Hotel AMANO Grand Central

The location of the hotel was amazing - just a stone throw away from Hauptbahnhof station so easy to get around. The room and main reception area were also very modern.

Breakfast could have been better - as for hot breakfast options there was only scrambled egg, sausage & boiled egg. Avoid trying to check in early via the link sent to you as this promises you no waiting time at check in but that is not the case - I checked in using this app and still had to queue for over 15 minutes at reception (around 4pm) to get the room key. Also, on this link you are asked to pay for your stay (full amount) then at the check in desk they ask you to "authorise" payment and are charged AGAIN the full amount, which is then refunded at the end of your stay - a large sum of money to have withdrawn from your bank for a few days!

Location was fantastic! A+. Very convenient and a couple of minutes to the Main Train station, where one can go anywhere in Europe from there. Lots of shops, food, and a great Tea shop ( for those of us who don't care about coffee😉)

Room was too small for 3 people. Not space for suitcases/carry-ons. Parking was clean, large, in location but a bit pricey.

Location is great, rooms are clean, beds are very comfy. There are no cringe paintings on the walls or questionable interior decisions - rooms are neat and minimalistic.

SELF CHECK-IN process is unacceptable! Imagine you being tired from a long trip and all you want is to go to your room ASAP. You don't want to wait, you don't want any small talks, so you should be very happy that the hotel has self check-in system, there you can avoid waiting time and interacting with other people. Well, I've tried kiosks two times (in August 2023 and in June 2023) and it doesn't work. Terminal just keep saying that your room is not ready. If you go to the receptionist, then everything works at their desk. Whoever build this system must be ashamed.

The location was superb for traveling without a car - the main station has tons of connections both local and long-distance, and there are tons of e-scooters (Lime, etc) outside the Hotel on the sidewalk. Overall the Hotel feels really high-end for the price that we paid, we loved the style of the rooms. And the soaps were great!

I think the style of the hotel attracted a lot of "business-bro" types of guests, which might not be the vibe for everyone. But to be fair nobody bothered us, and except for some noise on Saturday night, which is a night when the Hotel bars are busy and there are events, there weren't issues.

Loved the room, it was very modern and stylish. It was very clean and comfortable. Great shower, good air con and Wi-Fi. The lights were all controlled by a little panel beside the bed. Had a fridge and drinks and snacks for purchase. No noise issues. Has a rooftop bar and associated restaurants downstairs. We didn’t have many interactions with the staff but the ones we did have were pleasant. Location wise, the hotel is about a 4 minute walk from the central station which is convenient. It is however a minimum 30 minute plus walk to most attractions/sights/ city centre.

One of the days the towels they gave us were more like rags- Super thin and had a hole. Also would have loved an extra pillow in the room.

I liked the stylish appearance of the room and the overall aesthetic of the hotel. It was a great value for the price. The check-in process was also smooth and efficient, especially if you choose to do it online. Overall, I had a positive experience at this hotel.

During my stay at the hotel, I was disappointed with the quality of the bed. It was made up of two mattresses that were not properly secured to the bed frame, resulting in them constantly shifting throughout the night. In the morning, there always was a large gap between the two mattresses where they had become separated. Additionally, I had reached out to the hotel via email and booking.com prior to my stay to inquire about Covid-19 restrictions and received no response.

Overall the staff were more than helpful and friendly and seemed to be concerned about our problems.

The main issue was I paid 18 euro each for breakfast . An absolute disaster for the price. Even to the extent No cornflakes !! The only things that were semi ? hot ! Were cardboard scrambled eggs and dodgy sausage. So we had our first breakfast went straight to reception to cancel the other 2 booked and asked for a refund for those 2 Was told they could not ,would have to contact Booking .com for the refund. Really?? As a compromise was offered breakfast 50 yards up the road at their sister hotel The Romy. Breakfast marvelous ( made to order omelettes great presentation and choice.)

It’s super near to the Berlin hbf. I booked a night here to catch an early morning train ride to another town. I think it’s pricey but my priorities were safety, cleanliness and proximity which this hotel offered. I came in really late from my flight and my check-in was thankfully smooth. The front staff were really nice when I asked them to repeat some instructions as I was really tired and sleepy after my flight 😂

The shower facilities were a bit odd. The door was transparent so if you were sharing the room with another person, they’d be able to see you shower from the bedroom area. There was no bottled water, only wine.

Checking in and out was very easy, facilities were very well kept and the staff were very nice. Great location, and being by the Hauptbahnhof, you still have access to groceries on Sunday and a pharmacy that is open 24/7! Hauptbahnhof Rewe is one of the few supermarkets in the city that is open on a Sunday - in general, Germany shuts down on the last day of the week!

Nothing to complain about - we only stayed one night. Having lived in Berlin, there are more convenient locations to be if you want to go to places and Kreuzberg and further south, but that wasn't an important factor for us. Very nice stay overall and would do it again! The hotel entrance is actually down the side street - the Amano entrance on the main road is actually to the bar, but the bar staff were very nice and directed us to the hotel entrance.

Very close proximity to the Grand Central station, which was good for the arrival/departure. Rooms were spacious, clean and modern. The bar on level 6 was great and the staff at the bar were fantastic.

The bathroom was very small and the shower was very high making it a difficult space to manoeuvre in. Half the power sockets in the hotel didn’t work and the tap felt flimsy. The pull out sofa bed wasn’t the most comfortable and was very noisy. The pillows were terrible.
