Tillicum Beach Motel - Formerly Deane's Oceanfront Lodge

This hotel was worth every penny. It's s located near a quaint little town with a ton of charm and character. In fact, we would have happily paid more and were surprised how low the cost was for such a fantastic room which is located in a gorgeous area, right on the ocean. The room was very spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The beds were comfortable and we loved the chairs we could sit in to watch TV. The bathroom was very clean and modern. We ate at a restaurant down the road which had outstanding food. So very happy that I chose this hotel to stay in for my first visit to the Oregon coast.

I truly have nothing negative to say about this hotel.

I love the access to the beach and the big open yard that we can spend time in.

I hate that people don’t keep their dogs on a leash. I don’t care if the dog is friendly i don’t want your dog running up to me sniffing/lick me. Also, there were multiple piles of feces all around the yard that two people in my group both stepped in.  it’s extremely disrespectful on the pet owners and I wish there were staff actually monitoring the situation. I made sure to tell the front desk staff that there was multiple theses in the yard and from what I can tell no one went out there and clean anything up. I also sent an email directly to the property the day after our visit I never got any kind of response back.

This motel is very pet friendly. It is an old style motel with a door in the front and a door that leads to the beach. As we stayed several days, I watched the housekeeper clean the room next door, and was very impressed. She even cleaned the door jambs. Another housekeeper washed windows. The rooms have laminate flooring-great for traveling dogs. I have stayed at this property before -and would stay again. It was relaxing and quiet.

The breakfast offerings could be improved- donuts and some pieces of fruit-along with coffee. The motel is a bit hard to find the first time-several miles north of Yachats. A sign indicating that the motel was up ahead would be nice. This is an older motel, so the bathrooms are small. Still, the shower worked well.

My late husband and I had many summer vacation at the Dean's and we had such wonderful memories. Town has changed a bit but not too much. Manager was so gracious to let me have a better room with extra cost as I wanted to be comfortable with my friend both having a bit more privacy. I sat on the beach and thought about our lovely days spent there, my late husband and I.

I would love to have a bigger towels. Beach towels specially for beach would be very nice. I do not know why they have to change the name of the motel. I am totally good with Dean's oceanside and old retro sign.

We had a wonderful stay at this cute and comfy beachside lodge. The location was excellent- right between Yachats and Waldport on a nice sandy stretch of beach. The rooms, bathrooms, linens, parking areas etc. are all very clean. They are super pet friendly and provided a loaner dog bed/sleeping pad, water bowl, dog towel, had treats and loaner toys/balls in the lobby, and dog waste bags readily available in multiple locations on the property. The staff were lovely and welcoming. They have paid a lot of attention to the details, and helped create a wonderful, relaxing experience overall. The lending library of books and movies was nice and we loved the option to cook in the room or use the small grills outside. We will definitely be back!

If i had to choose something negative to note, I would say that the vintage kitchenette smelled a little like grease (the vent hood needed a good cleaning underneath), and their coffee was not great. But the positives greatly outweigh the couple nit-picky negatives I mentioned :)

So clean! The staff was extremely kind and friendly. The dog bag (bed, bowl, towel) were so very wonderful. Loved the beach... practically had it to ourselves. Comfortable chairs in room. Fireplace was very charming. Covered patio with Adirondack style chairs and picnic table outside our backdoor was excellent. Stairs to beach were sturdy and easy to walk on. We ate out at Luna Sea restaurants in Yachts and Seal Rock. Fabulous!

Minor complaint: mattress topper was nice but made the edge feel sloping, like you might slip off ☺️

This place was absolutely adorable, our biggest regret was that we were only stopping there one night on our trip up the coast. The room was huge and super comfortable with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and tv w/ dish + a DVD player. The lobby had dvds and some games and books to choose from. The beach is just outside and the picnic tables were perfect for watching the sunset over takeout. Loved this place!

I stay here at least once a year, sometimes with my partner, sometimes with our dog. This time I went solo and as usual it was a great stay. Very clean, nice staff, comfy beds and cool retro showers. Stairs to the beach were crafted in a way that makes them easy to navigate even with chronic pain. I spent hours just sitting on a bench on the cliff above, watching dogs go ballistic on the sand below , watching the clouds come in, reading a book and just listening to the surf. Great 3 days!

Obviously not the owner's fault, bu If you have a patio room, you might be kept awake by random neighbors, or you can do what I did and join them for conversation and a beverage 😆. If for some reason you don't like dogs, Deanne's might not be for you. They are extremely pet friendly and even have doggo gift bags when you check in. It's not very walkable to the small towns nearby ( Walport and Yachats) so plan ahead, pick up some food and enjoy it on the covered patio! Leroy's Blue Whale is a classic diner with ridiculously large portions and a small bill. Had lunch and dinner to go for 22 bucks plus tip. The next day, picked up a crab melt from Hilltop Bistro and was in Oregon culinary heaven for 20 bucks.

I remembered this property as a child when my brother and I came with our grandparents for a week. Probably 1968 or 1969. When I saw the front of the property, I remembered it immediately. On this recent trip our room was facing the ocean. We were able to sit in the front of our room and look at the ocean. The room was perfect for two. Bed was very comfortable and shower very nice walk in. Will come again for sure.

The room did seem a little damp. Now you have to know it had been raining very hard in the days before our visit.

Our room was exceptionally clean and well organized. Staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the patio facing the large lawn before the steps to the ocean and beach below. We have a treasured Golden Retriever and this motel seems to cater to pets. They offered and we accepted a pet bag which contained a pet blanket for the floor, dog towel, bowl and bag of treats.

I have nothing to report about what I didn't like. I would say the winter weather may be severe in this area. The motel seems to prepare for heavy rain with a gravel path to the beach and a large overhang over the patio area.
