Hotel Hirschen in Freiburg-Lehen

The hotel is much bigger than I anticipated and therefore very well organised. The rooms are generous, light and clean - the air condition was very welcome as it was extremely hot! We enjoyed the lovely shaded garden and pool a lot. The restaurant was closed on the night we were there and the receptionist was extremely helpful in finding and booking us a table somewhere else for dinner. You should be aware that the hotel is slightly outside Freiburg. The centre is easily reached by tram (20min) or within 10 minutes by car.

What is slightly odd is that the hotel is surrounded by residential apartment blocks at the back and the garden and the pool are therefore very much overlooked by all the neighbours.

The hotel from the outside is very nice. Private parking lot for a decent cost. The staff was quite OK and very friendly. The room was perfect, slightly on the small side but OK. Very quiet. Nice bathroom, for once with a real wooden door. Breakfast in a nice terrace and good. Restaurant with a dinner menu not really varied but good food, even though very expensive. But definitely comfortable. Breakfast OK, but expensive.

A bit on the expensive side for what it really is. The location is obviously not convenient for downtown Freiburg (you need a car, or you must catch a tramway not exactly close by), but this you know before going there.

Location, easy public transport link to Freiburg. Private garden and pool much appreciated. Staff very helpful and thoroughly prepared for our arrival: lovely room and air conditioning wonderful in that heat! Terrific high quality breakfast buffet, really huge choice of first class ingredients.

The sole downside of our stay was the evening menu, not only in the conservative menu choice and ambition, but also in the dining ambience. Relatively high prices for a modest dining experience, perhaps?

Simple, clean and functional room. Free underground parking. Working Wi-Fi, superb food at dinner time I’m the restaurant. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. Good variety at the breakfast.

Wanted to use the sauna in the morning- on the previous evening the receptionist promised to switch it on to have it ready for 7:45. (we wanted to depart soon after breakfast) when I went in the morning, at the specified time it was not switched on - it would have been less annoying if they just said they do not have it working in the morning… a broken promise is always more disappointing than the simple lack of something…

This hotel was very understanding regarding my car which expired in their underground car park. Not only did they put up with it, but kept my dinner warm while I dealt with the ADAC man, and when the car was collected, the receptionist deployed all her language skills to help me communicate with the driver.

Could have more pillows in the single rooms.

This was our second stay here, and we will be happy to return for a third visit. The room is spacious, the bed comfortable, the swimming pool gorgeous and the location excellent. Free parking, unless you want to secure a spot (10 euros). We didn’t have the breakfast, but it looked great

The evening before our departure, a client of the hotel's restaurant parked in our parking space. Instead of asking him to move his car the hotel staff moved us to another space which was too narrow and too low for our car. We couldn't even open the trunk in order to load our luggage.

We had to take this hotel as it was just one of the few options late at night in the area. But it waz great. Private free parking, the room is spacious and beautiful, bathroom was great. There was a terrace on the first floor.

We were here just for a short night stay. Breakfast seemed too expensive. Yes, the variety was huge, but if is still a limited amount of food that you can consume😉 we did not take breakfast.

Have the pool and air conditioning made a trip to Freiburg in August very comfortable. The breakfast was fabulous (except bacon was too wobbly.)

We would have enjoyed cocktails at the pool, but never saw staff come by. A few people went and got some at the restaurant- but a buzzer system or even a proper bar would be better and sell more drinks/pool side snacks.

We stayed here one our way home from Rome to home (in the Netherlands). It’s only 5 min from the A5 which makes it a perfect stopover. Hotel is very nice, clean and with nice staf. We didn’t have breakfast but did have dinner in the hotels restaurant which was very good.

There was no possible to make coffee or tea in your room. This would be nice to have
