AC worked very well. During the second week of our stay the shower wasn’t draining so we took off the cap and pulled out (what had to be) our hair; that fixed the problem. There was a lot of street noise and sirens (mainly during the day) with the hospital nearby, but the electronic sleep machine that we brought with us covered up that noise and we slept great (we recommend the “LectroFan” brand). The TV was tiny but WIFI worked well so we watched on our phones anyway. The location ended up being a bit far south for us but that depends on where you are going. Basically, it’s a 20 minute walk to city center, a 15 - 20 minute walk to University of Padova Psychology building north of the river, and an eight minutes to pharmacy or grocery. Definitely not as fancy as three star U.S. hotels in the same class, but comfortable. We were told the same family owns the Giotto hotel. I wish U.S. hotels offered standard rooms with three beds like this one. Ours had an expandable ottoman which could be used as a 4th bed!

The room was extremely clean and also pretty large. The location is also great as it is only a few minutes from the city center. The staff was polite and very professional. I personally appreciate the front desk being always open.

It didn't bother me since I sleep with earplugs, but some people could be bothered by the fact that you can easily hear people in the corridors

Very friendly staff, made us feel welcome every time we came through the door and especially during breakfast in the morning. Such a lovely place to stay.

Loved the traditional, old fashioned decor of the hotel, but furniture could be updated in the rooms (e.g. bed, bathroom).

It's great place for short stay as the base for visiting Verona and Venice. It's 20 min from train station and just 8 minutes to the Basilica by walk. The rooms were very clean, beds comfortable with good pillows. Breakfast very nice for such price and Italian standards. The personnel was very friendly and helpful in order to make our stay great. A bonus is little SPA inside hotel and nice restaurants in walking distance. We definitely recommend.

All great, maybe a kettle for tea would be a nice adding :)

I loved my staying; my room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast, included in the price, was pretty good to start the day with. I had a few showers and it is really important to me the water pressure and the heat of the water, I was satisfied with both. The staff was very professional, polite and friendly.

I would have loved to have a kettle in my room with a few tea bags and/or istant coffee.

The Hotel is absolutely recommendable. The rooms are clean and exactly like shown on the homepage. The staff is very helpful and friendly by providing recommendations for tourists. The location of the hotel is perfect for doing day trips. we will definitely be back and would highly recommend the hotel.
