Shamrock Country Inn

We liked that this place was a family-owned and operated business. The price could not be beaten especially considering it included breakfast (waffles, juice, cereal, etc - better than most we had on our trip) which saved us money and time stopping for breakfast later. The rooms were clean and the place was quiet. We dealt with the owners in the office, at breakfast, and cleaning the rooms and every encounter was warm and pleasant. I don't know if/when our travels will take us back to Shamrock, but if we get there, we'll be staying here again.

A minor criticism, the place seemed a bit dated but that was what we expected for being an independent establishment and considering the price. Still, the cleanliness and value made up for older furnishings.

Loved the 3 queen beds in one room. Room was very spacious. For being an older motel it was very clean. The owner was so helpful everyday. He was available whenever we needed something. We were there for 6 days visiting friends. We never woke up in time for breakfast, but he was kind enough to allow my Dad to get coffee in the breakfast room all throughout the day. There are coffee makers in the rooms, but the cup it makes is very small and not enough for my Dad who drinks it all day, everyday. It was very quiet. Probably the most quiet motel/hotel I've ever stayed in. It was conveniently located within walking distance to the U Drop Inn Cafe and so many other things to see in Shamrock.

We were there in January and it snowed. Which was beautiful and they took care to salt the parking lot and pathways and clear them well. The heat worked a little too well, but if you turned it off it got cold super fast. There was no in between.

Rooms are clean and comfortable, the host at the front desk was extremely gracious and checked on us to make sure everything was ok. He also provided local info. The location was perfect. It's right off the highway, near food and gas and the locals were indeed a joy and very friendly! Oh and there was a wall heater in the bathroom which I loved!!! Breakfast and ice packs were included. We stayed in a family room with 3 beds. Fridge, microwave and dining table in the room. Dog friendly (small fee).

The water was warm but not hot. But nothing we couldn't live with.

Everything was functional. Loved having a bedside table on each side of the bed. The room was very clean. Breakfast had eggs and Texas shaped waffles. This place gave us the giggles. The bathroom had pink tiles, a green tub and toilet, yellow walls and orangey brown flooring. In the main room, the accent wall was lime green. There was an orangish bedspread and a navy and burgundy carpet. This place is a very old fashioned Rt 66 motel. Nothing wrong with that. It is clear that the owners have worked hard to repair rather than replace. The reviews at 8.7 gave me an inflated idea of the quality of the room. I think that was a reflection of value for the price, not a bad tradeoff for a night on a road trip.

3 pillows on a king bed for 2 people. Would it hurt to have 4 pillows?

Loved this route 66 motel! The owner was so friendly and helpful when checking in. He gave us info on local places to eat. The room was spacious and comfortable. The green and pink bathroom brought a smile to my face. It was 107 degrees when we checked in and the room was nice and cool. The owner had turned on the ac so it would be nice when we checked in. The room had a microwave and a fridge. The breakfast was just fine. I love waffles shaped like Texas. Would absolutely stay here again.

The staff were so sweet and caring. I loved the quiet location and the cleanliness of the room and the comfort of the bed. The room was very quaint and cute. The breakfast was delicious, it was a vegetarian style array of options which is fine with me as I eat a vegetarian diet.

I didn’t like that the reception on the tv was fuzzy, and only basic cable was provided when other hotels offer more channels or streaming services, but that’s not that big of a deal. I would also like if the facility had a pool on site, that would’ve been perfect for such hot summer days that we stayed here.

My husband and I were on the road for 5 weeks driving through Canada, then down the west coast to San Diego and up on Route 66, we stayed in motels every night of the trip, The Shamrock Inn is VERY HIGH on our list of BEST motels we stayed at. We even had a the pleasure of meeting a man named Tye there, he sang us a few songs, told fascinating life stories and is the local "town artist".. The majority of the murals in this town were done by him.. I loved everything about this town..💝

There is NOTHING not to like..

Loved how well cared for the property is. This motel is on iconic Route 66. The highlights of its day had busy roadways with travelers seeing the country. By keeping this property clean, well cared for and retaining the historic fashions of its day, you keep the Route 66 spirit alive! Thank you for not remodeling and demolishing the genuine charm of that motel. Keep the pink tiles & green bathroom fixtures! Really appreciated that the walls didn't have chipped paint or mis-matched paint splotches. Room was super clean too. Not even a questionable moment when doing my preliminary inspection upon entry. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise too! Most hotels stopped offering hot breakfast due to covid, however we were informed upon check-in that they use real eggs for their scrambled eggs! We were thrilled! And BONUS Texas shaped waffles!!!!

The alarm clock next to the bed buzzed with static at random times. Just unplugged from the wall and moved on with my life. I did mention this to the owner (who greeted us upon arrival!).

This is a fantastic value in a quaint little town on the classic Route 66! The owner and staff are extremely friendly, and the rooms are large and comfortable. We were just passing through, but would have gladly stayed longer if the opportunity arose. The motel is "mid-century modern" vintage, with fixtures to match. Our room had a pink toilet and bathtub! For a very reasonable price, we had a room with a king bed, plenty of pillows, a mini fridge and microwave, and coffee maker. AND - you also get breakfast (scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, juice, and waffles in the shape of Texas!!!). This is a tremendous deal and the best-rated motel in Shamrock, TX!

The location is slightly off the beaten path of the interstate, but it allowed us to see part of their town. The paint job on the motel is festive and very Texas. The rooms for sure need updating, but everything works and the bed is very comfortable. The breakfast is nothing to write home about, but the Texas shaped yourself waffles were neat. Overall, for the price, you cant beat it!
