The Senator Hotel & Conference Center Timmins

Senator is a very fine hotel that is starting to show age, but still a good place to stay. Overall good facility and good service. It would be an excellent choice for someone travelling on business, or if looking for a solid quiet room in the city. Breakfast choices and service were excellent. Having underground parking is nice, and would be important in Timmins in the winter.

The downtown location may not be preferable for some guests. I had to drive some distance to find a good restaurant and location for hiking. City works interfered with access to parking and front entry.

A little bit too far from the airport ( $30-$35 by taxi), no shuttle bus service, the phone doesn't work in the room, the AC is too noisy, and regular breakfast is included with a free smile service. The building itself looks like from the 60th, not new. The fee shouldn't be more than $100.00, nice view from the window, lol Food shopping in the area: Metro store + good selection of wine/ beer, Shopper Drug Mart, Wendy's restaurant, Little Caesar Pizza, Tim Horton's, and Starbucks.

I liked that the staff was very accommodating when we ran into some other guests who seemed to be aggressive towards us.

The countless sketchy looking people in and around the hotel, and the two girls when we first arrived in the first room that seemed aggressive about us staying across the hall. The air Conditioner also was terrible !!! We woke up sweating and it was on! There was no difference between high fan and low fan, was low for both and it was sweltering hot and so uncomfortable!

Ideally situated down town and close to a variety of stores. The building is getting older and is in need of a little revamp. Garage is large and access is easy unless you have a larger vehicle but there is parking behind the building which is more than adequate.

The road construction made it difficult for me to drive around the building to access the parking but that will go in time. The bathroom was not the cleanest which was unfortunate as the room was very comfortable.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the excellent breakfasts. Far better than the continental breakfasts served at many other hotels. The room and amenities were very good. Fridge kept cold, microwave worked, did not use the coffee, as the pot was too small for four. Surprised to see an ironing board with no iron, however, many do not use irons any more anyway. Thank you for upgrading to queen size beds, supposedly at no extra charge. Enjoyed my return to my hometown of SCHUMACHER! All Staff were pleasant and very accommodating.

Parking spots seemed awkward. . .small, and narrow. Understood my original booking was for $310.66, but found out it was $333.16. I was confused. Don't know what the difference was. We booked for 4 adults, but had to call for additional towels so everyone could have their own towel for showers 2 out of 3 nights.

We remembered our 3 day stay from either 2011 or 2012, and just loved it. This has been our first trip back to Timmins since then, and we knew we wanted to come back!

My only complaint would be that my car was broken into in the garage. I had about $200.00 worth of property stolen. l reported the incident to the front desk staff immediately, and they took down all the info. A few days later, l wanted to use my American Express card and couldn’t find it. l must have absent mindedly left it in a little area near that middle arm rest that thief had lifted up to get things inside. l didn’t report this, as l had left the hotel by then, and hadn’t realized until later. l learned hotel had been having trouble with car break-ins, so l wondered why they wouldn’t have night security apart from the cameras. With someone at the front desk all night, l wondered why they couldn’t pick this up on the security cameras.

The staff members were excellent and friendly. The price was great. Breakfast was delicious and the rooms were clean.

The bed leg was broken, but my husband was able to stabilize it. There was a decent fitness room, but would love to see some dumbells in there. The parking area was a bit scary as there were vagrants in the area and the key card never worked to get into the hotel from the parking lot so it was a bit unsettling being out there.

I really appreciated how hard Mikaela at the front desk worked to help resolve any problems/issues we had and how hospitable she was. Also the breakfast staff was very kind and helpful. I also appreciated how peaceful and comfortable our stay was.

Some issues with the access card was a bit frustrating but Mikaela was amazing in resolving the issue. I also recommend that the cleaning staff once a week clean the filters from the a/c and heating components in each rooms as ours was very dirty that I cleaned it myself.

The feont desk staff were really friendly and great to deal with; they made me feel welcome and treated me well. The room I had was very spacious and comfortable; I was able to rest and relax quite deeply. I also liked that the hotel was walking distance to some good places for food.

I only had a minor complaint...connecting to the WiFi was tricky: I had to go to a different floor to actually get on the network for some reason; the connection would fail every time I tried on my floor.

The staff was exceptionally friendly, and helped make my stay (travelling across Canada with a 3 year old, 1 year old and 7 months pregnant, alone!!!) super easy, and zero stress. They also allowed me to park as close to the door as possible because it’s very difficult getting things around. The breakfast was awesome as well!

I didn’t like how the cleaner had knocked on our door 20 minutes before check out to see if we were leaving.
