Best Western Plus Emerald Isle Hotel

I’m not sure the name of the lady who was working that evening when we checked in.. but she was phenomenal. she deserves a raise in pay - 100%. I’m a pretty picky traveller and this employee went above and beyond to ensure my stay was exactly what I wanted/needed. she captured the spider I found and let it outside because I’m terrified.. she switched us rooms when the initial room was not up to my standard (smelled like cigarette smoke) and she was friendly, kind and professional through all of it. :)

I thought Smittys was still going to be there.. so I was a little disappointed when it wasn’t but it wasn’t a big deal.

Travelling with two children, the Best Western was ideal. Upon check-in, a surprise package was given to the kiddies. This was well received after several hours of travel. The hotel is clean, the staff is courteous, and it is well situated. There are restaurants, activities, and a supermarket all within walking distance. It is a half-hour from Victoria and only 10 minutes from the Ferry. We will definitely stay again.

The rooms were clean front desk gentleman was friendly and helpful.

It’s looked a little sketchy pulling in in daylight felt more like a motel( picture is deceiving) almost turned away but decided to check if it was clean we’d stay . Breakfast was pretty pathetic but at least there was something to eat , seemed like the front desk was understaffed to check out guests and fill the breakfast counter ( literally a counter )

Location was great, was able to book last minute, laundry facility was great. Appreciated the double sinks

The front reception lady was a little scattered when we were checking in. Nothing serious, but it was a weird exchange Breakfast was quite disappointing. The expectation had been more like scrambled eggs and toast. Having to take it back to our room was also inconvenient as we were in a separate building.

Staff was very helpful- answering questions, figuring out the booking (we arrived 2 days early but they were able to accommodate us and blend the extra days with the booking), figuring out my question on the washing machine, providing directions to nearby places and even found me a local map so Sidney made more sense.

The booking provided us what we were looking for. A decent room close to the airport to stay in prior to an early morning departure. We especially appreciated that the front desk staff were very friendly and service-oriented--they were happy to help us get a kettle for boiling water for tea and ceramic bowls for our cereal in the morning.

Given there is no breakfast buffet in COVID times, the rooms could be better equipped for helping guests to make a simple breakfast with cereal or microwaved food. A selection of breakfast basics available for purchase at the front desk would help. Availability of ceramic bowls, and metal (not plastic) cutlery in the rooms would help.

The staff was friendly and ready to assist. The bathroom seemed recently renovated and it looked and was clean. Sheet and towels also carefully set and clean. We didn’t even need more of them because the room was fully equipped. Loved the simple choices of the bar in the room. The coffee was of good quality. They offered coffee and fresh water with cucumber and lemon flavour in the lobby. As far as the location is concerned, we didn’t have a view of the sea but it was in the town and everything was in walking distance.

The room had an odour like smoke. But the curtains and the beds smelt ok. Not sure where it was coming from.

This is an unassuming property that you could drive by and miss. The rooms are dispersed over several low rise buildings that appear at first dated but inside have been renovated. Although near the highway it is very quiet. Rooms are quite large, beds are comfortable and the windows open. Staff were friendly and efficient. Prices were the lowest we could find in Sidney . We would stay here again

Smitty’s was a good breakfast . Staff were exemplary, particularly Karen and Ben. They were extremely friendly , helpful . They went out of their way to get us checked into a room earlier than usual and called us to ensure we would get that room early. Everyone was very friendly and Sidney is a lovely city !

The bathroom setup with the toilet and shower together but the sink outside the room made the flow somewhat difficult with a family of 4.

The room was a great size. I had booked the wrong room and front staff was very helpful in getting me the right room.

The breakfast was a little small. Would have like some coffee chocies.
