The location was excellent - very close to the hustle and bustle but set slightly back so it’s quiet. I also felt safe as a solo female traveller walking back to the hotel at night. The staff were very helpful in helping me figure out the public bus system and giving directions.

Many people have mentioned the breakfast and I definitely agree, it’s not great, I didn’t stay long so I just ate it, and I also usually only have muesli and Greek yoghurt which wasn’t bad it just wasn’t as good as many other breakfasts I have had at hotels in Greece. Also just a quick note that the hotel is right next to a church which rings it’s bells every half hour and on the hour between 7.30am and 11pm - it didn’t bother me as I’m awake then anyway/wondering around, and if you are in a room not facing it you probably can’t really hear it, but just to keep in mind to bring some ear plugs if that might bother you.

In a city as colorful, authentic and unpolished as Heraklion, this hotel, situated on a picturesque Agias Ekaterinis Square, may be the best choice in terms of location. You will have the view on three of the city‘s top landmarks - a cathedral and two smaller churches, one of which now houses a museum. Beyond that, this central location offers the best selection of cafes and restaurants, a quick access to all major sites, and an opportunity to observe local life while still being in tranquil environment. Just to note, we had a superior room with balcony and city view. It was on the 4th floor, which allowed us to enjoy the view in full. The room itself was however rather smallish, with bathroom being outright tiny, but still convenient enough for a short stay. Staff is friendly and attentive. The cafe Hacienda downstairs cooks decent food and the order may be brought upstairs to the balcony.

From what can be improved; while the already mentioned cafe Hacienda is capable of good cooking, the breakfast selection for hotel guests - served at this cafe - is rather limited. For the better options one has to order and pay extra (but the prices are very reasonable).

Lovely central hotel with well appointed and comfortable rooms. Our economy room was an inner one which didn’t benefit from a view (privacy film on the window glass etc.) but this was okay as the room felt light and airy and was very quiet. Check in / check out was swift and staff are friendly and speak great English (especially the woman on reception). 2nd time here for us and we would recommend. Locationally, the hotel is near a number of authentic ‘local frequented’ restaurant in the alleys near to it (on the route to lion square) - these places had a really great vibe / super food and good value / not too many tourists. We spent an evening in a meze bar it’s the locals and it was super.

Breakfast is pretty poor - very cramped self service area which gets busy and when we visited, there wasn’t much food to choose from (many empty dishes) and there wasn’t even plates to use. Coffee was in drinkable and when we asked for tea, it took a long time to arrive. Staff don’t keep an eye on what needs replenished. We decided to head out for breakfast somewhere else on our 2nd morning. I don’t know if the breakfast place is owned / run by the hotel or by someone else who rents the coffee shop next door, but it really doesn’t work for paying guests of the hotel.

The interior decor is very modern and has that boutique hotel feel. Located next to St Minas Cathedral, there is a nice buzz from the adjacent alfresco dining area and the cathedral square, which serves as a play area for the local children in the evening. The hotel is in a great location for accessing the city centre and the main shopping district. All the staff I dealt with were friendly and spoke good English. The breakfast buffet is served in the sister restaurant, which is accessed through a link door from the lobby. I found the selection catered to most tastes, offering a range of hot and cold food, juices and on-tap filter coffee.

There were only two minor niggles: - the bells of St Minas sound throughout the day, which can be a bit intrusive in the early morning and late at night. - the walk in shower area in my room was prone to flood the adjacent bathroom floor

The hotel has perfect location in the heart of Heraklion, definitely good choice if you want to see the city and be close to the historical center. The staff is very friendly and helpful: every time I needed something, staff provided professional support, starting from early check-in and ending with printing my boarding pass. The rooms a big enough and well equipped. The bathroom is just great.

The breakfasts are of the same type everyday and the choice is quite poor, however, you can enjoy local food during the breakfast and delicious Greek coffee.

The location of the hotel is a perfect starting point for walking around the city centre and exploring Iraklion's main landmarks. We particularly enjoyed the direct view on the quiet, fascinating old square and the breakfast served in a very relaxing atmosphere at the nearby cafe. The room is very modern, spacious, clean and comfortable, with soft beds and excellent bathroom.

Overall, the hotel's modern outlook feels a bit anonymous. Parking-wise the area can be a nightmare... you will need to rely on some paid parking lots and garages in the surrounding streets and will have to budget the related additional costs.

Beautiful, new, boutique hotel in the perfect location near to where all the action is in Heraklion. Your view of the most beautiful cathedral is breathtaking. The hotel is well stocked with top notch clean towels and products, and the staff was so nice and helpful. Arranged all our transportation. We wanted for nothing with their help. Next to a bus stop that takes you straight to the airport if you’re not renting a car. If you have a car, parking is 5mins away. Super location. Super hotel!!!

Being a new hotel, there are a few bits they need to take care of. There were a few kinks with the construction- the balcony door had a loose screw, the shower head was spurting everywhere, had to hit the toilet wall to flush sometimes, and had to lift the door to the bathroom to close as it was touching the uneven tile. But these were VERY VERY MINOR nits that can all be fixed. They lost half a star for this. BUT DO NOT let that deter you from booking with this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

We LOVED our stay at the Metropole! The location was perfect. We were a short walk away from the bustling city centre, but far enough away from the party so that we slept great, with no noise. The hotel is located next to a beautiful church and there are a few restaurants on the square. It's also steps away from the bus that takes you to the airport. You'll definitely want to be up for breakfast - it was outstanding. The menu featured eggs, sausage, bacon, pastries, olives, roasted red peppers, yogurt, and more. They also offered complimentary Greek coffee. The staff are friendly and the facilities, very clean. I would gladly stay at the Metropole again and give it my highest recommendation.

Washcloths in the bathroom would have been great.

Everything was perfect. Good location, nice staff, beautiful interior, very clean. There is church nearby, but it doesn’t disturb at all (especially with closed windows). I think I slept even better than at home. Bed was very comfortable. If someday I will return to Heraklion then I will definitely stay in this hotel.

TV didn’t support YouTube, Netflix or browser. It would be nice to have two sockets at the table instead of one (to plug in laptop charger and desk lamp).

Great location, very clean. Comfortable bed. Lovely bathroom. All facilities you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed one night after arriving in Crete. Just 10 mins from the airport. Checking was quick and easy. Staff very helpful and gave good directions to get a meal even though it was late at night (9.30pm).

Noisy. Not enough soundproofing so could hear other guests and staff clattering around late at night and early in the morning. Other than that it was spot on.
