Location is very central and very well connected to all the important spots. The room itself was fabulous, very spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The breakgfast was also very good. No complaints with my selection

the location of my room on the ground floor meant i have had issues with the internet as i kept getting disconnected often but i noticed that this was not an issue on the higher floors when i went for the breakfast. Maybe insisting for a higher floor room if you need the internet to work would be a safer choice

I absolutely loved this hotel and will certainly stay again. The team are all so welcoming and friendly, the breakfast was good, the rooms clean, bed comfy, the shower was hot and powerful, the water machine cool, and I chose to stay in for dinner one evening too and had a delicious biriyani. The hotel is in a peaceful spot without any noisy and fumey roads right outside which is a huge benefit in this city! I took Uber taxis (of which there were many and all with good driving - at least by Indian standards!) to the key sights which were all within 20mins or so (usually less than 200INR (~2.50 USD/EUR at time of writing).

The locations of this property and Colonel’s Retreat 2 (the other sister property) are not 100% clear on booking, google, Apple Maps or Uber. They get mixed up, and I almost didn’t book for tat reason. Note that at time of writing the correct location for this property shows as “Colonel’s Retreat 2” on google and Uber maps. The address is correct, but hard to find on google, although quite clear in real life!!

We loved this property! Friendly staff and a very helpful security guard. The breakfast was lovely and we’d recommend eating dinner. Home cooked food; a good variety of choices and a generous supply of breads for the set price. The water was hot and the shower pressure strong; essentials for travelling. Thick towels too! We were grateful of the fan heater since temperatures dropped lower than we had anticipated. The hotel stored our luggage for our return since we re visited twice. We loved the banana bread and complimentary hot drink on arrival after a long journey! The small dining room was a hive of traveller chatter during our stay. The property is easily accessed from the airport and we visited the main attractions within a short Uber ride.

Very comfortable hotel in a great location. Out of centre in a nice part of Delhi. Cash points and mini markets very nearby, street markets and a metro station a reasonable walk away. The staff were very friendly, I appreciated the smile from the security guard each time I passed and his help with a couple of things. I was in an annexe just a few doors down the street and it was modern and very comfortable. As well as my room there was a very comfortable shared lounge on the same floor (see photos) I enjoyed the food in the restaurant, the menu is quite limited but perfect for what I wanted.

The taxi to the airport that was arranged for me seemed a little expensive, you might be better arranging your own or at least checking prices. A couple I was chatting to who had a room in the main building had one of their wall sockets blow and the circuit for that part of the room tripped. The staff seemed helpful about it but I had to leave before I found out how that was dealt with. The couple seemed relaxed about it.

The staff are attentive in all roles. We loved the homemade breakfasts and dinners. We are repeat guests and would return again. We were grateful for the complimentary luggage storage while we spent a few days in Varanassi. The lounge areas on each floor promote conversations with other guests. The fan heaters and blankets were essential. The banana bread is delicious and it’s a nice touch to serve complimentary tea and bread late afternoon. Thank you!

Even better if: WiFi was stronger. It is weak and intermittent which hinders the arrangement of guides and forward travel Yoghurt at breakfast would be a bonus!

Colonel's Retreat is an oasis of peace and an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's central enough to travel comfortably to any area of New Delhi easily and at the same time quiet and relaxing. The area is perfectly walkable (even though tuk-tuk drivers claim otherwise) and not far from the Lajpat Nagar metro station. The staff is incredibly helpful with anything a guest may need such as last-minute printing or obtaining a local sim card. The food is really tasty both at brekafast and dinner. I will definietly return there when in Delhi next time!

The staff was extremely kind and helpful from the moment we booked our stay. They made everything possible to meet our needs - which included a very early check-in. The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood and you can find good places to eat on walking distance. They helped us find taxis whenever we needed, recommended a very good restaurant nearby, were extremely kind at all times. The rooms are an OK size - not big, but not small, nicely decorated. Shower was nice.

Because we visited Delhi in January, the weather was cold. The structure of the building - floor perhaps - makes it a bit too cold, even in the interior (they had a small heater in each room, though). Perhaps because of the reviews I read before travelling, I expected the breakfast to be much better. There was no choice of fruits - only bananas - and despite their famous banana bread being always available, their bread choices was limited, and there was nothing else like yogurt, cheese....you can order omelet and one Indian breakfast option as well.

We loved the quiet location in a small tree-lined street. The breakfast on the roof terrace was excellent and so were the sundowners. We walked a lot in the local area, visiting markets, but also tried different low-priced modes of transport that are easy to find, in order to get to the many sightseeing spots in town. Staff was extremely supportive and friendly - many thanks to all of them!

It is a converted house so our room was a little on the small side, but the huge bathroom made up for it, as did the balcony and the large hall outside of our room with sitting and dining area (when the weather prevented sitting on the roof terrace). Facilities in the room (aircon, telly, etc) were fine, but we would have wished for slightly more comfortable mattresses.

Pramod at the front gate was extremely welcoming and immediately put me at ease. It set the tone for a wonderfully welcoming and relaxing stay. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, exceeding expectations on every front. The food was some of the best home-cooked, authentic food that I tried in Delhi and breakfast on the roof was superb. I also appreciated that they had a steady and easily accessible supply of safe, drinking water. I would definitely stay again on a return trip to Delhi.

Located in a secluded estate in south Delhi with only a couple of access points. There is a metro station within walking distance, but not many places to eat. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace (or the communal rooms on each floor if weather does not permit). Dinner can also be requested. Staff at reception were helpful. For example, my Indian sim card had to be renewed but the online app would only accept Indian payment cards. It was no problem for the staff member to make the payment on my behalf.

A few of the staff had limited English and reception staff were not always available.
