The Gunter Hotel

I love the character and history of the Gunter. The location couldn't be more perfect, especially if you're going to The Majestic. Always clean and the staff....I cannot tell you how thoughtful, kind, and conscientious the entire staff always is . They are a big part of why I continue to look to the Gunter for my stay in San Antonio. Overall, the Gunter is wonderful!

The only complaint that I have is this: The sheets on my bed were BRUTAL...I found it impossible to sleep because they were so rough and scratchy. I even tried the other bed in my room hoping that it had better sheets, but they weren't. PLEASE invest in better quality sheets. I do know that the next time I plan to book a room at the the Gunter, I intend to bring my own sheets. Please consider investing in softer, better-quality sheets.

Great, centrally-located hotel, very easy to get to all of the major attractions near downtown San Antonio. Loved the historic feel, and the leather furniture was a nice touch.

The only downside was the pool/pool area was a bit on the smaller side and swarming with children and drunk frat guys the entire time I was there... but it's summer and 100+ degrees and there's only so much room a hotel downtown can have for a swimming pool, so not really a dig against the hotel itself. Just be aware if you visit during the hot summer months, if you don't get to the pool by ~8 or 9 am you'll be fighting for a spot, ha.

it was close to the festivities. I loved that it was a historical hotel.

I sure didn’t want to pay almost $20 for a breakfast buffet, that appeared to look like any “free” breakfast at any hotel, and they were not serving anything but the buffet. I also did not appreciate the almost $50 to valet park my car, for one night.

Sheraton Gunter is a pet friendly hotel near Travis Park, which is very convenient for our pup. Staff was friendly, check in was fast and easy, valet was prompt. The location is near restaurants, bars, and shopping. The details in the building and decor are beautiful. We will definitely make a return trip soon.

There was a slow leak coming from the ceiling vent. It was reported to front desk.

From the time we arrived, we were welcomed into an ambiance of elegance, tranquility and luxury. The lobby was very inviting and had many resources and information available. Front Desk agent was friendly, and courteous. The beds were among the best I had slept on, very comfy and fluffy. It was on a very safe neighborhood, and walking distance from Alamo and River-walk.

The path to walk back from the Parking Garage was dark and kinda scary, as it feels unsafe. We did not Valet, as we were staying less than 12 hours, so we had to park at the Garage. I wish the hotel would improve the lightning and ambiance to the Valet entrance since it did not look very elegant nor safe.

Quiet, clean, friendly staff

We were told if we extended an extra night (Sunday) it would be the same rate because that night was expected to be high occupancy. I know from having been in the hotel business Sundays are generally low occupancy and the parking lot was nearly empty so I don't appreciate being lied to. But, we paid the rate anyway because we were enjoying ourselves

Room size was good and the location of the bathroom. Hotel seemed to have a lot of people around but at the same time our room area wasn't busy at all. Bed was good a little hard but ok.

Price for parking felt like a money grab. When i booked that wasn't talked about and I forgot about an extra $100 for parking.

The lady at the front desk was always rude when asking questions. I even called when checking out and she answered. I asked for a cart and she said there was noine to bring it up to my room. She told me I could come down and get one.

Beautiful hotel. Loved the entrance and the amenities there. Staff starting with the valet drivers to the front desk to the hotel staff were exceptional. Parking is expensive but thats the way it is in that area overall. Breakfast was very good.

Parking. Should be included in the cost of the hotel.

The location in relation to the river walk and over night life activities is superb.

My only disappointment was the tub in my room was without hot water during my stay so I had to make due with just using cold water.
