The Westenra hotel is in the town centre & a great base to explore the neighbouring towns. On arrival the staff at reception were very friendly & helpful. Our room was very clean, comfortable & spacious. Tea, coffee & biscuits were provided, which was lovely just to settle in & rest before exploring the town. The meal in the evening was delicious with a good varied menu & the breakfast the next morning, again delicious, set us up for the day. Checking out at 12 .was a nice bonus so no early morning rush.

As we were only staying one night we had everything we needed so couldn,t fault the hotel.

This was an amazing hotel! Perfect location for our needs, right in town and next door to a fantastic pub "The Squealing Pig" where our event was taking place and not far from our family gathering in Rockcorry. (BTW the Squealing Pig was very accomodating to our very Vegan daughter and her infant son); The staff at the hotel was pleasant and accomodating. The breakfast was fantastic with a full menu of options The town has a nice mall and shopping options; we had our laundry done down the street and back the same day if you get it there early. The Monaghan Museum was fantastic (they are moving to a new location down the street. The restaurants were great and we especially were impressed with 'Eastern Balti House' with the best service and great food!

All of my family members really enjoyed staying there. We had 3 rooms and all were wonderful. I think one room the windows could not open easily.

Food in the restaurant was excellent and staff were incredible. It made me feel tired watching the young staff rushing around carrying out their duties in a friendly and efficient manner. Worth a visit just to see this, so unusual nowadays with the lazy snowflakes in most establishments. Hotel generally a little tired in places but overall it was fine.

Over bath shower arrangement in our room,#305, was downright dangerous. The anti slip coating on the bath was worn away and there was no grab handle at stand up height. With soft water and soap, it was very slippery. (Hotel advised of the problem)

Our second stay here at this gorgeous hotel! Right in the heart of Monaghan Town. Best food and hospitality for families in Monaghan. Friendly staff and a nice bar serving delicious cocktails. The Diamond Suite has a fab view of the town.

Toilet paper! Needs to be better quality (thicker) . Bathrooms could do with a revamp but still fit for purpose. Would not put me off staying here again.

I love the decor in the main entrance and the room, the receptionist and door man were very friendly and welcoming upon arrival. The location is brilliant as well, it’s a stone throw away from everything you need.

The bedroom curtains didn’t close fully so it let in a lot of light from the streets. The people going to and leaving the nightclub at the rear of the property made a lot of noise it sounded like we were ground floor. I was tired enough to sleep through it though.

Room, initial room was rather small so asked for upgrade and was given the Diamond Suite. Very good. Ding room staff, all excellent friendly and helpful, food great especially breakfast.

wonderful coffee machine in the room which does NOT make tea, could an alternative kettle be available. We were there at for a couple of very hot days/nights. a fan would have been great. Both very small points

The room was spacious and beautifully clean. It also had been sealed after cleaning ,so we knew that no one had been able to get in to our room, which was a great comfort during the present Covid conditions. We dined twice in their restaurant because ,not only was the food delicious and beautifully presented ,but also the staff were so friendly and attentive. I really liked the room where we had breakfast ,which was light and bright because the roof is glass. Breakfast was generous and varied and the waitress was again chatty and attentive. The hotel is right in the heart of Monaghan so it’s in an ideal location and as there are only about twenty rooms ,you don’t feel that you’ve got lost in the crowd.

There wasn’t anything that I didn’t like or found disappointing

The lobby has a bar with a beautiful lounge area. The staff were pleasant and attentive. The restaurant was fantastic as well. The rooms are well appointed. I was traveling with an 'Americanised' relative that can be rather demanding and the staff were patient with her. Also the hotel has plenty of parking.

The only issue was the pillows were well worn out, and were more like flat sand bags. I was too tired to bother the staff to change them out which I know they would have done without an issue. First world problems really.

staff were all very nice and helpful ,breakfast was wonderful,meals in the bar very good, great location

the noise at night was very bad , woke up several times with all the young debs going home ,also people and taxis picking up staff , room was very hot had to open window but then the noise was dreadful as we were right at front ,other than this it was a lovely stay maybe next time check if the debs partys are on

Our room was beautiful, very spacious and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the bar as the restaurant was closed. It was very good.

I didn't like the mattress protector with the rubber backing. I woke during the night and had to get up and remove it as those protectors make me overheat completely. It might be an idea to do a bit of research and find a better quality product. Apart from that we were more than happy with our experience.
