BEST WESTERN PLUS Carlton Plaza Hotel

The friendly and helpful staff. The very comfortable beds and cleanliness of the room and the hotel in general.The valet and housekeeping services were great! We also loved the fact that we could do laundry there and get fresh coffee choices every day. Two of the best things we enjoyed were being within walking distance of everything and also the incredible Ruby's restaurant attached to the hotel. We highly recommend Best Western plus Carlton Plaza Hotel to family and friends.

Not having an ice machine on the same floor as our room, not having a microwave in our room, and having to pay extra for parking. We also felt we didn't get enough TV channels choices.

Staff are friendly. The hotel provides free coffee, including hot chocolate, and a water refilling station at the lobby available at anytime. Rooms were clean and bright, but a little tight. Housekeeping forgot to clean the room, as scheduled, but staff were able to reschedule it for the next day and provide us with towels and other toiletries for the time being. Location is also great - it's near shops/ restaurants downtown.

Air conditioning unit in the room can make your throat feel dry. May need cleaning/ new filters.

The staff were very accomodating, no exceptions. Catered to all my needs.

The building lacks in sound proofing. City workers up at 4:00am pressure washing the sidewalks, the sound was unavoidable. Do they really need to this at that time.

We checked in on Friday early evening, staff at the front desk were superb, Steven and Brandon texted me to see how things were going, I appreciated that. On Saturday we requested to change rooms because our room 526 was on top of the night club and we had a crappy night due to noise and luckily they moved us to 501! Thank you!!!! To the staff working Saturday morning!!! Hotel staff is super welcoming and friendly!

Our bath tub in room 501 didn’t drain because it was clogged with hair from previous stay 😞 we mentioned to the front desk when we checked out and she was terrified and apologetic

Loved the free coffee machine in lobby. Never experienced that before, brilliant. Loved the staff, very helpful, always smiling and acknowledging customers. walked most places with 81yr old mother. Excellent location.

Didn't like the sink outside of bathroom, needed towel racks or hooks to hang up hand towel to dry your hands. Not much room around sink for flannels and towels to be on. Also not enough space for own toiletries.

The location is perfect. 1 block from the government street. 1 block from Chinatown. The staff often texted us checking in on us to see if everything is alright. .

You need to pay for parking. The room was great. However, the floors (not carpeted) were super dirty. I do not believe they have ever mopped it. They should have provided slippers. We ended up wearing our shoes the entire time in the room.

Location, staff, cleanliness, price

We stayed 2 nights, unfortunately our room on the first night was on Johnson, close to corner of Johnson & Douglas. It was a Friday night, lots of people out late on the street and loud vehicles. We spoke with the front desk first thing in the morning, asked for a different room, away from the busy street. It was handled perfectly. We were given an upgrade and a very quiet room. All the staff we dealt with were professional, personable, empathetic and kind. We have stayed here several times in the past and I guess we were always away from the street so had never experienced the noise. We will definitely stay again, we’ll just make sure we’re on the quiet side!

We were met with kind and professional front desk staff. Steven went out of his way to make us feel welcome, and even comped our valet parking when we said we were in town for a medical appointment. He checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Our King suite was spotless, cozy, spacious, and very comfortable, especially the bed. It was very quiet, and so close to all the restaurants and other amenities we needed. My husband had a wonderful breakfast in the cafe downstairs. This will definitely not be our only stay, and next time we hope to stay longer! It will be our go to when in Victoria. Thank you!!!

They were re-enamaling the bathtubs and the scent in the hallway was quite strong, but it did not affect our experience.

- Cleanliness is amazing. Moreover, when we got into the room it smelled good which means that the room's cleanliness is well maintained. - Bed and pillows are comfortable. - People are very nice, welcoming, and available when needed. - Reception seating area is very nice and comfortable. - Overall, we had a very good experience.

- The room and bathroom sizes are a little bit smaller than expected, however, you do not feel uncomfortable, because the room's furniture is well laid out.

Good sized room, comfy bed, good shower, good restaurant next door for breakfast

The neighbourhood is just in the area frequented by junkies and the homeless (BC decriminalised hard drugs in 2023 and this is where the homeless junkies are gathering). This top floor room had a terrace but was unusable as it was covered with seagull excrement. The very loud noise of the seagulls (the neighbouring property has no bird protection fitted).
