Windsor Castle Hotel

Hotel was excellent in every way and it was in a prime location of Maitland but there is a glitch the way booking.com show us a property for the place we want to go. For example, this place was showing up in the top 5 hotels when I was searching for a property in hunter valley. I was very specific that I wanted a hotel in hunter valley. Technically this place shouldn’t have come because it was 40 min drive away from there. We had our own car and we loved driving but honestly, this is a misleading search result. There was nothing wrong in this property and after we reached there we realised that all the places that we wanted to visit were an hour drive away … Hence I wish to give a 10/10 for this place but I want to give a 5/10 to the booking.com search engine for presenting those properties which are far far away from the destiny!!

Everything was outstanding.

The hot water, there was no hot water for a shower on some nights, & it made a shocking loud noise when u had a hot shower, not just our shower, but u could hear other people making a noise as well.

They had practical things that made life easier eg a decent sized bin and hooks for hanging towels. everything worked in the room.

we had a misunderstanding when I checked in re access to our room. they asked if we planned to come in after 1am, in which case they would give me the after hours code for the outside door. I said no we’d be home well before then. but I hadn’t realised this also applied to the morning before 11am! So after we’d been out for breakfast we were locked out, but saved by the cleaner.

Returning each evening to my own little space. Great to be able to re-charge and de-frag etc. The mushroom pasta I had for dinner on the second night was delicious, and leftovers were handy when I visited friends the next day!

The water jug in the fridge door. Twice it toppled over as I opened to get supplies and water filled the lower shelf on the door and washed out all over the walkway. Annoying. Thankfully it was only water, but if it had been some other liquid..?

Comfortable and functional rooms. You dont hear any of the noise from the pub downstairs (which I had worried about). It feels safe and secure with the door to the motel part of the pub requiring a keycard to gain access.

We have stayed at the Windsor multiple times and some of the bathrooms in the room are really nice, modern, functional etc. But there are a few that have really terrible showers over the baths with clunky shower screens that I feel like older people or people with kids would really struggle to use with ease. They are still always clean usable, but just not really what you want when paying for accommodation. The ones that have been renovated though are really very nice and modern.

Hotel was clean and Staff friendly on arrival. My son and I liked our clean room, comfy beds. Great location. Plenty of parking. Will stay again. Price is great for the location

2 things not happy with - 1st - I asked for a microwave in the special request when booking I received an email saying we will get one, it wasn't a problem. BUT, there was none in the room. 2nd - the internet. I rang the helpline for the hotel, they said it was fixed but it was still playing up. I just couldn't bother. I was upset as I brought school work with me to do:(

The overall package is great at the Windsor Castle. Rooms are modern, clean and well appointed. They are separated and sound proofed from the pub. The pub itself is modern with a good bistro and very popular. This is my 5th stay so my prefered pub accomodation in Maitland

East Maitland is a little remote from other reasonable service offerings like restaurants. We where there over Easter and all cafes were closed.

when I checked in they were going to put me in an upstairs room. My original booking was made in January 2022 while I was staying there. the booking was for July 2022 but had to be rescheduled to January due to flooding causing the event I was attending to be postponed. I had requested a downstairs room at the time of the original booking and requested it again when I had to reschedule

The room was very pleasant, clean and attractive. We had an excellent dinner in the hotel's dining room.

Probably the only down side was that we couldn't have breakfast at the hotel, but the cafe not far away was very good. We stayed on a Monday night so I don't know if it would get noisy over the weekend.

The hotel is in a very convenient location and the accommodation is comfortable, clean and great value for money. The pub food is excellent. The service is likewise excellent. We have stayed here many times and will continue to do so. The facilities around the hotel are also very good - great cafes, chemist, supermarket etc all within walking distance. Perfect for travellers.
