Candlewood Suites Charleston – Mt. Pleasant, an IHG Hotel

Great value! Recently renovated and reopened in March 2021. Very clean and comfortable. Pleasant staff! Rooms come with a small kitchen (stove top, full fridge, dishwasher, microwave, pots/pans, utensils, and more). Short drive to downtown Charleston.

The hotel was nicely situated about half way between downtown Charleston and Sullivans Island beach. Roughly 15 minutes by car to either. Our particular room had two separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchenette. Very nice! This was an upgrade we paid for, as most rooms are not configured like this. The staff were fantastic! Comfortable beds and clean rooms.

I wish the hotel provided some type of breakfast. There is, however, free coffee 24/7. The bathroom shower valve seemed very strange to me. Straight up for off, left for hot, and right for cold. How do I get to the perfect temperature? Never figured it out. Chalk it up to poor design perhaps.

I loved that we had a kitchen to prepare our breakfasts. The furniture and appliances felt as if they were brand new! The place was pristine, I've never seen such a clean room, it literally felt brand new. The staff was helpful, courteous, and very friendly; it was like coming home every day. We originally were going to stay for 7 days but we enjoyed staying there so much, we squeezed in 2 more days. The location was central for all our needs. We will be returning to the area annually and intend to return and not go to an AIRBNB anymore if the quality of services remains the same in the future.

The pool was in poor shape and couldn't be used but we were really there for the beach. Although parking was sometimes not available on the premises, we were able to park across the street.

Not enough parking at the hotel so sometimes we would have to park across the street. Also the floor in our room could have been cleaner than it was. We spilled a clear liquid on the tile floor & when wiping it up our towels were pretty dirty. It didn’t look like the floor had been recently mopped/cleaned.

The hotel has been renovated and has been turned into an exceptional place. We travel a ton and have stayed in many hotels, Candlewood met more than our expectations. We were actually booked at a neiboring hotel, but saw cheaper rates and switched to Candlewood, last minute. Full kitchen, full fridge/ freezer, stove, all utensils, pots, pans, dishwasher, upscale bathroom products/ cleaning products and even a laundry basket for doing free laundry if needed. Everything you need to actually live there for some time. Also, Lobby was stocked with mini- grocery store type items. We were with a group of 10, traveling/ staying for a funeral and everything from cleanliness, to hotel staff knowing the area, giving advice to restaurants, places to explore in our down time, location to all things, to supplying everything needed for multiple days, and overall price was all exceptional. I can honestly say, after multiple trips to Charleston, if we choose a hotel, we will definitely come back to Candlewood.

The renovations included the pool , so we couldn't use it, but honestly, that's part of them renovating, so... not really a negative thing.

No cold water. It was either very warm or very hot. Also, the faucets are too close to the counter and so anytime you wash your hands, or do anything, water gets EVERYWHERE. The need to be moved forward so the water goes more in the sink.

The desk chair was uncharacteristically torn and shoddy compared with the rest of the room. Having to park across the street due to not enough on site parking was disappointing. We stayed for a number of days but there was only one day's worth of coffee without having to ask for more in the lobby.

I liked its location right off of the freeway. I like the on site grocery store, & the ability to get more clean towels whenever needed. The staff was consistently cordial/helpful.

I could not adjust the air vents &/or the direction of cold air flows as desired from my room air conditioning unit. This inability caused discomfort from uneven thermal air flows. For examples, constantly too frigid in front of my dresser cabinets & desk, but too warm in many other areas of my room.

The room came with a complete kitchenette and everything worked. The bathroom was of good size. The mattress was firm and very comfortable. Location was fantastic, every place we went to was like 10 minutes or less by car. Complimentary coffee was very good. Complimentary guest laundry facilities were very useful. Guest staff and manager were both very welcoming and accommodating,

Nothing.

Check-in was smooth. Easy to find location, and easy to get to good sites. The room was sufficient for a week's stay. Great value for all that they provided.

Limited parking on site wasn't a big deal, but was a little annoying. Overflow parking lot across the street wasn't great when it was raining.
