Villa Schiatti

The staff were wonderful. They were so helpful and friendly. The food, both breakfast and the evening meal were exceptional. Though they don't always provide it, the staff made us lunch on two occasions which was lovely. The hotel is spotless and just idyllic and historic .The views were breathtaking. The most wonderful hotel experience. I can't speak highly enough of the hotel and especially the staff. Staff even took us to the railway station so we could go to Arezzo and picked us up. Though I paid the person, they knocked it off the bill total at the end. We will come back.

You are a bit secluded so a car is advisable

This is a surprising gem of a hotel! We actually had rubbish wet weather when we stayed which was a shame as the pool area and the rooftop terrace would have been fabulous on a sunny day. Everything about this hotel delighted us. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were excellent - the best we had all holiday. Because of the downpours we opted to dine in the restaurant on two of our nights and the food was first class and terrific value. Our room was small but had a lovely view over both the pool and the surrounding countryside and there's a pretty courtyard for evening drinks. There are also nice walks along the quiet lanes around the hotel. Highly recommended.

Parking in Cortona is a nightmare and you have to drive from the villa as it's too far to walk.

Excellent selection for breakfast, for all cultural diets. I appreciated the on site coffee/cocktail bar with treats for the kids too. The light lunch options were delicious. Federica was very attentive to our questions/requests before arriving to villa, as well as during our stay.

The light lunch options were delicious, but I would recommend offerings for a child’s palate too. With that, there’s the rule that guests cannot consume their own food and drink outside of their room. Also it is advertised that transfer service available. We received assistance with a third party driver, but a 10 min ride was $50, which seems extremely unreasonable, but we didn’t have alternative options.

Chose this hotel outside Cortona for its views and pool and neither disappointed. The grounds and pool are beautifully kept, and plenty of seating/sunbeds with shade if you want it (I do!). Dinner on the terraced outdoor restaurant was also accompanied by a fab sunset over the valley. Room had character, was clean, and with quiet aircon. Breakfast was a veritable feast if you wanted it, and the variety, even for those of us wanting savoury options, was excellent. The location was only a 10-minute drive from Cortona, which had ample parking.

The last 50 metres of the access road to the property is not for the fainthearted - narrow with a steep drop on one side (and I'm used to driving narrow Italian roads), but don't let this put you off- just take it slowly!

Beautiful historical building over looking an idyllic country side. The room was spacious and cool. The staff went above and beyond to help us! From offering site seeing recommendations to locating a lost bag and arranging delivery to our next hotel, they were extremely supportive. The pool was a favourite of my daughters and the suntanning was a dream. The breakfast spread was expansive and generous with more than enough options to please everyone.?

The building is authentic and historic but the decor and furniture in the room was not aesthetically complimentary. They were cheeses Tuscan photo prints from china in the wall.

This is absolutely amazing place and I honestly recommend it to anyone! The villa is very beautiful outside and inside, it is decorated with love. The staff is very friendly and they make you feel like home. Rooms are very cosy (ours was nr 15) and comfortable. Breakfast was something absolutely delicious. Be careful - weight gain is guaranteed. The views are stunning. Parking is big so it is great if you travel by car. The location is also convenient - you can travel every day to many beautiful cities in the area like Siena, San Gimignano, Montepulciano, Assisi, Perugia .... even Rome :) We will definitely come back!

Everything! it looked exactly as it did in the photos - though the rooms didn’t feel as ‘old’ as they did in the pics - much more fresh in real life. from the moment we arrived the staff were so welcoming. we arrived before checkin but were able to use the pool and ordered a delicious array of salads, cold meat and breads etc for lunch while we were waiting. great options for set menu dinners (they adapted for children but would have been great to have a more general child friendly menu option as well - pasta/pizza). buffet breakfast was also amazing - such an array and variety of great food. pool was perfect temperature and very much enjoyed by all as it was hot summer weather and we rotated from lounger to pool to lounger again. Nothing was too much to ask for the staff - they happily accommodated any requests and always had a smile on their faces. Absolutely stunning location and grounds/buildings.

The hotel is an old building with an amazing courtyard. Very beautifully decorated and well located near Cortona. Staff were amazing and went beyond their duty to accommodate guests. Breakfast was a feast with the best quality local products and large range of choices from cheese, ham, eggs, cakes, fresh juices, cereales, breads!

The room was very dark due to the small window so we had to put the light on during the day. Bathroom a bit old with small shower

We stayed for three nights in this beautiful building. The staff were fantastic throughout our visit and made us feel so welcome. The food in the restaurant was beyond belief and Alain was a tremendous host giving great recommendations on both food and wine. The rooms very nicely decorated and very comfotable.We enjoyed relaxing in the outside terrace and courtyard and the firepits in the evening were a lovely touch. Will definitely be back.

Couldn't fault anything

Beautiful location with a spectacular view from the terrace and the pool area. We had a big apartment with good beds and a good aircondition in the two bedrooms. The staff is very professional and very friendly. Very nice breakfast buffet with everything you need. The restaurant is very nice as well and offers traditional italian cuisine and a great view. With our rental car we could visit the top sights such as Siena, San Gimigano, Pienza and Montepulciano and afterwards we relaxed the late afternoon at the nice and big pool. Enough big parking spots available. A very nice hiking trail starts right above the villa, which is surrounded by beautiful old olive trees. We had a wonderful stay, we will definitely come back. Villa Schiatti is a strong recommendation!
