Best Western Queen Victoria Market Hotel

Sorry this is my first hotel review so I’m just gonna list things I remember and I’d want to know when booking a hotel ig~ I loved how clean everything was, the room design suits my style of living - modern & minimal. We were given two cards, one for the electricity and the other for the room door which is also used for entering the building after hours & the lift. The room had a nice AC system that we used a lot bc it was so cold in Melbourne. The desk/study was also nice bc we had to study on this trip D: There were towels, body soap, small bar soap, shampoo, a hairdryer, an extra toilet roll, tissues, a TV, free wifi, a full-length mirror & clothing hangers which was useful for planning outfits. There’s a kettle, coffee, tea & sugar sachets, a small fridge w milk and downstairs there was a vending machine with a seated area. The place was pretty close to the city, quite a few restaurants, a laundromat and a tram nearby. The staff were super lovely and after you check out, they can hold onto your luggage if you need it :oo (no extra cost!!)

The room is a little bit small for keeping our two luggage bags open most of the time but that’s about it~

The room, whilst very basic, was very clean, and quiet. Only downside would be if you were staying longer there is no wardrobe in the room, only a small towel rail with a few coat hangers on, next to one of the beds.

Reception were challenging to talk to on telephone as they could not understand us very well. When we arrived it took 10-15 minutes wait as the one lady was already busy on the phone. We were also asked to provide photographic ID for both guests prior to check in, we have never needed to do this in any other hotel, only the card holder / booking named person. The lack of cupboard or storage space meant we were stepping over our luggage in the small room.

The staff were very friendly, kind and helpful. The hotel is new and really clean. Toiletries were in the bathroom for us, 3 of everything so we could have one each. Also a bath towel, hand towel and face cloth each. The beds were comfortable. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a small fridge. Good view from our room of the CBD skyline . The location is also great. We were close to the Queen Victoria market and the free tram zone We had dinner on the Saturday night in The Royal Standard Hotel just round the corner. The food was great and the portions massive.

There was nothing that we didn't like about this hotel.

It was convenient and an easy walk to the Melbourne Private Hospital. Bed was comfortable and staff were very friendly. The rain head shower was awesome. They are happy to hold your luggage when you check out so you can enjoy the day if you have a late flight.

The only thing I could fault was the room was tight. Small gap to get past between the end of the bed and the wall.

The hotel was very new, modern, sparkling clean, quiet, comfortable, with lovely helpful reception staff and in a fantastic location. Walking distance to the SkyBus Station, markets, free tram, other trams and buses, Lygon Street for great dinner restaurants and some cute breakfast cafes just around the corner and even the city. It was perfect for my daughter and I for a special Mother's Day weekend away. Thank you to staff for looking after our bags for the day while we went to a show. Much appreciated.

There was nothing we didn't like.

The staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. Organised a late check-in and was sent the instructions via email and was called to ensure I received it which was very comforting. Rooms were clean and beds were very comfortable. Staff were also more than happy to store our luggage until our evening flight back home.

The room with two singles was a bit small but didn’t bother me.

Right from the beginning I was greeted with such enthusiasm. The place is sparkling clean and brand new, an excellent location right next to the markets. The bed was comfortable and the noise was minimal.

The room was pretty much just a bed in a room, with a small slither of light for a window which was actually just a terrace facing inward, but it didn't really matter because everything else was great!

Recently renovated, brand new rooms, mattresses, bathrooms etc, new windows (well insulated), excellent air-con. Very conveniently located one block from Queen Victoria Markets where we went for breakfast. 2 tramlines within 50m and within the free tram zone.

Communication with the owners was a bit challenging due to a lack of English but they tried hard.

Staff was super friendly and the room was very clean and tidy. Liked that they had air conditioning in the room. Over all had a comfortable stay and would definitely recommend this place to my friends!! Theres a tram stop 2 minute walk from the hotel that can get you into the heart of cbd which was extra convinient.

The hotel was in a good location. The beds were very comfortable.

The heating was set at too high a temperature for the weather conditions, making the room uncomfortably warm. I didn't appreciate the hotel charging the full amount as soon as I had booked, which was about a month before our stay. The normal policy, as I understand it, is to charge the guest upon arrival.
