Castello di Guarene

The hotels over all presence in this small town is one of royalty and grandeur. I felt like I had arrived at a scene out of a James Bond movie. The old world charm is definitely there, billiard room, small hidden bar, old world dining rooms, candelabra, massive fire places and the escape tunnels that take you to the swimming pool and Spa. We wanted a Castle experience, we got it.

My negative, not that its major. When you pay rates at this level I expect not to have to pay extra for my eggs to be cooked to order. Cold boiled eggs or scrambled eggs that looked like they had been in the chafing dish for some time don't cut it. Sorry, yes its minor, but if the hotel can realize that the same raw cost factor is there, the egg, add a little labor & the morning experience would be at another level.

Wonderful hilltop castle with fabulous views, lovely gardens and breakfast terrace. Very helpful and friendly staff. The pool area was a great place to relax and the private use of the wellness area was excellent.

The bed was really uncomfortably hard - like sleeping on a table-top! Surely the news of memory foam mattress toppers has reached even hilltops in Roero by now? The breakfast offered limited choice for healthy eating and at this price level it felt bad form to charge extra for an omelette.

Wow. This is one the best hotels I have stayed in. The rooms, the staff, the service, the knowledge of the area. The eagerness to make your stay one to remember. They did it all.

We ordered coffees to the room and both times they came up cold. Would be great to have coffee machines in the room. Or coffee delivered hot!

Incredible facility . Amazing rooms and facilities. To die for views. Excellent breakfasts Pool and spa exceptional . Grounds and vistas unmatched . Privacy and security first rate . Beautiful restaurant.

Absolutely no knowledge of the area . No concierge to speak of . Totally on your own . Young inexperienced ( but lovely) front desk team . We wasted 2 days in the area finding out sights , food and vineyards by ourselves . Fix this and you have a world class property right now it is only a glamorous B&B.

We had a wonderful experience at the Castello di Guarene. Every staff member we encountered, from the valet to the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable! The room was beautifully decorated, very clean, very comfortable, the Spa was amazing! I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area!

wonderful breakfast .natural scrambled eggs.cheeses.ham.fruits.wine.lovely pool.sauna and jacuzzi are bookable for two.it is very private.beautiful park.we were given a tour of the castle .beautiful story.we booked wine tours in barolo and barbaresco.excellent wines

the rooms are just gorgeous! proper old castle rooms with beautiful high ceilings, period furnishings, frescoes on the walls & modern bathrooms! and the BEST spa facility and massages by John, who has been around since we started visiting the property 6 years ago.

service staff could be better trained at the restaurant. I think the quality of the staff has gone slightly down after Covid years, unfortunately.

It’s unique, very secured, calm and staff is proactive and very courteous and kind.

For the price, it’s disappointing the wellness facilities are only accessible after 14:00 o’clock. Obviously this has all to do with economics but again, at 600 Euros a night, usually, 5+ star accommodations nowadays are providing full accessibility.

Perfect stay in dream castle on top of hill with beautiful scenery around, beautiful cadyle interiors, wonderful spaa, very attentive service, who helped us to find best places around the castle, vast choice of foods for breakfast on a beautiful terrace, couldn't imagine it better, grazie!!

The Castello itself is an amazing building and very well designed. The location is brilliant.

The quality of the food at dinner was terrible. It was the worst meal we had in the whole area over the 4 days. Please, please, please can you improve the food for dinner because it was the only thing that spoilt our memory of the trip.
