Hotel de la Ville Monza - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Loved the entire hotel, the gorgeous room (huge closet, desk, comfy bed, lovely bathroom), and breakfast veranda with delicious food and great staff. I arrived to the hotel late and the wonderful front desk team allowed me to order room service even though the kitchen had just closed... made my arrival so wonderful! The decor in the hotel is like a museum - so many historic things to see... I was visiting Milan and this hotel is about 20 minutes out, but worth the train and short taxi ride to get there... an experience all in itself.

I loved everything - just a tip to bring your earpods. The hotel is a popular event site and some events may have music that wafts through the hotel. It will help to have your earpods if you can hear the music in your room.

This is indeed an Italian, classically styled luxury hotel. While checking in, we were told we were upgraded to a better room; this is always a pleasant start. The hotel building is amazing, it is definitely worth a discovery tour; every corridor and corner has something exciting. Our room was spacious, clean, and classically decorated in a tasteful way. I think the walk-in closet would suit guests travelling with their entire wardrobe. The bed, the mattress, the pillows (down/feather and also a memory one for each person), and the duvet were all of very high quality and really comfortable. Both the decoration and the comfort of the bathroom is worth mentioning. The bar serves excellent Negronis. This hotel has an identity & atmosphere like few others.

We had an amazing stay at the hotel, it was super cozy, stylish, well-maintained, and very clean. I can say only great words about the staff who acted more as closely-nit members of a family who were always happy to meet any expectation.

The only super-small thing that was disappointing to us was the tea selection at the lobby bar, where were offered the most basic Twinnings tea bag described as "special selection tea" for 6 or 7 Eur. We wouldn't mind paying 8 or 10 Eur but for a nice tea that matches the style and the class of the hotel and we can recommend at least 10 brands that can meet these high standards :-)

Good location. Easy to be reached by car and at walking distance from city center. Extremely well furnished and decorated. Mesmerising . Huge attention to details. Genuinely exclusive. Very professional and friendly staff. All of them! The room was well decorated, super clean and comfortable despite facing the main road (little to no noise). Great breakfast. Huge selection and of good quality. Very cozy dining area. We could not try the restaurant for dinner, unfortunately. Overall good experience for the price.

The shower in our room was too small and the hot water was a bit intermittent.

The hotel is beautiful and the dining experiences we had were all exceptional. Our room had everything we needed and a lovely garden view.

Someone could have offered to help us get our bags to our room, especially when they saw us having some difficulty and because the layout is confusing and depending on where your room is, it requires different elevators.

Situated short walk into town for restaurants and convenient rental car pick up. (Good jumping off point to visit Lake Como). Bike and scooter rental right outside property. Rooms well appointed, clean with extremely comfortable beds. Unfortunately we booked without breakfast option but breakfast room located in lovely covered veranda. Uniquely decorated with friendly responsive staff. Did not eat at hotel so cannot comment on Derby restaurant.

It was a really lovely surprise. We arrived early to store our luggage but we were given our rooms and an upgrade which was unexpected - thank you so much, it made our visit even more special. We loved our one night stay and look forward to returning to the hotel again. We came by car so we really appreciated the parking possibility at the hotel. The staff were lovely and so helpful - we also loved the fact that one of the owners (we recognized him from the site) was inspecting a lot and talking to his staff, that shows how much love and care goes into this family business. Everything was impeccable and spotless. The restaurant was lovely too with wonderful staff and as I was craving for cutlet a la Milanaise (with the bone), I was very happy to see it on the menu! It was delicious!

Nothing we did not like

The hotel is elegant but not pretentious. Some of the best-trained hotel staff I have met. Super courteous and professional while extremely helpful when help is needed. Special mention (Maurizio at the front desk. Sonia in the main restaurant.) Breakfast (food quality, staff attentiveness, restaurant set-up) is wonderful. Free secure parking. Hotel is old but well-maintained and charming. Room cleanliness and housekeeping is top-notch. Highly recommended.

Balcony didn't have outdoor chairs, but they were provided when we asked for them.

Small luxury hotel indeed! Outstanding for all reasons... One of the best experiences I ever had. Everything was really high class starting with reception (extremely helpful!) up to the mid XIX century room, a very nice balcony with castle view. Very good cocktails in the bar served also on the terrace. Excellent breakfast. Class ☆ Michelin restaurant only with couple of days in advance reservation.

Unfortunately we had to go for dinner at another restaurant - the good name of the hotels' restaurant makes it fully booked most of the times. One can be confident that the reception will give very good advise where to eat !

The very nice small, but high-quality hotel has an excellent location near the big green park. Our room was not big, but clean and stylish. Free parking on-site is a definite plus. Rich and various breakfasts worth the visit. It is very recommended to have dinner in the on-site restaurant "Derby Grill".

The water pressure in the shower was insufficient. The hotel seems too expensive regardless of all its advantages.
