Hotel Golden Lake Resort

There is much to like at this hotel, but the welcome from the staff has to top the bill. They are all lovely, and very thoughtful. The facilities are great. Good size indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna, and spa. Breakfast and dinner were good. The hotel is situated in the centre of Balatonfured near the harbour - easy walks to places of interest. This is our top choice of three hotels we have stayed in Balatonfured. Next visit, it is where we would choose to stay. Thank you to all of those working hard to keep the hotel guests happy.

All was great

Everything was fantastic: the room, location, wonderful view over the lake, great breakfast, fabulous wellness centre......Absolutely the best location in Balatonfured and the best facilities.

The bed was not so comfortable, it was a bit hard and had a rubber or plastic protection for the mattress, which was warm and not comfortable. We requested late check-out and were told that we could keep the room until 16:00. We found out that we had to pay extra for this when we checked only. We were not informed at the time of the request, which would have been better.

It offers everything you’d expect from a 4 star hotel. Our room overlooked the marina and had a large terrace which unfortunately could not be enjoyed because of the weather. Also be warned that in the low season there are only 2-3 dining choices available in town with last orders at 19:30.

The rooms, breakfast, lobby were all fine. The spa pools and outdoor sauna were all fine as well but the indoor sauna was tepid. It would be a good idea to request it be turned on well before you intend to use it

Super location. Spacious, very clean room. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff. Underground, well-guarded parking garage. Nice facilities (indoor-outdoor pool, beach bar). A lot of space in the wardrobe would make the accommodation relevant also for longer stays.

The central ventillation in the room is very loud and could not be switched off which was quite disturbing by night. The shower was small and uncomfortable, the water was not really hot. Mowing lawn at 7.30 am in front of our window was not really customer friendly.

Hotel with excellent location and high quality services. The food at breakfast and dinner was delicious and plentiful. Friendly staff at the reception, but also in the dining room and wellness and bar.

Services slightly overpriced, automatically charged tips (service fee) is not common and the customer should be able to decide whether to give tips or not, because I would not always give it. Some guests did not respect the rules of wellness and were noisy and harassed other guests, for example by playing with a ball, they mistaken wellness with an aqua park. Unfortunately, the staff did not intervene. Maybe they just didn't want to catch up with really annoying guests. There was a lot of foreign hair in the room in the bed, and even on the floor, even after repeated cleaning. There were also foreign hair in the towels, which were subsequently changed. The robe was washed but soiled. Nevertheless, it was offered to guests.

This was our fifth time at this hotel and the level of service, cleanliness, food quality has remained high over the years. The breakfast and dinner buffet is delicious. The staff are kind, helpful and knowledgeable.

The only problem is that you can’t decide whether to rest on the comfortable bed in the room or the lovely cabanas by the pool, or shop at the designer shops a few steps from the hotel. What should a woman chose?

Super-central location, at middle of the promenade with bars and shops, yet most rooms offer some shelter from the noise. Cosy pool area with a cocktail bar and also kid’s pool. Welcome glasses of champagne were nice upon arrival.

Parking into the garage upon arrival was confusing and reception staff weren’t taking our request nicely to help with this. The signage for the garage was not obvious either.

Centrally located hotel directly at the promenade. In the autumn it was very quiet. The room was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner, they even provided us with gluten free options, no-lactose milk, so we were happy despite food allergies.

When providing gluten free food, cakes, they should not be mixed with regular ones.

Unable to find hotel due to trees blocking the hotel and signage. Tried to call for assistance but was on hold for 20 minutes and never got to speak to anyone. Worst wifi, constantly out. Bathroom floor and bathroom counter had hair, it was gross.

The breakfast and the dinner was a very good quality. Sortiment of meals at the dinner was completely changed every day, so it was various. One of the waiters was very funny an extremely helpful. Room was clean with nice view to the port. At the time our stay, there were a Wine Fest at the moment with a lot of people making the city alive.

The only unpleasant thing was that the previous guests were smoking in the room, but the reception immediately changed the room for us, even to a better one.
