Hotel Bennett Charleston

The staff was fantastic! They were all polite and accommodating. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and well equipped. The housekeepers were thorough and cleaned the room daily. They even turned down the beds and offered little chocolate squares nightly! Another wonderful thing the staff did was to bring me a tea kettle as I did not drink coffee. The common spaces were all very clean, and we felt very safe and well taken care of. We also scheduled in-house massages, which were expensive but amazingly relaxing!

The only complaint I heard while I was there was from other guests who all felt the gym was too small for such a large hotel, and I would have to agree. They did have two Peloton bikes (which is what I use for exercise), a treadmill, an elliptical machine, and a nice weight set. Another downside was that the pool did not have lap lanes nor could you eat at the pool prior to lunchtime. Lastly, We did wish they had had a hot tub or a steam-room to warmup before the massages.

Location was excellent. Hotel was beautiful. Rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. Service was excellent except for the pool area.

Pool and pool area was too small for the volume of guests. Unappealing cabanna's were cave like and available for rental and lounge chairs for the cabana guests took up half of the pool's lounge chair area. Only A few lounge chairs were available for on a first come first serve basis for guests. Consequently, you had to pay $300 or $400 if you wanted a lounge chair because the only one's available were the rentals that came with the cabanas. Who wants to sit in a cabana and watch tv? or pay $400 to sit in a lounge chair? You can do that in your room. Very bad system. Server was not helpful and we felt unwelcome at the pool.

Great room, quite comfortable, and reasonable for the price point. Really good value. The Patisserie is a highlight. Design and comfort of the room was as expected, which was great. Staff was attentive to our requests, and made every effort to accommodate us and make sure we had a great stay.

Fitness center needs to be expanded and upgraded. Even on a leisure trip, guests do want high quality facilities. Restaurant service was not as great . . . mostly slow, and there are better restaurant options in town as we discovered.

We paid more for the hotel to have the pool. No where in any reservation process or receipt did I see any notification that the pool was closed. That was super disappointing Surprisingly noisy on the streets on weekends but you can’t hear anything from inside the hotel. Upstairs rooftop service was non existent

We had a weekend away (3 nights) in Charleston and adored the Hotel Bennett. Beautiful building/decor and super friendly staff meant we put it as our top city break trip so far. The New Year's Eve dinner at Gabrielle was out if this world. The overall impression was that it managed a wonderful balance of sophistication and welcoming warm.

The seemed to have some difficulty with their system not recognizing our booking was paid through booking.com. They promised to not charge anything until all the issues were resolved but do check your balance carefully checking out!

My husband and I enjoyed the location, the professionalism of the staff. Everyone was polite and eager to help in any way possible. The flourless. Chocolate truffle cake was amazing!

The bath tub water had weird black flakes in it. The front desk once notified sent up staff to scrub down the tub and flush the water tank.

The Bennett is definitely a high end property with many amenities (no gym though?!). Many great restaurants on site to choose from and food was delicious. Can’t beat the location as it is right on king street near all the shops and college of Charleston (we were there for graduation). Also a quick bike taxi ride or 15 minute walk to market street area. Rooms are comfy and quiet and the staff was helpful. The pool is small for the size of the hotel so it can be difficult to get a lounge chair on the weekends, but there were plenty of other outdoor spaces where you could sit so it was not a big negative. You can rent a cabana at the pool for the day but it is pretty pricey. Overall enjoyed the stay and would return for sure!

No free morning coffee service, no gym and smallish pool.

Very nice amenities. The bathroom in the deluxe room was AMAZING. Beds were super comfy. Staff was very helpful and pleasant.

Valet for 1 night is $42. There are very few pool lounge chairs however, having a pool available in downtown Charleston is a PLUS. Overall, not worth $900/night.

Amazing property from the moment I stepped in. Luxurious, clean and very well located. Outstanding customer service.. Superb. I think this is the best thing about this place. How much the whole team strive to make their guests feel at home. I loved my room. Overlooking the park. Was very excited every evening to go back to my hotel, relax and enjoy the bath tub in my room. The amenities in the room are beyond what you expect. I loved the softness of the bath robe. I’m not a coffee drinker but did enjoy my Nespresso everyday. Thank you for a such a wonderful stay. I wish if I can go back now.

Things to improve: pastries in Le Patessiere were below expectations. Dry and old. Will be great if more entertaining channels were provided for free on the TV. Otherwise channels are available but you have to pay extra. Providing bath foam not bath salts for better bathtub experience. Something like lavender scented foam which is relaxin. The lemon scented bath salts the hotel provide weren’t good enough.

We had an outstanding stay in Hotel Bennett: excellent staff - only to mention a few of them: world’s best concierge team with Cassandra, Kevin and Joseph, very nice and helpful service in „Gabrielle“ . We enjoyed our stay a lot and will come back for sure !
