Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne

Lovely old building. Excellent value for 2 night stay. Parking easy. Restaurant food delicious. Staff friendly. Would definitely recommend for a city stay.

Room very small. Couldn’t open wardrobe against bed. Not enough room in wardrobes to hang winter coats & store bags. No luggage stand to unpack (perhaps supply a fold out one). Booked twin, arrived to find double, asked to have it resolved while we were out at dinner. Arrived back at 11pm to find it was still one bed. Reception staff member said they’d mistaken our room for another! A small thing but annoying especially late at night. Staff friendly but need to be more efficient and less personal chat at breakfast. Could be better in a couple of months hopefully with further tweaks & training.

Charming hotel in a great, central location. Close to Melbourne's shops, attractions, museums and galleries, and the free "City Circle" tourist tram stop is only metres away. All in easy walking distance, or hop-on/off the standard trams (free within the city boundary). The check-in staff were cheerful and friendly, and the breakfast room staff were also friendly and attentive. A good selection for breakfast. Our Yarra View room looked over the railway and river towards Southbank, which was stunning at night. There is background noise from the trams and trains however. The hotel also has a deal with a nearby parking lot, with a heavily reduced rate. We'd be happy to stay again.

Great Everything to put it in a nutshell:) Perfect location and environment for me as a woman traveling alone. Excellent In-house bar with a happy hour and restaurant. Flinders Station just across the road so great and easy access to all locations you might want to check out and the circle tram stops outside the door. Elizabeth street tram on the corner and once you work out the Melbourne grid you can go anywhere. Close to the more interesting shopping area for me and far enough away from the bustle of the main Bourke Street and Emporium malls, but they are just an effortless tram ride. The staff are great, and the historic building just set it all off for me. Nothing was too much for the staff, and they really went out of their way to make my stay just right:) Thank you team!! See you next time I'm in Melbourne:)

No airport shuttle but it is a $10.00 uber ride to the Skybus terminal at Southern Cross Station.

I like the grandeur of the outside of this building, the inside lobby area is also divine & kept looking classy. High ceilings is another feature in this hotel. With first contact made at reception the staff are lovely and welcoming and go out of their way to engage you in light conversation. The rooms are very clean with an extremely comfortable bed. The variety of teas & coffee is an added bonus with a coffee pod machine also in the room. The room we had has a beautiful view and with double windows the bust Flinders street traffic noise is close to non existent. Great Buffett breakfast too.

The wish the toilet had a clear space in front of it as the bath is there. I would much prefer if there was a shower to get rid of this issue.. ( I have had recent knee surgery)

The location is central, easy walk to Bourke st, the shopping district. Near Flinder St Station for trains and at a good intersection for trams. The bed was quite comfy and it was nice to get amenities like a bottled water, a bathroom and slippers after a long day. Staff were professional and quite nice.

Check in was a little chaotic and busy as the hotel appears to be the preferred hotel for Singapore airline staff. I think this makes it difficult for the hotel to deliver on early check in. Not a big deal, but worthwhile noting.

The location is perfect! Flinders street station only a few minutes away, easy to walk from southern cross station or take the metro from southern cross station if you arrive by skybus with heavy luggage. Centrally located, renovated rooms with comfy slippers, beds and pillows and good ventilation in the bathroom. Good value for money and good breakfast (must try the hashbrowns) Overall very pleasant stay!

Maybe just a one off occasion - there was someone’s sock under the table when i checked in. Had lights flashing (at the entrance if the room) in the evening. The fridge/freezer did not work so well, my ice-cream melted despite putting on lowest temperature.

Location to main area. Hotel room was well appointed. Comfortable bed and perfect pillows to lay in for sleep. Critical for a good review. Thank god as our previous two nights at the Oakwood premiere the pillows were too thick, chunky, firm, and I could not use them. Yours were luxurious and so soft. Also tgr coffee machine worked perfectly and each day were restocked! Another issue elsewhere. Critical for a hotel to get the simple things right. The robes are divine too. Thankyou. A great place and Tony the doorman went over and above for us. Don’t lose him!!

We had no complimentary breakky. Just continental would be great. I note that there was a booking avail the following week for $80 less for the stay, and included breakfast, not sure why we missed out. Even a bottle of wine maybe. Sorry to add but I’m being honest, we loved it there.

Perfect location in walking distance or by trams to get to majority of things, very central. Easy access for carpark conveniently located right next door & secure. Breakfast made for a king & queen. Delightful hotel where modern meets with ornate historical surroundings. Simply beautiful. Would highly recommend & was recommended to me by my daughter & partner. Had everything we could possibly need.

Nothing to do with the hotel itself. My map didn’t seem to synch well so would veer us off track a little & trams were interrupted to get us where we needed but my partner saved the day with getting a taxi to get us back in time to grab car to get him to airport in time.

The Hotel was very central and very close to the Train station as we arrived by the Overland Train from Adelaide It is as historic as the ad implies but the rooms themselves are very modern and comfortable. The staff were exceedingly helpful.

The room was tiny. The photos are"true" but done very carefully to avoid showing the actual size. I think the Sq mteres shown in the ad included the bathroom, internal bathroom walls, closets, fridge and the space behind the blackout curtains. Access for the Mobility Scooter from the street was a challenge - the hall to access the lower Elevator is very tight and our small scooter could just fit. A normal size one would not fit in the elevator even if it could make the turn

Our stay at Rendezvous was delightful. The recent upgrade pays exceptional attention to detail, retaining all the beautiful period features and historical significance of the building while adding all the mod cons. The commerce queen room is simple and quiet with a lovely feel and a comfy bed with crisp sheets. Bathroom (with a bath) is compact but spotlessly clean. Fantastic, fresh buffet breakfast with a great range of cold and hot choices - loved the crepes with marscapone cream. Restaurant staff are particularly lovely and there's 24 hour room service offering food you actually want to eat. Excellent value for money at $152.85 p/night including full breakfast for two through booking.com. Rendezvous is our go-to choice for accommodation whenever we travel to Melbourne. Unassuming exterior hides a historical gem in a brilliant city location. Highly recommend

The next door car park (not part of the hotel) was very handy but exorbitantly expensive so plan your parking beforehand - worth checking if they do a prepay option.
