Tango de Mayo Hotel

The Art Nouveau decor is charming and tasteful as are the tango-themed details such as the bathroom tiles. I loved it. And the unbeatable location allowed me to take advantage of a comprehensive 2.5-hour Free Walks tour meeting up a few blocks nearby. Staff members were welcoming and super helpful, allowing me to check in several hours early. The hotel actually shares a wall with the famous landmark, Palacio Barolo! You'll probably have to stand in line, but don't miss out on a visit to Café Tortoni a few blocks down Avenida de Mayo.

Location is excellent. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is nice. Room is spacey. Overall the hotel is good and make us feel safe. Bonus point to the very close distance to the Palacio Barolo.

NOTE that not every room in this hotel has windows! Fortunately our room has window but our friends' does not and they did book a room with window. The hotel cannot solve this problem because it's fully booked that day - so be aware whether your booking is with window or not.

Nice staff, who knew good enough English. Rooms were clean. Water pressure was phenomenal. Breakfast is light and has all the essentials (coffee, eggs, ham, bread, yogurt, fruits etc.). Lovely eclectic boutique style rooms.

Air conditioning was finicky. We had no control, therefore, happy we were there in the winter.

The facilities were amazing: very large bed, room was very clean and neat, and bathroom was great. Staff was also amazing and very helpful. They helped us book tours for the city and tango events with dinner. Their recommendations were amazing, and at the hotel we had everything we needed. Oh, and the buffet breakfast was great also. Location was very centric, and reaching most places in the city was really easy.

I don't think there was anything we didn't like.

The location was very good, not just for bus and subway lines but also for walking. Also I feld safe, also in late evening. I loved the morning view and the atmosphere on the Plaza del Congresso on the way to my workplace (for 6 days). The personnel was professional. Especially Marisol in the restaurant was very kind and attentive.

1. The room was a bit smaller than expected. I reserved a double room for us two, but my wife did not make the trip. If she were there, she would have been unsatisfied, I guess. 2. Breakfast was good. But I wished that there were some variation. The coffee, if taken without milk, was not good to my taste.

Our main compliment of the hotel is the staff. Jessica at the front desk went above and beyond to help us upon arrival - she called a restaurant for us and then got us into our room early after a long flight. Marisol at breakfast was also amazing; she made sure that I had a great gluten free breakfast every morning and also had such a smiley, pleasant demeanor. The regular breakfast was also quite extensive. Beyond the staff, our beds were comfortable, we had plenty of hot water, and it's literally across the stress from a Subte station.

Not much at all to complain about, other than that during our stay the electricity lines were being worked on outside which caused the electricity to go out for a few seconds. That only happened during 2 days of our stay though, and I suspect was just the timing of our stay and not normal by any means.

Perfect location for visiting the Southern area of Buenos Aires: Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo, La Boca, and for going out at night to Teatro Liceo, Cine Gaumont, and Buenos Aires’ oldest restaurant, El Imparcial. Loved the tango-themed style, and the staff was so lovely! About the room: small, but it’s cool, quiet, dark, the beds are very comfy, and the water pressure in the shower is excellent. Change your money safely across the road, and do your laundry in the hotel. We were leaving early on the last morning and they prepared us a delicious take-away breakfast. I will be back, and I’ll recommend to anyone visiting Buenos Aires.

Nothing! The room was slightly cramped for two, but that’s a very small price to pay for all the great things this beautiful, boutique hotel has to offer.

Beautiful hotel & amazing rooftop.

The bathroom was mouldy. The carpets in the hallway of our floor smelled really bad.

The location of the hotel is perfect - on the main street, close to many landmarks. Walking distance to everything in the city centre. Room was nice, well equipped, and everything was clean. Breakfast was amazing! There is also a roof terrace with a nice view, but the bar was closed when we went there. Hotel organised a taxi for us both from and to the airport, and staff was really friendly and helpful - they also kept our luggage on the last day, before we left to the airport.

We could notice a dampness in the air while in the room, so we needed to keep the AC in dehumidify mode.

The room was comfortable enough but a little tired in places e.g. One drawer fell apart
