BEST WESTERN The Hotel Chequamegon

Beautiful hotel and location for a city / town that is more industrial looking than some others on Superior. 1st floor rooms had super tall ceilings. not functional but it sure feels special. great balconies to sit on, fun bar in the hotel, right on the Marina and a walking/biking path the follows the shoreline. The bed was amazing.

no Kleenex in our room (box was empty. Night desk attendant was creepy AF (though pleasant, still made me and other guest uncomfortable, sorry)

Bed was comfortable. Free breakfast for well maintained. Nice patio overlooking water and harbor area. Bike/walking path runs right past hotel. Staff was friendly.

Limited outlets for dvice charging and outlets on lamps did not work. Only had nightstand on one side of bed. Elevator was extremely slow. Suspended maid service due to Covid; left used towels in hallway as instructed and one day they were replaced but next day were not so had to go to front dek for replacements.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful with a gorgeous view of the lake. I love the history in this hotel.

The only things I didn’t like were that our room hadn’t been vacuumed as we had fingernail or toenail clippings from a previous guest on the carpet near the bed and on the bathroom floor. Also the windows and outside building on the lake side were extremely dirty and gross. They need cleaned! Hard to enjoy a lakeside bedroom when you can’t even look out the windows.

The breakfast was very good. Nice selection. Location of the hotel was great. Beautiful views of Lake Superior. The Hotel restaurant was very good and the staff was helpful, friendly and professional.

We wished we could've opened the windows in our room. The weather was cool/cold at night, but we had to keep the air conditioning on because it would get stuffy.

The location was very good. The view was exceptional, and the parlor area was extremely cozy to sit down and look out the window at the beautiful view. (even though it was frozen solid.) Staff was friendly and helpful!! Will definitely go back!!!

Breakfast was ok. Could use more options for food selections. Only had eggs and sausage and one waffle maker. Bread products were a bit limiting also.

Location was great. Breakfast was wonderful. The gentleman running breakfast was kind and very polite. A great employee to have. The deck was a nice place to sit, relax and enjoy the bay view.

The pool area was small and could use a whirlpool. The overall price of the hotel top to bottom was kinda high. Though all the hotels are in town.

What’s not to like? Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. I have to say ALL of the staff here is amazing. Everyone was so nice, helpful, friendly and chatted away like we were all family. The wonderful lady we spoke to at breakfast, wish I knew her name, she was a busy lady, on the go with keeping everyone full and checking in us. She didn’t have to do that, making sure we got everything we needed, amazing woman!!! And the breakfast? Excellent! The rooms are outstanding and the beds are SO COMFORTABLE!! Oh my goodness. I can’t wait to come back for book across the bay. Yes, I reserved this hotel because I love everything about it. We ate the on-site restaurant twice and it was outstanding!! Seriously! Not a bad thing to say. Except maybe that “death by chocolate cake”…. WOW!! Yum yum! I truly appreciate everything you have all done here, keep it up!!! Love the staff! Love this hotel! Thank you!

The hotel has a great location with the lake in its backyard thus we could enjoy beautiful views, some amazing sunsets from our room, hotel terrace and hotel restaurant. It’s also in the center of the town so you could easily walk to restaurants and points of interest. The Mural Walk, reflecting the history of the town, starts right across the street. The hotel decor reminds you of old time European mansions. It has a beautiful lounge past the lobby. You could have your breakfast in the lounge or on the terrace and enjoy the lake view. The room was quite spacious and had all the needed amenities. The hotel has a very good restaurant on site: Chequamegon Grill , where we had a great dinner. Whitefish was delicious and their signature dessert, Swedish Cream with berries was fabulous. The service was also very good. The hotel staff was very courteous, helpful, and nice especially the housekeeping supervisor and the young lady during our check-in and check-out. She speeded up getting our room ready to check-in. We appreciated it a lot.

Since I am a light sleeper, I requested a room on a higher floor in a quiet area away from the elevators. Our room was on a second floor unfortunately very close to the elevator and opposite from the small room where the ice machine was. It was very noisy and especially when other quests were getting ice late at night and very early in the morning. It was very annoying to hear the rumbling of the dispensed ice cubes and people talking while waiting for the elevator. We really did not get a goodnight sleep. There was only one nightstand between the beds. The room could use another nightstand on the other side of the bed and some USB outlets. The switch of the lamp on the nightstand was not working properly so you hand to plug and unplug it each time.

We loved the location and the grounds were beautiful. We took several walks around the grounds. The hotel was beautiful snd clean. All staff was pleasant. Breakfast was delicious. Overall it was awesome.

We tried to call to book, but they never returned our call so we booked on line and since we went through a third party we didn't get a discount, which we have AAA, AARP, AND OUR BEST WESTERN REWARDS. Also they should be more informative when checking in, we stayed for 2 nights and our room never got cleaned. They said you need to let us know if you want your room clean.

It was the perfect location and close to the Nature Center where we had to meet each morning. Breakfast was great the day we could be there for breakfast. The room was a nice size, very clean, and we really enjoyed our stay.

Breakfast was being served too late to us to participate 2 of the 3 days we were there. It would have been nice to have a television in the living room area instead of the bedroom.
