Hotel Villa Mabapa

Beautiful hotel in a nice location. Beach is close and the rooms were good. Peaceful area with a few shops close. Venice is a 10min walk and a 25min boat ride away so its easy to go there

Beds were hard and the shower was really bad as the water was either really cold or really warm.

Pet friendly. The house cat visited our balcony several times. Nice complete bathroom with rain shower and bidet. Nice balcony in the room. 10 min walking distance from the waterbus station to Venice. Free parking. Excellent coffee during breakfast. Staff was very helpful with providing information on how to get to Venice etc.

Not many power points in the room. We brought our own extension cable and that saved us. The hotel only has place for 4 cars to park. But at the road side is free of charge as well and safe. Breakfast offers cheese in cubes rather than cheese slices, which is a bit odd.

The Lido is a peaceful alternative to staying in Venice itself. Villa Mabapa is situated facing the lagoon and looking across to Venice. I had requested a room with a balcony as it was a special wedding anniversary trip and my request was fulfilled. The bedroom itself was fairly small but the balcony was a bonus as it was very large with a circular dining table and 3 chairs. There was good wardrobe space in the bedroom with a safe, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities. There was no walk in shower cubicle, the shower was over the bath which may be a problem with people who have mobility issues. The hotel itself is a beautiful building tastefully furnished in a traditional style. The breakfast room is light and airy and the choice of food is mostly continental. No cooked food apart from hard boiled or scrambled. eggs The staff at the hotel are all very helpful. On arrival Guillio checked us in and was so informative and eager to answer any questions we had. He told us that our stay included a free water taxi across to the island of Murano with a free guided tour and demonstration of glass blowing at one of the main factories. We took up this offer one morning and had a wonderful experience as there were only the two of us so it felt like a personalised tour! Afterwards you make your own way back to Lido via vaparetto. The peaceful setting makes sitting out in the garden terrace at the front of the hotel very pleasant. The outside bar opens every day at 4pm so it is nice and shady to have a pre evening drink. We didnt eat at the hotel in the evening but people we spoke to say the food was good.

More fresh prepared fruit at breakfast would have been welcome.

The hotel is beautiful and very well-maintained. We booked a family room for 4 and the room was perfect with lots of space. There was a lot of storage space in the room as well - more than enough for 4. We chose Lido island as our base to explore Venice because of the beach which was also lovely. Lido on its own is a lovely island with more breathing room in any case. The hotel location is great with a 10 minute walk to the ferry terminal as well as the Main Street which has many restaurants and shops. The hotel has its own private dock which we used occasionally when we took water taxis from Venice. The breakfast was great with a fab spread. The fresh fruit selection in particular was amazing with so many options. Lastly everyone at the hotel was really lovely, helpful and great to chat to. We are definitely returning to this hotel.

Nothing to do with the hotel but there were mosquitoes on Lido island and Venice too. So better to go with some protective sprays or buy when there.

Fell in love with this quirky, art deco style hotel - situated across from the grand canal and a 10 minute walk to the centre where you’ll find plenty restaurants to choose from. The vaparetto is also here. The beach is 10 minutes in the opposite direction. We booked into the hotel beach club but as it didn’t have a pool, we cancelled and booked into blue moon - with the soaring temperatures we needed to dip into somewhere cold. There is a fabulous garden with a little bar which looks onto the canal, many bottles of wine were sunk here as we watched the sun setting. The rooms are very dated and it can be difficult to find staff at times but don’t let that put you off - this a wee gem of a hotel. The staff are quick to respond to emails and arranged our transport for us. This is a perfect place to stay after the madness of Venice and only a quick ferry trip away. Murano and Burano are also easily reached. I’ve visited Venice a few times and I’d definitely to choose to stay on the Lido and this hotel on my next trip.

Breakfast is a disaster. The room is too small, everyone shuffles around each other and they are constantly running out of food/drinks and not replenishing quick enough. I sorted a pot of tea - no milk. Asked, waited, by the time the milk arrived, the tea is cold. Put toast on then go for scrambled egg, none left - asked twice, 10 minutes later the eggs appear but the tea and toast is cold so I need to start again - wasting food and time. The fruit is like gold dust, grab it while you can. We stayed for 4 nights and it was like this every morning.

We got a spacious room with large, private balcony and magnificent view over the Laguna into Venice. Wonderful to watch the sunset over Venice. Very pleasant and welcoming staff in the hotel, helpful, friendly and service minded. Old, historic hotel, very charming exterior and interior both in building style, materials and decorations. Fresh and nice, well ventilated and clean. Beautiful garden with bar and dining area, with large trees offering shade. Hotel Mabapa felt like an oasis, with Venice just a boat ride away, and the beach a short walk away. Possible to borrow bicycles at the hotel. Great selection in breakfast buffet, cosy and bright breakfast area.

No complaints.

Small, cozy hotel in Lido. Very close to the ferry but 10 minutes walk from Vaporetto stop. Walk could be avoided by using local bus. It's great that this part of Venice is accessible by car, that could be parked for free in hotel parking lot, although you have to calculate the price of ferry. Lido itself is a surprise- green and charming, with a beaches and well connected with S. Marco island. Much better choice than staying in busy touristic area or Mestre.

Hotel should highlight more the fact that you could actually park your car in front of it. Great option for those traveling by car.

I enjoyed this hotel a lot! Everything was clean. The location is great and located in the heart of Lido close to the beach. Terrace view is exceptional and so romantic. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and relatives, perfect for couples too!!

As a couple we have to sleep on the two mattresses on one bed which was very uncomfortable. I would recommend to the hotel management put a standard double mattress for double beds because it’s very unpleasant otherwise. Also the dinner celebration for the last day of summer as a buffet style was not good and we left because we did not enjoy the food but the breakfast was absolutely amazing through.

We loved the location, it's perfect for getting away from a very crowded Venice. Only 15min boat trip from San Marco. It's very easy to get there as it's only a 10min walk from the Lido station. When we arrived we were kindly upgraded to their best suite with a beautiful Laguna di Venezia view even though we booked the basic standard room. The staff was very helpful and kind throughout our stay. The breakfast was already included in the price and there was a variety of things to choose from, sweet and sour, very tasty. We would definitely come back when visiting Venice in the future!

We spent a fantastic week in Villa Mabapa: il carissimo direttore gave us a free upgrade to a spacious room with lagoon view, the people were friendly (Mabapa feels like a family hotel, but without the clumsiness), dinner was excellent time after time and we had a great special evening at the occasion of Redentore. During the hot summer months the Lido is an excellent place to spend time in Venice, since there is more space than in the small streets of San Marco, Dorsoduro etc; and temperatures are milder. Yet communication by ferry (bring your car!) and by vaporetto is easy and punctual, so you are wherever you want to be in no time.

I really can't think of anything; we almost forgot how a trip abroad felt after these pandemic years, this was a real treat beyond expectations.
