Metterra Hotel on Whyte

Breakfast was great, location very good, but the folks on Whyte literally party until dawn on the weekends, not a major issue, but this place would be better for weekday stays. On the other hand, it was walking distance to a lot of great pubs and restaurants, parking was a few blocks away, but fine once you figured out where it was (the front desk was giving out old maps when I arrived, which led to some back and forth on my end).

Most of that is mentioned above, the room was great and comfortable and parking was an easy in and out.

the hotel staff are amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and responsive to any question or request; the location, right on Whyte Avenue is great, close to the U of A hospital and other medical facilities we had appointments at; and, although parking is off-site, the valet parking service is most appreciated and helpful.

This was a learning journey for me, traveling with a partner who is disabled. The hotel does have 2 handicapped accessible rooms but neither are on the ground floor so in the event of an evacuation, you need to be able to manage using stairs. To be fair, I didn't think to ask about this prior to booking. The hotel is perhaps not the best choice for folks with a disability which is unfortunate as it's a wonderful facility, with amazing staff and a great location.

Breakfast was awesome, and loved the machine that gave great lattes - had a nice selection of hot (bacon and scrambled eggs, oatmeal options) and cold (hard boiled eggs, toasts, pastries, yogurts and cereal). We came here without a car and this was absolutely the one place I'd want to be to be able to walk around and check out local shops and restaurants. The room was larger than expected, quieter than expected, and lots of nice perks and touches like the little earplugs (which we didnt need), little in room coffee and cream supplies, room fridge, a large shared patio, even provided us with little packet of antibacterial wipes which is a nice touch in these pandemic times.

The bed had a dip so it may be time for some new mattresses as we kept rolling into the hole, and it would be really sweet to have a speaker that allowed us to hook up our phones to (but that's just a suggestion) Honestly though, we had no complaints - this was a really nice place to stay!

The rooms have very comfortable furnishings, nicely decorated rooms, exceptionally comfortable beds.

The breakfast was not the quality I expect at a 4 star hotel. Soft soggy pastries, tasteless muffins.Poor choice of bread for toast. Eģgs, bacon and sausage were good. Fruit, yogurt and granola options were good. First day the coffee was good, second day not drinkable. I think Merterra could improve the breakfast, it is not worth $18

Sonita was a wonderful. Her big smile was always welcoming each morning at breakfast. Rest of the staff were nice & easy to deal with. Valet parking was great as well. Especially due to the traffic & amount of people on Whyte it was comforting to have my car put away at night, and off the streets.

The only thing is the parking but all worked just fine

Our room was along the side of Whyte Ave and the first night someone with a loud speaker was playing and singing ALL NIGHT until about 3:00 am, which meant little to no sleep. Next time we will just request a room on the other side of the building. There is no room cleaning on weekends so we suggested more towels and/or paper towels in rooms would help.

Staff was fantastic and location is great as you have multiple choices for eating and walking around. Bed was very comfortable and pillows were good too. Spa bath tub was fantastic. King suite was beautiful...lots of room. Breakfast included was good also.

Valet parking is a deal at $18.00 per day. And super convenient and hassle free! Breakfast exceeded our expectations with healthy options included. Super value. Room: bathrooms super clean, beds super clean, rest of room a bit worn out and couch had stains. Probably due for a refresh but the friendly and accommodating staff made up for it! Would return. ps. definitely noisy being on Whyte Ave but fun crowd and earplugs provided.

Great location, walking distance to everything you would want in a little getaway. Unique design, clean rooms, great breakfast, staff was always there willing to help with a friendly smile. Room was very quiet for facing the busy street.

Room and shower fixtures need bit of an update. Parking was off site, but still nearby, use of the valet was preferred method.

The room and the facilities were great! The coffee maker was broken, but we let them know. It was a quiet comfortable room with good space. We enjoyed our stay, and we would stay again.

Although they had a terrific coffee choice (Illy), the broken coffee maker was a bit disappointing, but they may not have known.

The front desk host James went above and beyond to help me in my stay. I’m so thankful I was able to get a room last-minute on a game night with most of the city without vacancy. The Met is always a great hotel to stay at - clean, convenient location, professionally staffed, pleasing aesthetic - but James really made the stay for me.
