Hotel Ego

Hotel Ego is located in the perfect place related to the Old City. 10 minutes walk to its centre means that you can access everything with ease. The car can stay in the private parking because it's not needed. However, if you stay enough, it's important to know that Bulgaria has wonderful waterfalls and most of them are close to Plovdiv and can be accesses by car and, of course, a small walk in nature. Rooms are big and very nicely decorated. Like in a studio, the room has a sofa and a small kitchenette. The bathroom is spacious and very well ventilated and this is a big plus because the humidity is completely exhausted after shower The breakfast is good quality. The orange juice is tasty, not the usual hotel orange juice. The personal is very friendly and caring. It was a pleasure to stay here and the whole experience was memorable.

Best dog-friendly hotel in Plovdiv. Very close to restaurants and city centre. The rooms are clean, comfortable with good wifi. The breakfast is perfect.

The hotel has own parking but only limited places available. The receptionist can help you to park nearby.

located in the heart of Plovdiv near many museums restaurants & places of interests .... ie .... the old town & the Kapana this hotel is modern clean & inexpensive the staff are 1st rate helpful & friendly i would gladly stay at this hotel again . i could honestly find neither fault or complaint with Hotel Ego

Good breakfast with some tasty local options, friendly staff, comfortable location. If you arrive from Sofia by bus you can get off earlier, there is a bus stop not so far from the hotel, about 10 minutes by foot. Also 10 minutes by foot from the hotel to the city center. There is a minibar in the room, though I did not use it, it can be useful if you arrive late.

Noise isolation is not so good. Carpet is only around the bed so in case e.g. a neighbor is moving a chair you will hear it. There is no kettle and tea so you'll have to bring your own if you need it.

Good room with balcony although I don't get the weird Bulgarian way with individual single sheets on double beds. Why not a proper sheet for the bed size? Staff helpful especially guven Booking.com's annoying habit of again cancelling my booking 2 days before arrival for not yet paying when payment is meant to be at the location

Breakfast was the weakest point.Tends to be common in Bulgaria but this was below what I had hoped and what I thought I recalled from previous stay 3 years ago

At first we were a little disappointed because we were asking for a large king or queen size bed and instead there were two separate beds. But this is not only a problem unavailability, I think it’s also a booking.com problem, because booking.com considers this as a special request instead of being a simple choice and sends a message to the hotel as if it is something special that you would like to ask like an extra bed or something. Normally it has to be just a choice like choosing a double, triple or single room. Maybe it’s just me, but usually couples prefer to stay in one bed. Another thing, the room was at the last floor and I was afraid it would be too hot. But when we saw the room I think it worth it, because it was spacious, impeccably clean and it has exactly what we need it. For instance, we use to have a coffee or two in the morning before breakfast, in the room, and coffee facilities are most welcomed. Not every hotel has this to offer. It was not too hot, because of the window blinders made out of wood that you could close and the air conditioning was comfortable and efficient. It was a central climate system which I prefer. The room had a very nice balcony that offers a view in the surrounding area which is neat in the morning when you want to have your coffee. An ashtray for those who cannot wait to smoke outside the room, even if we did not need it. The floor was wood and very clean. The towels were changed, they cleaned up the room and made the beds every day. Breakfast was excellent and plenty. The staff was exceptionally helpful and warm, and we felt welcomed. They are trying to do their best to accommodate the clients and we actually felt very well. The location is excellent too. 10-15 minutes from old town and shopping area. There are 2 private parking areas and we found a spot even in weekend. Sauna is available, ready in 20. If I would go to Plovdiv again I am sure that I would come back to this hotel or I would recommend it to my friends.

The hallways could be a little louder from the neighbours with children, but after entering the room, the soundproof is efficient. We slept very well. A thing that I have seen in Bulgaria and it is NOT related to the hotel is that the city garbage bins are in the streets and sometime it’s very close to hotels or restaurants, and it is not nice to pass through some smelling stuff. I guess it is a general thing in the main cities.

The rooms are kind of very well insulated and the heat inside builds up quickly and it gets hot at some point. But the AC solves this problem, so not a big deal. We just had to be more careful with the AC, because we were with a baby.

On site said early chrck in available but 1 min after paid emailed doubt it?! Was low season hotel not busy im sure !! .we arrived soaked from rainstorm travelling 8 hrs hoping get shower .told no way get in even hr earlier ..this meant all day stuck in wet clothes .would not book if hadnt actually put on site early check in inc ....

Decent location not far from the pretty old town and fairly close to the area in the new town where a lot of dinner options are gathered. Good, varied breakfast buffet. Room quite sizable, with a comfortable bed. Helpful lady on front desk.

Floor in the shower was rather slippery - be careful of this. Somewhat dour, characterless modern building, but I guess that doesn't matter once you're in the room.

The room was cosy, the baby cot was perfect - new, clean, with a fresh mattress. The staff was friendly, helpful and multilingual, the breakfast was delicious and very rich, the location was fantastic - there was a great local restaurant nearby, where we could enjoy a beer after we put our baby to sleep (even if our baby woke up, we were close enough to run to him). Highly recommend the hotel, we will definitely go back again.

The room was a bit dark and the AC was not strong enough. And there was no restaurant or a Caffèin the hotel.
