Voyageur Motel

We travel to visit cities, locations, points of interest, attractions, etc...not to visit hotels or motels. We were in RMH to go hiking in Nordegg area and needed a good inexpensive place to crash after a long day of hiking. This motel provided exactly that! A clean room, hot shower, and comfy bed. That's all we needed, that what we got.

Nothing. I was worried at first that it might be loud because the motel was full of mostly rig workers or other trades who sometimes have a tendency to be loud and drinking. But those boys were all tired after working long hours too so it was all quiet. No complaints!

We needed a super late check in as our travel was delayed due to weather and we had no trouble once we finally arrived around 2:00 am. We were greeted quickly and despite having a minor issue with using Visa Debit to book online, the owner went above and beyond and still held the room while we traveled. The room was very clean and had a surprising amount of amenities! We will definitely be staying here again if we travel to the area.

Location is good and easy to find. Staff were friendly. Good to have the kitchenette although did not use. Good for longer stay. Good price for the room. Shouldn't expect too much for the price.

The room fixtures looked a bit old especially the bathroom. No hair dryer in room although it's available on request.

The hotel is older and well used but despite that, it was so clean. That's what really impressed me. It's not posh in any way but you get what you pay for. I'll definitely stay there again.

The hotel isn't close to any stores, it would be nice to have a vending machine for snacks.

The beds were extremely comfortable; the blankets, light and warm, the tub, deep and lots of water, with two access bars for easier access; a small kitchenette with fridge and microwave. We really appreciated the helpfulness of the manager fixing our internet access. A very enjoyable stay!

The new buildings are deluxe and very soundproof. The doors are solid strong sound proof. Breakfast was a short walk to Tim Hortons.

The bathtub was nice, super deep. Room was clean. Dedicated modem in room with wifi. Good location. Night desk clerk seemed friendly enough, as did morning cleaning staff. Be sure to leave a tip in your room no matter where you stay if you're happy with the way things are. It puts a smile on the face of the worker doing a mostly thankless job.

Not the motels fault, but the train that went by blaring it's horn super close by at 0330-0400 wasn't the best. I don't think anywhere in town could avoid that though, based on how close it sounded. Bed was a bit too soft for my liking. I am rarely happy with motel pillows, so I bring my own with me when I travel. I highly recommend you do the same. Makes a huge difference.

Easy access off of the highway, clean, comfortable beds. Good price.

No lamps in room. Parking was a little bit strange in front of our room. First key did not open the door easy, but staff quickly resolved the problem.

The staff were very polite and welcoming. Bathroom was very clean. A/C is updated and ice cold. Good WiFi connection in room.

No toilet paper in the room. No sugar for the coffee available in the room.

This place exceeded our expectations. It doesn’t have a great outward appearance that says “Stay here” but in our case we needed a place to stay relatively sooner and we were very impressed. The rooms are so clean and the beds are beyond comfortable including the sheets. This is a place where a lot of trades workers stay and you wouldn’t know. I would stay here over any of the big chain hotels which surprises me to even say. the front desk gentleman was very kind and friendly. We also had a kitchenette which was well maintained. The price was very reasonable.

The property is definitely not attractive but when the majority of guests staying are trade workers, that isn’t the intent to focus on the outwards appearance which I can appreciate. But don’t let the looks fool you. The only real complaint I have is that the room we stayed in had a shelf between the beds that overlapped the beds quite significantly and the concern of rolling over and hitting your head is quite high. The placement of outlets in the middle of the headboard where pillows go was a concern as well. Parking may be an issue as you do have trades who have personal vehicles in the property as well as their work trucks. Other than that, there is no complaints what so ever. The shelf and outlet placement is so irrelevant compared to all the pros that this place offered.
