The hotel is in a perfect location right in the center of town. It's an old historic hotel and you can definitely see and feel the age with some of it but overall the rooms were clean and everything worked! The staff was friendly and accommodating, we were there before the season really started so, I would have loved to sit on the veranda and have a drink and watch the town. The hotel is right across the street from the park, where during the season concerts and events are put on, so that is pretty awesome too.

We had a two-bedroom suite, the beds in room one were great the beds in the second room were not comfortable at all. There was a love seat, recliner, and rocking chair in the room so not quite enough for 5 adults to be in the sitting area.

I, like many people who travel to Deadwood, came for the history. The historic beauty of the hotel is a treasure! Furthermore, our room was VERY historic, retaining most of the original fixtures of the room. As a history buff, it was like dying and going to heaven! The Wild Bill Saloon on the original site of the Old Saloon Number 10 was an excellent marching experience. If you're there for history, don't miss these two gems of Deadwood.

The only thing that ruined the experience was the slot machines packed into every single corner of the ground floor. It would have been more enjoyable if this was set apart from the historic hotel.

I loved the old world charm of this magnificent hotel that far exceeded what we thought possible. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. Our bell hop, Ivan was a joy and a complete gentleman. I would suggest anyone that runs into Ivan to give him a big hug and tell him thank you for his service. 💖 His smile made my day!! I loved the little gift shop in the casino across the street and purchased one of the last of the Wild Bill embroidered leather jackets. Unfortunately, there was not one in my size but I did buy a size smaller. I would like to be on the list if they ever come back in a large or extra large.

I didn't like that we didn't have enough time to really enjoy this magnificent little historic town. I would have loved to have had at least four days to enjoy and intake all of its rich history.

The staff was exceptional! We arrived early, so they made certain to have our room ready as early as they could. They were always available to answer any questions we had and pointed out things for us to do during our stay. Although this is an old hotel, we enjoyed the historic feel to it. We stayed in the Teddy Roosevelt suite which had an amazing view of the street which was great for people watching! The outdoor veranda was a great place to have a drink and chat with the friendly staff. I wish we could have stayed longer!

I booked my room on Booking.com, I went on the website for the hotel and I couldn't find any photos of the specific room I would be in. I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew it was historic, clearly, but I didn't know if the rooms had been modernized or what. I do NOT like modernized stuff. I LOVE originals and the homey feel. When we got there, I couldn't be happier. We were greeted with a smile and the best customer service. Ivan brought our luggage up to our room for us. Every time he saw us after that, he would always make sure we were doing well and enjoying our stay. They had a doorman which was nice. I loved that the suite we stayed in was separated. You walk into the "living room" where there's a couch, recliner, rocking chair and a small TV. To your left is the bathroom then one of the two rooms which has two beds and a small tv along with a couple dressers. If you were to go right, there's the second room which has two beds, a dresser, and a sink. No TV. If you look out the windows, you get a great view of the amphitheater where performances of history are held as well as other things.

One thing I wasn't too fond of was that the shower didn't drain correctly (probably because of old piping or a buildup of hair) and the light above the sink in one of the bathrooms, the fixture, not the light itself, was hot to the touch after a while of it being on. The parking is about 2 blocks away from the hotel. They have a shuttle to and from parking, but the doorman is the shuttle driver. We didn't utilize the shuttle at all until we checked out and used it to move our luggage to our car. I would have one or two shuttle drivers and a doorman. But it didn't ruin the stay at all.

Our rooms were on the 2nd floor, however, unfortunately no view of main street. Loved the historic vibe of this hotel. Staff was super friendly. We arrived late on a Thursday evening and Josh, the night manager, and I had a very lengthy conversation about the history of Deadwood.

Although the vibe of the Franklin screams historic, things that were noticeable were huge cracks in the plaster walls in both the rooms we reserved. The floors were very obviously slanted to one side. I guess floors and walls being a little funky should be expected in one of the first hotels built in Deadwood. The King bed had a huge dip in the middle so you gravitated to the center of the bed. Our second night in the hotel, the boiler system for the hotel went down and no one had hot showers. The hotel explained that the system had just been installed and that a repair man was desperately trying to get it back on-line. The management gave us free hotel breakfast vouchers for the inconvenience which was nice.

The staff as always in exceptional. Dining downstairs is truly top notch. I dont enjoy gambling as much as the rest of my party, but the food is worth it!

Not this stay but the last time I was in town, the night staff was very rude to me as he told me they had no rooms. I understand that tge laws have changed and I should not have been on the floor if they were pling boxes. There was no one at the front desk and three employees, two sitting back by the bar and one pulling boxes. All he had to do was say something, no reason to lie and be nasty doing it.... Just explain the rules? But everyone has bad days.

The hotel was so cool. The shower had a pretty bad leak. The parking sucks but you know that. We arrived about 4pm on a Thursday. The golf cart driver/doorman was awsome. He was incredibly helpful.i doubt you pay him enough.

Trying to find parking is a nightmare for a first timer. But you guys know that. The shower temp was incredibly inconsistant.Probably due to the leak between the faucet and the shower head. The plaster being cracked all to he'll in the room ONLY works becouse of the historical status of this hotel. It would be totally unacceptable in any other setting.

location was vary good , right on the Main Street of the historic section. there are 3 “shoot outs” performed daily and one is in front of the hotel. a small part of the lobby & the staircase has been preserved as it was originally.

Loved the historic preservation of the hotel however they have put slot machines everywhere possible. the bathroom ceiling of our room had a large section of paint peeling off appeared to be water damage. also the water for showering was either scalding hot or grazing cold, very difficult to manage a tolerable temperature.

the location was great and the staff was so nice. the restaurant on property was very good and quite reasonable.

not all of our rooms had AC. the carpet in the halls and rooms need replaced. the location of the smoking rooms to the non smoking rooms was ineffective. smoke came into my room every night. you need to dedicate the 4th floor to smoking only so the rest of the guests can enjoy their stay.
