Extended Stay America Suites - Newport News - Yorktown

Everything was great. The room was extra clean, the set up was nice, we didn't have any problems with the people next door (noise wise.) The whole hotel was clean and neat if you ask me and the staff was amazing. They were very helpful, pleasant and showed a lot of hospitality.

Two things I didn't like. One was when we was cooking the smoke detectors went off because they are VERY SENSITIVE. Even though we followed the instructions to have the windows open and the vent on - it still went off. It wasn't a bad thing but it is something to be mindful about. Another thing was that our first room was a joint room so we went back to the lobby to get a room that didn't have that. I didn't feel comfortable with that because they were complete strangers and I don't play about that nor did I ask for a joint room. They should definitely tell people about that before hand but other than that we didn't have a problem.

My name is Tiffany and me and my family have been here about a month. I love all the staff! I absolutely love Ms. Debbie(front desk) she is so caring and understanding! The GM Ms. Shar is the best! She is always smiling and checking on us! Ms Shirley (housekeeping) is always busy, but still takes the time to ask me how I am doing and will keep me company when she can. Truly a hard worker! The Assistant GM, Ms.Beverly, is also a great person, She cares about her job and knows how to do it well! She is a tough one, but she has a good heart and I appreciate her! The location itself is beautiful and the room itself is comforting.. Only thing I would change is more breakfast choices but understandable with COVID. The wifi isn't the best but that is out the hotels hands so no complaints from of us :)

Not that I don't like the breakfast they have, just wish it was more choices bc my one year old is picky and loves eggs lol but hey I got a kitchen! So no big deal.

i liked that it was in a quiet and tucked away area but you could still get to restaurants & small stores and attractions when needed. it wasn’t filthy but it could’ve been cleaned better. clean bed sheets and pillow cases. bathroom was overall cleaned but i found little hairs in the shower before my use.

i didn’t like how the tv stand was broken when i got there. i didn’t like the amount of bugs i seen when i entered the room. i didn’t like how i payed for a suite that comes with appliances that i would hope and wanted to use but they didn’t supply any pots, pans, plates, bowls or forks. they didn’t supply any extra garbage bags under the sink, & only supplied one dish towel no rags. only thing they supplied were a lot of cups.

It was a convenient location to lots of stores, and restaurants. Looks really nice on the outside.

I didn’t like how the elevator and hallway floors were very dirty. It looked like fur all over the hall floor as well as dirty from other debris. The elevator had lots of sticky stuff on the floor was gross had to make sure I didn’t step on anything. Also when we got into the room a huge water bug was crawling on the floor tried to kill but it got away was uncomfortable because wasn’t sure where it went.

Location of the hotel is great. Away from the busy roads, no traffic noise. The staff are very pleasant. The key card entry is nice, no "wanderers" can get into the premises. The hotel is a "Pet Friendly" hotel, but if there are any disturbances at all, Mgt. will take care of the situation immediately.

Breakfast was just a grab and go. No open sit down area or actual meal at this time. Booking.com needs to make some note of that. The ice machine is broken, needs to be replaced. No pool.. but not a deal breaker.

Was not told at checking in anything about breakfast so I thought it was not an option. Wish I would of asked if breakfast was included

I did not like using booking dot com. The card I used was just to be for the reservation but when I checked in I was informed that the card was already charged. Went back to my emails and it said card would NOT be charged. I think I’m owed something for the mess up. I looked for a phone number so I could call and complain but never saw a phone number through my emails. Poor service from booking dot com

I never sleep well in hotels because the beds are always awful but these beds were the BEST! I have not slept so sound in a very long time. I loved our room setup. We had a double room suite and it was like a little apartment. It was great!!

We didn’t have any ice or ice buckets, no little coffee maker etc . It at least would have been nice to have some ice. The “extras” were missing. No little shampoos etc. the biggest thing was the ice. The other room did have something on the curtain but that stuff happens so it wasn’t a huge deal.

I love the cleanliness of the check in area the rooms never disappoint depends on the room you get a water view if your 207 this last time 208 had parking lot viee but loved the option for kitchen utilities and small living room and the bed was very comfortable where I didn't want to get up in the morning.

Loved the room, location, and staff! The room was like brand new! Beautiful!!! Felt like home and didn't want to leave! Everything you could need is within walking distance. The location was the best you could ask for. Wonderful place!

The only 2 things I can think of is that the room next doors cooking fish and other unpleasant odors would seep into our room through the connecting door. And we had to clean our own rooms. Even take our trash out to the dumpster that was overflowing and haul our sheets to the office to exchange them for clean.

The room was very comfortable and very quiet.

A staff member who works there was the most unfriendly person I've ever met. We had some things delivered and she wouldn't even check to see if they arrived. When we asked about our future reservation she refused to look it up. She wouldn't give us towels, we had to wait two days to get towels from another staff member. I would not stay there again because I thought she was so rude. I will take my business to a different hotel.
