Quite historic in style, with a lot of oak furniture, historic art, dark corridors. Nice terrace with water fountains. Generous, bright breakfast room. Good in-house dining options (gastropub or fine dining). Good internet. Hotel-owned parking space in front of the house.

Room small, just holding the bed + 1 chair, bathroom VERY small: We are relatively small and slim and "just so" managed to squeeze ourselves into the shower cabin. Bed not very large for 2, and too soft to my taste. Window small, and only opens partially.

We love the style of the hotel this was our 2nd time staying at the hotel and loved it, the staff are a credit too the establishment from checking in to the waitress and waiter that served us for dinner was exceptional 👌

As it was new years we decided too go with a bit of an upgrade rather than a standard double room so I booked one of the four poster bed rooms, but was slightly disappointed although it was a four poster bed as stated, for the price was nothing different too a standard room, I understand the quirkiness and style of the hotel might limit the size of the rooms, I probably wouldn't upgrade again but overall couldn't fault the staff or cleanliness of the hotel.

I've stayed in Drogheda many times but this was my first at the Scholars and its a big step above anywhere else I've been. Not cheap, but a beautiful hotel in an excellent location with easy access to the town center. The restaurant was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The bedroom was well fitted out with excellent quality linen etc.

There was no aircon in my room and I stayed during a bit of a heatwave which was unlucky - probably wouldn't have noticed at another time!

It is set in the heart of Drogheda steeped in history. The hotel is 150 yo and you feel like you're in an Agatha Christie novel( without the murder bit) . It's extraordinarily clean, with no smells. Fab shower and lovely and warm room. Anna on reception, couldn't be more helpful ( give that girl a crown) . In fact all staff were courteous and lovely, well done Scholars! We didn't eat there but had a peep at the dining room which looked beautiful.

The room we stayed in was small, but we were there one night only and so it was perfect for us Any imperfection I saw was literally a small chip in the toilet seat, a slightly screaming cold water tap and a wobbly lamp ( which we fixed) . But these can be easily overlooked and I saw them as part of the charm ( especially the tap,I laughed every time I turned it on)

Adorable hotel rich with history. Former Christian Brothers monastery, so rooms are on the smaller side as one would expect for monks/students focused on monastic life. Charming entrance with flowers and fountains, interiors with paintings depicting history of the area (Boyne valley conflicts, etc.). Staff very friendly and attentive. Bartender very committed to his craft, introducing us to the Pornstar Martini (a definite reorder). Delicious meal in the gastropub.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was perfect. The food is excellent!! Gorgeous bar. Oh, and that had elevators!

There were no tables or desks where you could sit and put your makeup on. No drawers of any kind. The “closets” were long cabinets that were only about 10 inches deep. You could only hang 5 or 6 things. No kettles in the room to have tea whenever you like, although they would bring tea whenever you called down for it.

This is such a quaint place to stay albeit the bedrooms are small the rest of the hotel is very special. Every member of staff we encountered were so pleasant and friendly and very accommodating to our needs. The hotel was very festive and welcoming and I wouldn't hesitate recommending to stay here...in fact it was my own brother's recommendation that made me book it this time!

As I've said the rooms are small so don't over pack! The beds are very comfortable and cosy. Carparking can be a little tight but there is an overflow just a few yard's away.

The staff basically made this stay. Very friendly, courteous, and efficient throughout.

Unbelievably, the bed was TOO big - for the room. Could have been smaller, but still a good size. Very little room around it. Why they need 'outside hospitality facilities' taking up already limited car park space is beyond me. Who wants to spend leisure time in a car park?? The very kind receptionist actually gave me her own space at check in - in a monsoon, so i had a spot. So thank you again for that!

Fantastic rooms, tremendous furnishings and decor, superb bar. Restaurant ceilings are magnificent. Dining is a joy, and breakfast is plentiful. Staff are welcoming and attentive. History absolutely oozes from every space. Loved it! Enjoyed the same hospitality nearly nine years ago...and we won't wait that long to return.

The fact we had to leave so soon. Parking on site is first-come/first-served so arrive before evening (although street parking is available nearby).

I stayed here by myself in 2014, loved the experience then, and wanted to bring my husband there for our honeymoon. Everything was wonderful, from the service to dinner and breakfast (you HAVE to try the in-house restaurant!!!!) to the room itself. Keep in mind, this is an historical building so the rooms are going to be on the smaller side and not your cookie-cutter build. But it has such delightful historical and classic charm that you'll absolutely love it!

Parking is a bit tight if you are bringing your own car. Other than that, nothing stands out.
